Hi

Hoping to get some feedback

Bit of background
Since i started golf (http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=golf) i quickly developed a inside takeaway, so for a long time my 'feel' has been taking it away from my body
As such i believe this has caused me to start getting stuck recently and pushing my path further and further right (which causes my fats, thins).

I went to have a lesson (can see my original swing below) this was a fat shot but shows what i was doing roughly, way inside, hitting up on ball or ground frst.
https://youtu.be/ytxTKKL2QYI

What we worked on was getting back to the outside feel, strong grip and trying to exit club left.
Specifically on the exit left i couldn't get near any results.

When i look at the video now (below) it almost looks like a chicken wing (speith style) which seems wrong
https://youtu.be/eWe-qR2c34Q

I would like to get backswing going back on plane as i think this should help in the downswing, However if i dont think of taking it outside it just sucks right up inside.

Keen to get any feedback from anyone any suggestions what should be working on, or alternatively any coaches in Northern side of Sydney that can help with the fundamentals from the start

or should i give it away and get into lawn bowls early?

28 AGU btw.

Cheers

That's a great move for a 28 capper. Find a pro you can trust and go to work, don't take advice on the internet you will just get worse. Your cap will be dropping in no time.

You are on the right track, just need to get the takeaway to be led by the shoulders instead of the hands.

The feeling of getting 'stuck' is because you are focusing on getting the club to work back on path in the first half of the back swing and using your hands and arms to drag the club around your body, your shoulders/torso are simply along for the ride. What you are going to need to try to do is achieve the correct path by feeling like you are dominating the takeaway with a big shoulder turn, once the club reaches parallel with the ground you can then try to hinge the club into a more upright position where it wont feel like it is 'stuck' behind your head.

thanks for the advice, will try this on the range.
I definitely only 'feel' the backswing is all arms.

Brilliant piece of advice right here.

When my swing is on, I've got my left shoulder starting the swing process.

Jordan Speith is a good example.

His shoulders look almost robotic it's so in sync.

hey thanks guys i had the best range session focusing on just the takeaway with the left shoulder pushing back' and nothing else. Few fat ones and pull draws but the majority were excellent!!

The one feel i had if i can explain it properly. Sometimes during the takeway it felt as if everything hinged itself and there was a real 'whip' at the ball. Where as other times was more i was controlling the hinge myself (placing it), then swinging through (no whip)

There was no discernible difference in shot other then the 'whip down at the bottom' swing felt easier.

Good to hear it is helping. You will definitely generate more club head speed once you get it going right, that feeling of 'whip' at the ball is a by-product of setting the wrists in a better position at the top of the swing (which doesn't happen when you get the hands and arms behind your body 'stuck').

Hey just wanted to post a brief follow up

Since focusing more on this body takeaway (body turning, passive hands) whatever you want to call it.
Reduced the bad paths (10* - 16* in to out) running about (.4*-3*) in to out at the moment.
As has helped me reduce my AoA a few degrees.

Such a big change that no coach has ever said before.

Still going strong with the 'body' takeaway, still feels foreign and weird but results are pretty damn good.
Should the club hinge automatically or is it something the player needs too do?
This is the last part that confuses me, maybe i just don't 'trust' it will hinge itself?

Thanks again for advice has made a big difference and officially broke 100 in a comp game (had done so in social rounds).

Alright swingophiles

Tried around with some swing thoughts/feels bear in mind these a feels not actual
Body Turn Only

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3E45zy-rs0
Body Turn Self Hinging

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXWLXB42gfQ
Body Turn Self Hinging Stopping at 90*

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seKW7ZPUf3Y
Body Turn Using momentum to hinge club, probably doing some of it myself. Not sure

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcJm-SPt5Ck

Best feels like stopping at 90* or momentum, but really hard to pin what is happening on last one. Probably nothing different!

That last 3cm at the top of the backswing could be the key to unlocking scratch

The 3rd swing has the best rhythm, the others look a bit like you throw from the top.

Would love to see some face on.

Second swing with the deliberate hinge, you pick it up way outside...that can work if you loop it back inside but be careful.

Cool 3rd or 2nd is closest to normal, rest just experimentation.

Feel like they all go outside a bit

Ill see if i can get some face on, hard at home with the fence there :>

Definately some throw, been trying to work on the punch shots, unfortunately they go just as high
