Well, it's about time I got this up, I'm going to head out during the day to get some better vid's. There is a 7 iron and Driver vid's up. Not as bad as I thought it would be, but certainly not great. I can see quite a few area's that need improvement, but a few that I am happy with.

Iain, you seem to have the ball a long way forward in your stance ... any particular reason why ??

Yeah, I play the ball, under the logo on my shirt for all irons and off my left foot for Driver, in the vid's I think the 7 iron is a little too much and the driver is way too forward, didn't realise the ball was that far forward.....

Good, athletic swing, Iain. Nice balance and good lag. You stay down through the shot beautifully. Nicely on plane too.

I agree with Jarro that the ball position is too far forward. You compensate on the downswing by moving laterally. If you compare your head position from top of backswing and impact, you'll see a big difference.

Overall, a good powerful swing IMO, with a bit of lateral move to compensate for the ball position which might take away some directional consistency.

Iain, i remember last time we played at Nudgee, you had the ball a long way in front of your left foot, and as a consequence hit a lot of low/left drives.

Maybe try getting the ball a little further back and see how that goes ... can't hurt to try can it ;)

I don't think you can.

I echo what is being said here Unit although I can see you are far more consistent than a year ago getting back to a good position at impact. Just by looking at the vids though I can see that you will struggle a lot with "fore left" if you get lazy.

1. Ball position is too far forward, your spine angle is also too great due to your ball position causing you to lean back too far at address especially with the driver.

2. You are still swaying/moving your lower body a little too much, you need to practice more hitting 5 irons with your feet together taking your lower body totally out of the swing. When I was young and even sometimes now I suffer from a too active lower body and hitting bag after bag of balls with the 5iron with my feet together teaches me to stay in control. This is a Nick Faldo drill.

Well done mate.

The only way would be to use some sort of video screen capture program. Crap quality though...

Jarro, did you read my reply to your first post??? :-s I don't normally play it that far forward, it is more so than normal, plus the camera angle isn't perfectly square so it looks more forward than what it is. But I will work on playing it back.... ;)

Thanks Guys.

Jono, with the 7 iron, I certainly do have a lot of upper body lateral movement, but with the driver, I move a little away on the backswing but return to the address head position at impact, so it's not too bad. Definatley needs improvement though!!

Jaster, Thanks for the comment's. I will try the drill next time I'm at the range. Although it's certainly better than what it was, I think that is because I'm not concentrating on the bump to start the swing now.

But, like I said in the first post, I've got a list of things I want to work on, just wanted to get others opinion's to add some more. :-D

Thanks
Iain

Hmmm, thought this would be interesting to update...

Here's a video of my swing one month ago and then again on Monday. Don't have a front on video from Monday, so will get one later on.

That second swing of yours is pretty much where I'm trying to get mine. I think my arms are ok, but my wrists are often still laid off at the top which makes things look even flatter than they are (shaft angle, as opposed to actual plane).

Looks the goods though!

Thanks Henno, the first swing was taken before I started working with Martinez.
