View Full Version : Monthly Mug / NAGA - Sept 2016

Hatchman
3rd September 2016, 09:08 PM
As per usual - we're looking for the best Stableford score for the month, and the worst (No DSR adjustments).
Prize is an OzGolf shout - the NAGA has to buy the Monthly Mug winner a beverage/pie/kitchener bun/pork roll/premium ball/coffee or some other agreed prize if they meet at an OzGolf event within a year.
Just a bit of fun really.

Another miserable round in the 20s with 22 fantastic points. Actually started to hit the ball well but poor decision making and some poor putting were costly. Next post will either be in the giving away golf thread or a massive turn around will have me posting back in here for the monthly mug!

Leader boards have been started for this month.

Backintheswing has jumped out to an early lead in the "Hit Them Well" list with 41pts. Everyone has the bulk of the moth to take the top spot.

Wools has continued the slump for now and has posted an early lead in the "Hit Them Often" list.

Courty has himself on both leader boards at this early stage.

Don't feel too bad. My normal group played yesterday without me - it was cold and windy, but the scoring was 24, 22, 21 and my replacement had 17.

And Monsta also had 21 - DSR was 75 though - another 10 players finished behind him.

The NAGA is waiting for your arrival :D

Quick update after the midweek and Saturday rounds.

Courty and Coopers Country post the months first 37pt rounds bumping all the 34pt round out of the top 5.
Jonno joins the top 5 ties in 5th with 35pts

Shazza_rs and Captain Spud are the only new additions in the bottom 5. Their scores of 26pts and 28pts wasn't bad enough to bump any of the others out.

27 points.

Proved again that it is possible to score 11 points on a nine without a wipe. (At least, it wasn't par this time.)

36 points in a round that promised so much.
Was square with the card after 12 then dropped 6 shots in the last 6 holes.
Was still a flag with cap dropping to 4.3 and no further flags for another 9 rounds so hopefully I can drop it even further.

The last couple of days has seen a number of changes and movement on both leader boards.

We have a new leader with the NSW Champ spanner039 tearing it up with a fine 42pts
This has bumped all those that were 35pts hanging on to 5th spot out of the top 5.
Captain Spud and blurry join the ties in 4th with 37pts.
Steve57 and mrbluu join the growing list tied in 5th on 36pts

Dotty joins the bottom list tied in 4th with 27pts.
Is everyone owning up to their bad rounds?

Captian Spud, mrbluu and Dotty join Peppas with scores on both leader boards.

Thanks Ash.
The course layout is pretty good with a good mix of holes both long and short. Condition wise it is slowly coming along and from what a current member who I know told me is getting better all the time.
It was preferred lies through the green on Saturday to a card length.
And the only website is the Ipswich Country Club where it doesn't even mention Golf!
I had never played either the old layout or the new but I enjoyed it.
We are playing a Tri District event there next Sunday against Darling Downs and Moreton Districts.
No idea on comp days unfortunately.

Update after the weekend games complete.

PerryGroves joins bits tied in 2nd with fine 41pts.
Steve57 posts the first 39pt round for the month bumping all those on 36 including himself off the Top Leader Board.
Courty playing some good golf this month gets his 3rd entry on the Top Leader Board with another 38pts.
mrbluu bumps his 36pt round out with 38pts and continues to have scores in both Leader Boards.

The round at Magenta Shores sees the only 3 changes in the Hit Them Often listings.
Gammon ties Monsta for the Leaders positions with 21pts.
Bitter posts a new entry with 24pts bumping all those on 28pts out.
The last of the trio Johno ties 4th place with 26pts.

And don't stand in front and to the right of him - ever.

Quick update after the weekend and the final push to close out the month.

No changes to the leaders of both the best and worst.
Biggest changes have been in the Hit Them Often Leader board.
Highballin's rounds of 23 and 25pts sees new low sores that bumps all the 26 and 27 pointers out of the Leader board. Add to that a 24 point round since last update and highballin has 3 entries in the bottom 5. That's some fine tractor driving right there :D

New additions to the Hit Them Well leader board just expand the list with no one dropping out.
BenM had a fine 41pts. The John Deere Classic saw Pepps 41pts, Tomsy 39pts and mrbluu on 37pts. Lesson to be learnt by all "never play Peppas for lunch" you'll get hustled.
Jimandr SA Champs tractor broke down posting 37pts and WBennett changed names posting a second 37pt round for the month.

There are now 4 multiple round players in the top 5 being Peppas, Courty, mrbluu and WBennett.

September is now closed off.

Catain Nemo's 40pt round late in the month knocked all seven 37pt rounds out of the top 5.
Spanner039 posted a 42pt round early in the month and stayed on top of the Leader Board all the way to the end, well done.
After all the 37's were bumped it left Peppas (38-41) and Courty (38-38) the only multiple entries in the top 5.
Rumours abound that Peppa's 41 should have been higher but his mind was only on hustling Tomsy by a shot for lunch and the odour of a burning hand break lingered in the air.

Highballing dominated the "Hit Them Often" bottom 5 with 3 entries. None of them bad or good enough depending on which way you want to look at it to take the top spot as worst for for the month.

Questionnaires for the winners will be sent out soon.
