Portland have confirmed the availability of 4 carts, and 5 standard push carts. (First in best dressed)

They may be able to beg and plead some members for their ride-in carts, but can't guarantee anything.

So I need to know some numbers of who wants what, and give them every chance to get the right numbers of things.

Carts are $30, push carts are free. There may be a couple other push carts I can borrow from mates too.

Any junior members wanna make $20 carrying 7 clubs and reading greens?

I’ll carry

Due to OZgolfs environmental policy and lack of emissions, we have been ousted from our booking at Warrnambool GC in favour of the Volkswagen Scramble on the Sunday.

So we've installed the old switcheroo. The Uncivil War will now be played at Warrnambool GC on Friday 14th Feb, while we now have the final round of champs at Port Fairy on Sunday. There is 15 minutes travel between the two, so this should not impact anyone's already made travel plans.

I've booked 10 carts at Port Fairy for the Sunday, so will need to know who wants....

My dream has died, time to pull the pin. Home life is still a bit out of control and my kid isn't a good traveller (or maybe it's another, nameless member of my family). In any case I haven't picked up a club since January 2019, so my attendance would have destroyed the NAGA betting market.

Have fun people, 2021 FTW!

Hey bro, unfortunately I don't think I can make the champs this year. I just looked through the thread, and realised that when I said I'd play back in July, I wasn't expecting a child!

Is she from Bridport?

I've still got several boxes to tick before I can commit to this.
1. Shoulder rehab to actually be able to swing - Not looking good at the moment
2. Pelvis recovery enough to limp around golf courses for a few days - Unsure
3. Not get screwed over by work - Still no indication of Feb travel plans.

On the plus side, I had a leave day approved for the Friday.

It's disappointing to see the late withdrawals (and non committal ditherers) after Nick has put so much effort into this event. Anyhow, those that are making the effort are in for a treat with all the courses in very good order this time of year. I've played at PF, Heywood, Wbool and Cobden last few weeks and all holding up well in dry summer conditions. A bit of rain this past week will be of further benefit.

Port Fairy especially is firm and bouncy. You'll need to allow for the run when you get here.

True. But it’s hardly a fair fight. Much like these blokes, the north are bringing lions to a dogfight.

PF has never been an OCCM course. The course today owes much of its quality to the efforts of Mike Clayton and the late Bruce Grant. The other "OCM" personnel have had little to no invovlement.

Webster can say more to the current evolution of the master plan put in place over a decade ago, and the involvement of Clayton, but I can tell you the change in the course from my first playing in approximately 2000(ish) to today is first rate.

Was a nice track back then too, but the removal of excess ti-tree, pines and shiny-leaf to open the course up to the elements more, and strategic placings of marrum grass has been excellent. The course is far more visually spectacular than before.

I believe the only changes to the physical course that has been made in this time is the new tee on the par 3 15th (which is by comparison now an amazing hole), and the new elevated tee on the dogleg par 4 16th, which is ok but is nothing spectacular. Possibly a bunker here or there added or removed I may be missing.

There's a Tiger tee been added on the par 5 12th, but I'm not even sure that gets used more than a handful of times a year?

I think I am quite likely for this now.

Shoulder went okay with pitch n putt, so if I have to play three quarter swings all weekend, so be it.

The hip handled a 5k easy walk yesterday without crippling pain, plus some roids will be pumped into it next Tuesday. I also have a medical certificate to cover me for a cart at Warrnambool, if needed.

I just need work to need me in Melbourne in one of the next two weeks (almost guaranteed) and I'll put down my deposit.

Thanks Dotty. I definitely wouldn't be getting an early knock off on Thursday. I'm on a flight to Melbourne now, so I'll discuss next week's plans with work tomorrow.

Thanks Chappy. That might work out if you are leaving after work. Let's see.

My main temptation with getting my own car is to drive around Warrnambool and reminisce. Oh, and craft beering. TBA.Up to you Andy, happy to pick you up and for you to borrow my car to reminisce around the Bool.

Now that I have just paid some money into Lefty's account, but not all since I can't figure out the totals on the spreadsheet, I can start planning exactly what I am doing. Definitely Friday, Saturday, and Sunday golf though.

Because I didn't have you confirmed for the Friday yet, or have the cost of a cart in there either.

$340 is your total.

And can you please change to a Confederate? Pretty please? You know you've always wanted to, now's your chance!

No, I just can't figure out why the costs at the top of the sheet differ to the costs listed in the first post. And why the totals for accommodation don't match eg 2 x $45 = $90, but total is $120.[/quote]

$340 is your total.I paid $200 as a deposit, until I work out what I'm doing. When do I need to confirm cart status for Warrnambool? This injection next week might be the business, and I might not need it.

LOL, I never bothered to update the first post for some prices, they were put in there as indicative initially. Everyone just blind trusts the spreadsheet!

For the accomm there's a $30 linen fee in there too, was too hard to factor over 2 nights / 3 nights / 4 nights etc.

I'd say you'll be fine to pay the cart fee on the day if we have to mate. Can't see that being an issue. Take $40 off. (And Slug may need a cart on the day too, so you may need to be partners / opponents)

I offered my services seven years ago, and you put me in the Union team. Am I to be labelled a turncoat?

Call it a mistake of past administrations? What if we say "sorry" in a nationally televised speech?

And also get everyone to promise to not call you that.

Neither have a choice, but the fact of the matter is if you stay as a Unionist, I'll have to find 3 more Confeds. And I don't like my chances of that, considering I'm struggling to get 1...

...AND we'd have a group of 2 out there also...

Has anyone taken golf clubs with Qantas lately? I haven't travelled with the clubs for ages, and I'm not sure if I am up for an excess baggage fee as a Silver Member. While golf clubs don't have the size restrictions, I still have the issue of needing to check in a suitcase too.

The Qantas site says one, but our corporate travel agent says that I get two totaling 40kg, so if that is the case, I'm fine.

Irons in head first, head’s off where possible, wrap the gross up with your towel and take a little roll of tape. Safer, secure and much easier to pull around in the travel bag.

Honestly the irons head down is probably one of the best tips i can give. It’s the weight distribution that’s really enhanced and works with 14way dividers too.

If your cheap travel bag has wheels it just makes the entire thing so much easier.

Any issue if I extend the accommodation to Sunday night, Lefty? I'm looking into hire cars, and they might be a pain in the arse to return on time on Sunday, plus this would give me Monday to drive around. I won't complain about having another day of avoiding getting flogged in the Melbourne office too.
