Length: 5575m
Par: 70
Scr: 69
Slope: 111 (Blue tees)

1st hole - Par 4 - Index 3/21 - 400m
Looks like a wide open hole, but looks are deceiving. You MUST carry 180m to clear the drain (not a problem for most with a prevailing tailwind), several bunkers on the right will catch any fades, push-up green is a small target.

2nd hole - Par 4 - Index 13 - 300m
A right-to-left ball-flight is a big advantage off the tee, otherwise the fairway runs out at no more than 180m from the tee. The skinny green is best approached from left of centre.

3rd hole - Par 3 - Index 9 - 175m
The small & firm putting surface is unsighted from the tee, so choose your club carefully.

4th hole - Par 4 - Index 4/24 - 320m
Another right-to-left favouring tee shot. Even though it looks wide to the right, the ideal position off the tee is the left side of the fairway. A few humps around the green will spit out any approach shots a little off target.

5th hole - Par 3 - Index 18 - 110m
Only short, but don’t relax too much. A clean strike is a must to clear the traps, but long can easily go OOB. Make bogey and drop a shot on the field.

6th hole - Par 5 - Index 11/23 - 525m
One of the longest holes in the entire region. Looks like it favours a left-to-right tee shot but best side for the next shot is the left (keep it inside the tree line to avoid OOB). Check your distances to avoid the drain approx. 180m from the green.

7th hole - Par 4 - Index 5/22 - 325m
This 90 degree dogleg requires precision placement of the opening shot. A drain crosses the fairway to catch anything too aggressive, trees on the left before the green will block out any tee shot not long enough, and OOB on the inside of the corner protects against hitting over it.

8th hole - Par 3 - Index 7 - 160m
Height required to clear the tree in the middle (), and the headwind is often only felt above the tree line, so club up.

9th hole - Par 5 - Index 16/26 - 445m
The headwind makes the 250m to the drain unachievable for most. More width to be had towards the back of the green.

10th hole - Par 4 - Index 17 - 460m
Decision time: layup to 210, or carry it 230+ to avoid the drain. Strike the approach confidently, as there are no easy up & downs around this green..

11th hole - Par 4 - Index 2/20 - 410m
Almost mirror image of 10, but running upwind. The same bunkers protecting the drive on 1 come into play here. Long second into an unprotected green.

12th hole - Par 3 - Index 8 - 160m
The green is partially obscured, but it’s still not huge. A bit long is better than a bit short.

13th hole - Par 4 - Index 10 - 275m
180m off the tee is all that’s required, any longer and the drain comes into play. Flick a wedge close for easy birdie, but get the distance right as the back bunker is no snack.

14th hole - Par 3 - Index 6 - 180m
Accuracy is a premium with this narrow green guarded by 2 bunkers. Lose it left and risk losing it on the racetrack.

15th hole - Par 4 - Index 1/19 - 425m
The hardest hole on the course for good reason. Requires length AND precision. Being right of the tree in the fairway provides best line to the green, but adds distance. Making GIR is rare. The green is more domed than most.

16th hole - Par 4 - Index 12/25 - 315m
A skilled fade can get close, but also risks catching the RHS trees. Straight ahead and just short of the trees (~220m) gives best view of buried elephants.

17th hole - Par 3 - Index 14 - 150m
Straightforward one-shotter typically plays a club longer. Avoid the track left and bunker right. Check the winds which will push the ball left.

18th hole - Par 5 - Index 15/27 - 440m
Straight is more important than long as the landing area is surrounded by racetrack, grass clumps, rough-covered mounds and drain. A bunker dead centre guards against chasing the table-top green in 2.

Length: 6159m
Par: 72
Scr: 72
Slope: 122 (Blue tees)

1st hole - Par 4 - Index 14/29 - 307m
- Easy opening hole.
- Driveable for bigger hitters.
- DO NOT miss left.

2nd hole - Par 4 - Index 12/27 - 327m
- Layup straight at the RH trees, or bomb driver over the LH trees.
- Leave back pins alone.

