Looking at getting a 13# 3wood is there much of a flight difference and any gain in distance than a 15# 3wood.

I lost more than 5 degree launch angle and more than 30 meters lost when using a 13* but I have a girly swing.

Off the deck wise i think there is, 15 alot easier off the deck, but tee wise i dont think so.
If you get a good one that suits you, the 13 is a great driving club, just whatever feels good for you.

I would expect it would be a slightly lower, more piercing trajectory with a slight gain in distance due to lower spin allowing more run.

The reason that I'm asking is that if you buy a TM driver ($US400 or more) you get a free R7 steel FW wood and as I've got a 15* r7tp, I thought I would get a 13* as well.

And before you ask it is US only and ends on 31st July

get the 13, try it, and if not sell it, easy

Why on earth would you need another driver?? You got these two already, right?

Dave,

Do you think there is a difference between a 9.5 degree driver and an 11.5 degree driver?

You probably do. And yes there is a similar difference in 3 woods which differ in loft by 2 degrees. Personally I had long used a 13 degree 3 wood only to recently change to a 15 degree and now wonder why I hadn't changed much sooner.

for mere mortals like us Dave, a 15* is a much more versatile tool ...... easier to hit off the deck and almost as long off the tee. All depends how you use your 3 woods i suppose .... do you use it as a driver replacement ? or do you use it for hitting off the fairway into long par 4's or par 5's ?

i had the 13* Cleveland that was awesome off the tee .. really long, but hard to hit off the deck :(

it all depends on how you wanna use it really.

I now have a 14* 3 wood and I love it great off the tee. Off the deck it is long! To be honest though I use the 19* 5 wood more for the off the deck shots.

I have used them all for certain periods and can say without a doubt that the 15* is the smarter choice for most golfers. I used a 13* for quite a while with good success and also a 14* Sonartec but since moving to a 15* 904f my 3 wood game has picked up to no end. The 13* was fun for longer than normal tee shots as jarro states but it was far harder to pick off the deck which my 15* does with ease. IMO Dave you are wasting your money unless you use a 6* driver and need to plug that gap. And seriously unless you play off 6 or less and swing at over 100mph with solid consistency you are wasting your time trying to hit a 13* when you have a 9.5 Driver and that is why 13* always sit in bargain barrels and 15*s have to be ordered in :)

guess it all really depends on how and how often u use ur 3wood...

I used to use a lot of 3wood off the tee, and ended up using a 13` for about 2-3 years...and only used it off the deck once, twice at most during an 18hole round...

analyze how you play your (regular) course, and decide from there!!!

Thanks for all the tips guys .

the reason that I was toying with the idea was that it can get pretty blowy here at coral cove and I sometime balloon my 15* so sometime with a little less loft might help me get under the wind, plus the fact that it is not a TP it should be a little more forgiving heck the driver I'm looking at getting is just the standard and not the TP as I hit the non Tp r7 425 and it felt good and I hit the TP no better so why spend the money .

But back to the 3wood still in two minds as I've been known to hit the driver of the deck sometimes with some success.

I'll keep you posted.

There my be some TM gear up for sale soon as I can only have one driver in the bag and one 3wood plus the missus is getting sick of the spare clubs in the cupboard that I don't use any more.
