Queensland: Karmichael Hunt (Brisbane Broncos), Brent Tate (Brisbane Broncos), Justin Hodges (Brisbane Broncos), Steve Bell (Manly), Greg Inglis (Melbourne), Darren Lockyer (captain, Brisbane Broncos), Johnathan Thurston (North Queensland), Petero Civoniceva (Brisbane Broncos), Cameron Smith (Melbourne), Steve Price (New Zealand Warriors), Carl Webb (North Queensland), Tonie Carroll (Brisbane Broncos), Dallas Johnson (Melbourne). Interchange: Shaun Berrigan (Brisbane Broncos), Chris Flannery (Sydney Roosters), Sam Thaiday (Brisbane Broncos), Nate Myles (Bulldogs).

Good mix Tunza and Hodgo very doubtful though.

bit concerned about the fitness of Carroll and Hodges, but i suppose they wouldn't be in the side if there was a chance that they weren't totally fit ;)

Good to see KH get a run at fullback, he's been playing really well lately and will provode a bit of "size" that we needed in Game 1.

BRING IT ON

why not Bowen on the bench?

he has started two games without setting the world on fire and in all his matches off the bench he has come on and torn the opposition to shreds.

I doubt hodges will be fit, Bell into the centres and bring in a winger. Or Berrigan into centres and Bowen onto the bench.

I agree that Bowen would provide some impact off the bench, but i think the selectors have gone the right way in picking a player that can cover a lot of positions, and also a player that is a little more robust than Bowen.

I'd even go as far as saying that they should've had Flannery start at lock, and look at a bigger impact player on the bench ... leave Johnson out altogether, he's too small.

Moe Norman

Flanery is a dog turd, I didn't notice they recalled him. What a joke, he's never done a thing in a maroon jersey.

He plays every position sure, but he doesn't play any of them very well....

i actually think Mogg will do a pretty good job.

He's been playing really well with the raiders, and he has the size we need to combat the NSW robots.

Doesn't really matter who we play in the backs, it's the forwards that'll win/lose it for us.

Hope TC is fit 8)

Not that I've watched much foozball, but I have to say that that tackle by mogg on gasnier from the high kick was one of the best plays I've seen. From that kick it just looked like he had the plan in his head the whole time and excuted/timed it perfectly. Belied his years and experience.

And the end result was a try, which would have been his plan. Fantastic.

I wonder if Mogg will go for Inglis if Inglis is fit?

Do you go for the 19 year old debutant who scored twice on debut in a losing side?
or
The 29 year old debutant who scored twice in in a winning side? :D

good problem to have!

goughy
15th June 2006, 04:39 AM
And as much as he scored twice, I think that tackle on gasnier was a more defining moment than his tries. It was such an intelligent play. And I didn't realise he was 19. Who was on the othe wing last night? Maybe it's there spot that will be in trouble?

Then again, how do you drop anyone from a side that literally made no mistake all night. Just dominated.

Below is a section from Benny the dropkick Elias newspaper colum on Monday.
I think he might off had one to many headnocks

Former NSW hooker Benny Elias has given a scathing appraisal of the Queensland State of Origin team, claiming the Maroons would get 'smacked' by a second-choice Blues line-up.

Elias, a veteran of 19 interstate clashes, said NSW had become so dominant Darren Lockyer and Johnathan Thurston would be the only Queenslanders that could make the Blues squad.

"You could pick a NSW II side that could beat that side," Elias said.

"I feel sorry for (coach) Mal Meninga, he has been handed a very ordinary Queensland State of Origin side.

"It's not his fault and he's doing the best he can with what he's got.

the most enjoyable part of the game was in the 2nd minute. Mason had his first hit up and got belted, then he came in looking for a second and just as the pass came to him he had a massive look at the defence and dropped it cold.

He scares easily for a bloke the size of a grizzly bear.

There are no 5/8's in the NRL, no Halves either.

So who wears No. 6 & 7 in the other NRL clubs?
One poor performance from a NSW halves pairing and you're crying poor. QLD have had to deal with lack of depth since Jesus came off the bench for Nazareth.
FFS, Finch is the 4th choice behind Johns (I know he's retired), Gower & Orford. With a bit of form, even Sherwin is a better half than Finch. Anasta isn't a 5/8's a$$hole, he's a lock forward. Scott Hill is ten times the 5/8 Anasta is.
Your issue is not with depth, it's with the selectors. Actually in the case of last night's game, your issue should be with lack of ticker.