3rd hole - Par 4 – Index 10/25 - 350m
- OOB R, bunker middle, trees L. Hit long or layup, but make sure you hit straight
- Play to the middle of the green and take the 2-putt.

4th hole - Par 4 – Index 1/19 - 386m
- Usually plays into the wind.
- Go as long as possible, but stay away from RH trees.
- Try to get approach on the same tier as the pin.

5th hole - Par 3 – Index 3/33 - 210m
- Ignore pin position & just try to get it in the middle.
- Putts towards front tend to get away so try to stay under the hole.

6th hole - Par 5 – Index 18/32 - 471m
- Favour left side of fairway with tee shot to avoid reachable RHS trees..
- Layup close to RH FW trap for best line to unremarkable green.

7th hole - Par 4 – Index 5/22 - 379m
- More trees down the RH side than you can see from the tee.
- Mounds/ swales on RH side of green provide difficult U&D, but not as much as lake on LH side.

8th hole - Par 3 – Index 16/36 - 145m
- Stay inside line of LH trap or risk finding creek.
- Front third of green has imperceptible fall towards weir.

9th hole - Par 4 – Index 7/24 Length 364m
- Needs shortest possible club to guarantee GIR.
- Front RH trap swallows mishit approaches.
- Do all possible to stay below the hole.

10th hole - Par 4 - Index 6/23 - 367m
- Hug FW traps for best approach.
- Hit correct side of ridge in middle of green for best chance at tap-in par at worst.

11th hole - Par 3 - Index 9/35 - 158m
- Length is most important as green is shallow.
- Premium on GIR as U&Ds are difficult from all sides.

12th hole - Par 5 – Index 13/28 - 487m
- Unless you crush a drive 280m+, layup 2nd to around 100m out to avoid lake.
- DO NOT GO LONG! (pars cannot be saved from behind the green)

13th hole - Par 5 – Index 17/31 - 482m
- Stay inside pines on LHS.
- If not long enough to reach green in 2, layup to 100m to avoid traps.
- Don’t attack pins on LHS as new contouring can punish the unwary.

14th hole - Par 4 – Index 4/21 - 328m
- Leave driver on the bag and don’t get cute with LH side.
- Approach is usually into wind, so club up.
- Avoid dish in LH side of green unless pin is in it.

15th hole - Par 4 – Index 2/20 - 404m
- Aim at electrical towers on mountain and stay out of right trees.
- Front 3rd of green falls almost undetectably back towards fairway.

16th hole - Par 4 – Index 11/26 - 355m
- Only super accurate or super short should hit driver.
- Stay inside cartpath.
- Slight dome on back tier of green confuses even long-time locals.

17th hole - Par 3 – Index 8/34 - 172m
-.Long narrow green can vary in length by 3-4 clubs.
- Neither side is good miss.
- Back half of green falls to the creek.

18th hole - Par 5 – Index 15/30 - 467m
- Straightforward from the tee.
- Layup short of RH side trap for 2nd as danger all around green guards against hitting it in 2.

Palmer Sea Reef (http://www.palmergolf.com.au/cms/palmer-sea-reef/)

Google Map (https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-16.5313852,145.4675035,2377m/data=!3m1!1e3)

Length: 6135m
Par: 71
Scr: 71
Slope: 124 (White tees)

1st hole - Par 4 - Index 5 - 380m
Strong dogleg to start. For best line in stay close to the RHS trap, but not too close. The green is huuuuge, and an entire herd of elephants is buried under it. It’s worth driving up to look at pin position before committing to the approach.

2nd hole - Par 4 - Index 13 - 360m
One of the less interesting holes on the course. Pretty straight with a handful of traps to negotiate. WYSIWYG.

3rd hole - Par 3 - Index 15 - 147m
Large green looks insipid from the tee, but take care as some funky contours will make 2-putts tricky if they end up in the way.

4th hole - Par 4 - Index 1 - 425m
This is where the course starts to bare its teeth. A loooong 4 often into the wind. Length & accuracy are required to hit this towering push-up green in reg. Wayward approach shots are punished by hazards on both sides. A false front will spit out anything slightly short.

