Is there one that's best? Do they vary much in quality?

Just bought a fake grass practise mat from Bunnings they have two types a cheap one without underlay costs $19.95 and a thicker one with a foam rubber backing cost $29.95 , short artificial grass, ideal for practise both types are one metre square

Birdie ball mats are pretty popular in the US. They have a distributor in Oz that is selling other accessories I spoke to him before Christmas and he said they will start selling the mats too

I just bought a SKLZ waiting for it to arrive, looks pretty good and had good reviews 9 feet long ball return and slightly uphill with markings, good vids on youtube.

My carpet is around 11 on the stimpmeter.

Don't ask me what brand or details, as it was the wrong colour for a retirement unit fitout (and they couldn't return it to the warehouse, due to closure during the Sydney Olympics).

I have a Boomerang putting trainer that I've had for years. Comes with a mat which is about 3m x 6inches wide. I actually have two of them. The mat is like green felt but comes in a roll. I've got a large synthetic putting green outside that I use more but the Boom is good inside for specific practice.

Nah, but when you see me leave a 12ft putt 11 feet short, you'll know why!

The SKLZ one with the increments at 3, 5 and 7 foot is an excellent one.
Good for checking putter face alignment and grooving an accelerating stroke if you swing per the markings.

Tried to post pics on Tap Talk but it wasn't responding for some reason.
