At setup and address, the left wrist is typically never flat, if it were, there would be a lot of shaft lean and hands would be way forward. Yet, it has been taught that you ideally should have a flat left wrist at the top of the swing and at impact. Would it then mean that you have less changes in the club face (leading to more consistency) by either maintaining that cupped wrist at the top of the swing or conversely, have a flat left wrist at setup?

I would think it is an individual thing, depending on your swing dynamics. After a lesson a few years ago, I now set up with my hands way forward, lots of shaft lean, and a flat wrist (right in my case).

It's the number 1 thing I've been working on for the past 6 months.

Contact is much more pure when I can maintain it.

You are correct, there are less changes in the club face throughout the swing.

Managed to find a YouTube video which highlighted what I was thinking about. He's given examples of golfers who keep the cup in their left wrist at the top of their back swing like Justin Rose and those who are more flat or even bowed like DJ.