5th hole - Par 5 - Index 11 - 475m
Good birdie chance with little trouble beyond the twin fairway traps. Heaps of room behind them so blast away.

6th hole - Par 3 - Index 9 - 192m
A smallish green to hit for the length. Best miss (if any) is short and/ or right.

7th hole - Par 4 - Index 3 - 370m
The LHS hazard creeps in the further you go, so favour the right off the tee. The small green is tucked in close to the mangroves so do not go long.

8th hole - Par 5 - Index 7 - 541m
The longest Par 5 in the region. Plenty of room off the tee, but the most important shot is the second. Get it close to the RHS fairway trap for best view of the tucked green. Beware the hidden water hazard at the back left of the green.

9th hole - Par 4 - Index 17 - 310m
Short but by no means easy. Lots of trouble at over 200m from the tee with lots of bunkers and water hazards on both sides. The left side is the favoured hangout of one of the local barking flatdogs. Another huge push-up green reminiscent of the 4th punishes missed GIRs.

10th hole - Par 4 - Index 18 - 318m
Like the 9th, risk increases exponentially beyond 200m Best approach is from the right, but safest play is straight at the fairway traps. Hit to the fat of the double green to avoid the traps & run-offs.

11th hole - Par 3 - Index 6 138m
Pin positions anywhere but front left must be considered carefully. Often plays a club longer with imperceptible headwinds above the tree line.

12th hole - Par 5 - Index 14 - 440m
As short a 5 as you would see. Acres of room off the tee, just keep it inside the cart path. Although reachable in 2, the small green is well-guarded by sand and water. Pick your poison as more traps make the layup precarious.

13th hole - Par 4 - Index 16 - 321m
To have any chance of seeing the green for the approach, keep the drive tucked down the left side. Anything else is blocked from view by the hill right in front of the shallow green. Blind approaches are risky as the green is shallow and framed by mangroves.

14th hole - Par 4 - Index 2 - 415m
A tough driving hole with OOB left and jungle right. The approach doesn't get any easier, as the hole further narrows towards the green.

15th hole - Par 3 - Index 12 - 171m
Another large push-up green which forms a double green with the 10th. Hitting the flat behind the front bunker is a must, as anywhere else requires two very good shots to save par.

16th hole - Par 4 - Index 8 - 360m
An easy 4/3 is to be had if the fairway traps can be avoided, but be careful as the entire LHS is OOB. Not much danger to be had at the green but if you miss, do it to the right for the best chance to get up & down.

17th hole - Par 4 - Index 4 - 405m
Stick to the right to shorten the hole, give the best line of attack, and avoid the hazard down the LHS. Back flags are protected by two LHS pots.

18th hole - Par 4 - Index 10 - 367m
Water hazards on both sides and several well-placed fairway traps must be successfully negotiated to have a crack at the pinched green. Some more tricky contours guard front pins and bunkers stand guard on either side.

Hole flyovers (http://www.paradisepalms.com.au/golf#section-course-fly-over/)

Length: 6331m
Par: 71
Scr: 71
Slope: 127 (White tees)

1st hole - Par 5 - Index 3- 486m
Obvious trouble off the tee, but don’t go left of the bunkers for fear of finding the OOB. Beware the 2nd shot as a second lake hides behind the hill on the RHS and continues all the way to the green.

2nd hole - Par 4 - Index 2 - 362m
Keep it straight but avoid the reachable fairway trap. The second shot could be round-defining so only take on the green if the percentages of success are high as a creek runs around the front and right of the green leaving little room for error.

3rd hole - Par 3 - Index 16 - 156m
WYSIWYG, although back pins should be treated with care as the green falls away.

4th hole - Par 4 - Index 4 - 379m
This hole is protected by length as it usually plays into the wind. Plenty of width off the tee but not many flat lies to be had. There are no easy up & downs around the green, so consider laying up if the tee shot is not in A1 shape.

5th hole - Par 4 - Index 13 - 307m
Very tempting to get aggressive off the tee, but easily messed up. Stick close to the fairway traps, and even finding them isn’t too bad a result. Not a whole lot of trouble around the skinny green, but prefer a miss long to avoid the greenside traps.

