Range finder today decided to lock up. GPS working, but laser not.
Possibly got a bit of rain on it today but no more than its been exposed to before.
Anyone had a similar problem before??

Pot of rice absorption method.
3 parts water : 1 part rice

Yeah, first i would try the rice trick. Even leaving it on a bed of dry rice in an air tight container will draw any moisture out.
What make & model ? There should be a hard reset method (usually a combination of butons).

Mine did this after it went to the bottom of a pond. I had to use the rice trick and even then, it still failed quite often, leaving me to remove the battery to reset it.

Which model was yours? This has a rechargeable battery inside so tempted to rip the whole thing apart but not sure where the battery would be.

The laser section is always ready to operate with the top button. But it seems stuck on.

Once it's been dried out, spray with contact cleaner. This stuff gets rid of moisture and oxidisation.

Well I just checked it and seems to be back to a working state. But I've thrown in a tub of rice to dry it out even more.
BITS: contact cleaner in the electrics part?? I don't know how deep into the casing I can get

Yes mate, wherever you can get it. Otherwise all the contacts will rust up eventually and it will stop working.

Mine is a Leupold Gx-i. It uses a standard replaceable battery.
