I'd say 6.5 plays like Dynamic Gold X100's.

They are X-Stiff steel shafts. They are an awesome shaft.

i'd think you'd have to be a pretty strong swinger to handle those babies :shock:

that shaft is rated for a 85-95mph swing. thats not strong - even Jarro can get it that hard.

No way a 95mph swinger should be using 6.5s..maybe 5.5s

Don't know where you get those numbers from blakey. 6.5's are darn stiff. They would frequency out about the same as an x100.

All I know is that I'm not about to hit them.

don't enter the world of the Ho Blakey, you might get hurt :roll:

just 'cos some website says that it suits a certain swingspeed, doesn't make it so.

That may well be rated for 85-95 mph 5-iron speed...

My impresssion was that:
4.5 = R-flex
5.5 = S-flex
6.5 = X-flex

If you swing at 110 with a driver, you may only swing at 90 with a 5 iron...

I think it's all relative, wouldn't know many folk who would swing a sand wedge at 90.... know what I am meaning ???? as clubs get shorter, the swing speed does lessen.

that link agrees with me 95mph = 6.5

why would you say that such a person (like me) cant use 6.5's

I'm getting lost here :oops: Are we talking 95mph with driver or with 5 iron?? I swing about mid 90's with my driver and about 83 with my 5 iron.

Of course what it comes down to is you swing with whatever you feel comfortable with. Just because technically I shouldn't use them I can use dg x100's tipped 3 inches if I want. I choose not to.

My 5iron speed is 98mph, my driver speed is 110mph, if you have similar specs then you could use them, we are saying that jarro couldn't use them :shock: :roll:

6.5 are an X shaft. As a few people have pointed out, it comes down to preference. Some people like a stiffer feel. Smoother swingers tend to go better with a half-flex softer as they don't load up the shaft as much as people who "go after it".

I really like the rifle shafts, for what it's worth. My last set had 6.0 Rifles (S+). When I was fitted for them I was 92mph with 5 iron.

Some people (like me) can have a big disparity between 5 iron and driver swingspeed, so best not to assume the same flex.

It is not just about speed either, its more to do with tempo than raw speed! :)

Anyway I still got these, if no one wants them then I'll just have to stick them into some heads for myself :)

The thread topic is about iron shafts :-)

my 5 iron speed is about 90-92 mph,with little load and i am using rifle lites 6.5. all the fitting charts I have looked at confirm that its within the recommendations leaning on the stiffer side.

Very few people here would dispute GCI's fitting skills and they fitted me with these.

Mark,

The Rifle Lite shafts do play a little softer, but I too wouldn't question anything out of the GCI shop.

I currently use rifle flighted 6.5 in my irons after having used rifle 6.0 previously. I find them great. Definitely not overly stiff. Do feel a bit boardy on thin shots but that is only to be expected. Highly recommend them.