6th hole - Par 4 - Index 14 - 342m
Longer hitters may take a line straight over the palm trees for a chance to shorten up the hole considerably. All others just focus on avoiding the traps on the inside corner. Approaches will be tested by the massive hump in the middle of the green. Finish on the wrong side and 2 putts is a VERY good result.

7th hole - Par 3 - Index 18 - 137m
Several tiers divide this green into tiny targets, so pay attention to wind direction and get the club selection right.

8th hole - Par 4 - Index 8 - 341m
The fairway narrows right up between fairway traps to the left and a tree-filled ravine to the right. The approach is better from the right, but the risk is far greater so consider a layup straight at the traps.

9th hole. - Par 5 - Index 13 - 461m
Reachable in two with a well-placed drive avoiding the traps, but the green is set down behind a hump in the fairway so the shot will be blind. Favour a long and/ or left miss as a creek crosses just short of the green, and the lake hugs the right.

10th hole - Par 4 - Index 3 - 305m
Check your club selection as the fairway runs out into hazard. Stay as close to the fairway trap as possible to have a decent shot at the small green. A large hollow to the right will sling errant shots further right. Try to land the approach from on high as the firm domed green is tough to hold.

11th hole - Par 3 - Index 9 - 138m
Much like the 3rd hole, the rear section falls away so approach back flags with caution.

12th hole. Par 4 - Index 11 - 350m
A large hollow in the fairway will spit shorter drives left into the creek, so favour the right side unless you can reach the fairway plateau. The narrow green hides behind a small ridge and runs away from the fairway. Beware the RHS green side traps hidden from view.

13th hole - Par 4 - Index 17 - 318m
Split the traps for the best view of the green. Like the previous hole, unseen green side traps guard the RHS of the green so plot your approach carefully.

14th hole - Par 3 - Index 15 - 150m
Usually plays a tad shorter than the card unless the pin is on the back tier, in which case it will play longer. The best miss is behind the 2 RHS traps.

15th hole - Par 4 - Index 5 - 360m
An almost right-angle dog-leg right that will cause fits for some. Despite the appearance, very few will be capable of carrying the corner as the trees are taller & further away than they appear. An arrow- straight tee shot of 240m will be required for a clear shot at the green. Anything shorter or offline will require a punch-out or lay-up. The innocuous-looking green has more break than it looks.

16th hole - Par 4 - Index 1 - 371m
A creek crossing the fairway is 240m to carry, so layup is the only option. A right-to-left shot about 190-200m will give the best look at the uphill shot to the green. The safest play for many will be to play it as a 3-shotter and take the 5/2.

17th hole - Par 5 - Index 7 - 462m
It might be 260m to the creek crossing the fairway, but a drive out of the screws can make the distance if the fairways are firm & fast. Keep the drive close to the RHS traps for a chance to have a crack in 2. The green is skinny and protected by humps & traps.

18th hole - Par 4 - Index 12 - 366m
Probably easier than its index suggests. As long as the 2 fairway traps are avoided, there is heaps of room off the tee. The rest of the traps shouldn’t be in play.

Google Map (https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-16.80676,145.7160907,1191m/data=!3m1!1e3)

Length: 5129m
Par: 70
Scr: 69
Slope: 122 (White tees)

1st hole - Par 4 - Index - 284m
OOB down RHS and straight ahead if tee shot is too aggressive. Layup to centre and avoid the hidden RHS fairway traps around 180m from tee. Green is a little shallower than it appears from fairway.

2nd hole - Par 4 - Index - 294m
There’s very little reward for aggression so put the driver away. Best side for approach to the tiny green is from the right, and probably best to be hitting a full shot with spin to hold the putting surface.

3rd hole - Par 3 - Index - 154m
Putting surface is larger than it appears, and there is no real trouble around the green.

4th hole - Par 3 - Index - 165m
Don’t miss right (obvious when you get to the tee). Often plays a club longer into the prevailing wind so club up. Front portion of the green can also kick the ball right which reinforces using more club.

5th hole - Par 4 - Index - 280m
Not long, but not easy. Play a 150m club to the crest of the hill and hope for a level lie. The mangroves surrounding the green are all internal OOB so missing the green is unforgivable.

6th hole - Par 5 - Index - 445m
Often plays as a long 4 from the front tees but probably won’t know until we get there on the day. The back of the concrete gutter along the RHS marks OOB. Try to keep it on the flat for a decent chance at sticking the approach. Green is small and shallow, but be careful not to go long.

7th hole - Par 4 - Index - 359m
Can play quite long when wind gets up. Pretty straight and reasonably wide off the tee. The green falls imperceptibly away from the fairway and is usually a bit firmer than the rest of the course, so ignore any sucker pins.

8th hole - Par 4 - Index - 302m
Straight and usually downwind so blast away without fear (unless you get really wayward). Shallow green sits out into lake so best miss is short.

9th hole - Par 3 - Index - 149m
Water wraps around front, left & rear. Favour the pin high RHS miss as anywhere else is wet.

10th hole - Par 4 - Index - 296m
Straightaway hole with only the trees offering resistance to the tee shot. The narrow green has traps on either side is best played from dead in front.

11th hole - Par 3 - Index - 127m
Tees are usually well forward and has a reasonable sized putting surface even though there’s not much visible from the tee. Fenceline on RHS is OOB, hazard behind green and trap front & left so get the club selection right.

12th hole - Par 4 - Index - 415m
Anything other than a gentle left-to-right shot off the left side can lead to big trouble (and big scores). Even finding the centre of the fairway can be crueled by the roller-coaster humps. The green is insipid… once you get there.

13th hole - Par 4 - Index - 302m
Almost 90 degree dogleg. The entire RHS is OOB and past the corner is a water hazard that continues all the way to the green. You must hit around 150m off the tee to get a solid look at the green, but don’t go too long either. The approach is probably the scariest on the course, as off-target shots will kick towards trouble.

14th hole - Par 5 - Index - 483m
OOB stretches the entire RHS, and water lines the LHS. Plenty of width off the tee but the hole narrows considerably towards the green. Green is accessible, but get it on the correct tier for decent look at making the putt.

15th hole - Par 4 - Index - 310m
Runs parallel to 14 so water lines the LHS again. Play a right-to-left shot to funnel the ball between the trees. This green is also a touch firmer so play safe to the middle.

16th hole - Par 3 - Index - 132m
For some unknown reason this hole plays a tad longer, even though it plays with the prevailing winds. The green is narrow with some run-off areas making up & downs difficult.

17th hole - Par 5 - Index - 445m
If you can manage it, the best play is straight over the top of the tree in the fairway. If not, you’re screwed. Whatever happens, try to get your 2nd to the RHS of the fairway for a decent look at the flag. The putting surface wraps around a small mound on the RHS.

18th hole - Par 4 - Index - 236m
Easily reachable, but so much trouble its hardly worth attempting (trees all down RHS, bunkers in front, right and behind, OOB behind that). The aggressive play is ~200m just to the left of the green, otherwise layup around 150-160m and flick a wedge to the middle.

Paradise Palms guide added.

There's plenty of other trouble to avoid, but I had to keep it short so I've covered the main points. Some of the other locals may want to add comments.

Best piece of advice I can give:

Watch out for the Crows Foot when you've got a vital 3 footer to save your match.

Thanks again, Courty. I've just printed these suckers off, so I have some idea. I have played nine holes at Cairns before, and Paradise Palms, but I doubt I'll recall much that is helpful.

I've got one more to do (HMB), which should be done tonight.

Half Moon Bay guide updated.

I don't have a card on me so indexes are not listed. Will update it if I can get my hands on the info somewhere.

]1st hole - Par 4 - Index 5 - 380mStrong dogleg to start. For best line in stay close to the RHS trap, but not too close. The green is huuuuge, and an entire herd of elephants is buried under it. It’s worth driving up to look at pin position before committing to the approach. Saved for future reference.
