(Let's try this again!), 82/73 (for 35 points), in the mid-week MM round at NH today. Started off great (par, birdie, par) but snap hook (one of two for the day), off the tee on the 4th lead to a litany of errors (and a dent in my 6 iron), totaling 10 strokes after I thought I could hit it away from the boundary fence.

Did my best to fight back but a lost ball on the par 5 16th ended all hope and all that was left was to limp to the finish.

Also, waiting on my replacement putter so was putting with a blade for the first time in a couple of months and it didn't help so a few unwelcome 3 jiggles added to a frustrating day.

Positives to take out of today:

a) my irons are starting to come back.

b) whilst no less devastating, snap hooks are better than block cuts

85/76 in the MM at NH today. A day of really good shots followed by equally bad shots. Frustrating. Really pissed off after 'losing' my ball on the 16th after no one saw it leave the tee box, played a provisional and scored 6 for 1 and then found it just the other side of a small bush as we walked to the next tee box; a short chip distance from the green!

MM at warragul yesterday , 45,38 / 83 nett 74 , back to back triples on 5th n 6th , plus a double on 13 th , no birdies . Day was over on the 5 th had a couldn't be f'd day after that. Wont go into details except to say i fail to understand why greenkeeping insist on shaving the grass on a steep slope, that is about a metre off the putting surface , and was less than 10 metres from the pin , even after the greens committee chairman assured me they don't .

91/80 nett in MM/1st round of club champs. :x

Started reasonably well but had a shocker on 14 (130m par 3, 5th hole for the day) dropping 5 strokes. This included a double hit when I knicked the ball a second time mid air on my follow through coming out of a bunker. It was special. I was mentally cooked after this hole. Finding fairways wasnt a problem. Approach shots were however, which resulted in several doubles from prime position off the tee. This seems to be the story of my life at MGGC. A few stupid 3 putts didnt help the confidence with the flat stick either.

Started with 2 wipes but then got going to be 15pts after 9,par on 10 then hit a drive that was hit or either picked up by a social club. Ended in me having to wipe the hole. 2 holes later my drive landed left fringe of the fairway got up to the spot to find my ball (new chrome soft) had been hit by another social club and had left me his ball which was a junk callaway and was sitting surrounded by trees. Another wipe and day over.
Scored 29pts in the end but just told pro shop to not enter a score.

Just getting my nomination for May NAGA in early - a cheeky 21 points at Duntryleague. Started off 3 jagging 5 of the first 6 holes until I worked out the green speed (which was somewhere around 12) - and to not be above the hole, EVER.

If they didn't hit the middle of the hole, they didnt go in.

But what a cracking track. Strongly recommend getting out there and having a hit if you are in the area.

Played Darwin GC single Stab.

Nothing exciting to report, the Pink Bio Cell that worked so well last week didn't fire. Wasn't terrible, but very rarely was I in the right position for the hole. Iron play was decent, but couldn't get many GIR with a fair few second shots being chip outs and bunts. Was super happy with the putting while not making much. Burned the hole from 30ft probably 5 or 6 times, but nothing dropped. Really need to work on my short game, as a number of times I ended up less than 2m off the green, but couldn't convert these into pars.

33pts, and a played to 9 dropping off saw another 0.7 added to drop me back to 11.7. Poor quality sandbagging that this happens after champs. Oh well.

Took the morning off work to get my handicap back up for the upcoming Holden Scrambles (yes, blatant farming ). Did exactly what I set out to do with a minus 6 (par round today). And now I'm feeling sorry for myself for having such a sh*t score.:?

Drives were good with a good proportion of fairways hit and those that weren't on the short stuff, were all safe. Irons are slowly coming back (no fats but a couple of thins), but chipping was really on and off and my putting was really appalling. Hope my replacement Ketsch comes in this week, I really need it back!!

Today's game was the ultimate test of whether I am a glass half full guy or a glass half empty guy. I have had a few injury enforced weeks off, due to what Dr Google tells me is a problem with my intercostal muscle. All I know is that the muscle stretching from my back around to my ribs hurt quite a lot on one specific angle of twisting movement. The first glass half-full judgement was the fact I was able to play at all. It wasn't much fun to miss out on golf in perfect golfing weather.

The score of 39 points should be an automatic glass totally full judgement, but it isn't. 4 over off the stick, with 3 threeputts, including 17 and 18. It should have been better.

My first 12 holes were great, with nothing to complain about except a 3jack from 8 feet, turning birdie into bogey. I hit a poor drive on the par 5 13th, a great recovery, then a great 6 iron to 10 feet. Then I missed the putt. I hit two poor shots on 14, then a fabbo sand wedge to 2 feet to save par. 16 was similar, and I threejacked 17 and 18 after mediocre approach shots.

The strange summary is that I hit 9 GIR, and played them 2 over, and missed 9 GIR, and played them in 2 over as well.

Overall though, I'm taking the glass half-full approach, and celebrating the many good shots I hit. It was a fun day.

37 Stab points at NH today. Played with a group of fellas I'd never actually had a round with before. Really enjoyable round. Could have been so much better if I didn't chunk a chip (playing with a new wedge probably didn't help), on the 16th after almost driving the green. Even though I only hit 3 fairways, my driving was the best it's been in a while and although I'm not playing with my preferred putter, I still managed 30 putts (including 2 x 3 jiggles).

Today I played my second round at my home club since July, and the first since December. I really should do it more often....

I slapped it around for the first 5 holes, but got away with only making one bogey. A duck hook with my normally reliable 3W started a messy run through the tougher holes on the course and I turned at 7 over par. I felt like I finally flushed one on my 13th hole with the 4 iron, after a wayward drive, and that seemed to be a turning point, as I hit it consistently from that point on parring my way through the last 6 holes. Not bad considering my lack of play, and I'm satisfied with it. If the greens weren't sanded (to cover up the fact that they are rooted), then I may have sunk a few putts for birdies, but getting the distance right was tough.

Score (B9 1st): 39-36-75 nett 67 (Par 32-35-67)

I found out today that club champs start next week. The timesheet is full at the moment, but I could only play if it was before 7am next week anyway. I'll aim to play rounds 3 and 4, which are the matchplay qualifiers instead.

For the third straight round in a row I stank it up and consecutive weeks it ended real ugly.
Scratched my way around the front nine for 17pts after having 2 3 jiggles from 6 foot in the first 4 holes.
Was optimistic starting the back nine having an 8 foot birdie putt. Felt like a blown up balloon let go when the attempt sling shot out and so did the par save. All hope and enthusiasm was lost in that one moment and the flood gates of crap shots opened for the remainder of the round.
Confidence is real high for tomorrows 27 hole Open, NOT.

Greenskeeper's Revenge yesterday - super quick greens, dumb pin placements but it was fun none the less.

25 points - 16/9. 31 points won B Grade.

27 Hole Open @ Kapunda

With strong winds, everything in the championship positions and swinging it like a rusty gate it was a recipe for a big score.
First 9 was a continuation of extreme ugliness from yesterday with no drives in play, missed putts from 2 foot, 3 jiggles and an OB. 9 over after 5 and 12 over at the conclusion of first nine it was boil over central.
Some how managed to make a series of scratchy pars and the pressure valve was released or was that the 2nd Jim Beam cans :-s at the start of the back nine. After much struggling with over top casting swings with the driver I finally got one in the slot on the long par 4 15th. Pumped out a 286m monster with some down and across wind assistance. Backed it up with 243m straight into the wind on the par 5 15th to take the long drive. Stood on the 17th tee still 12 over and dropped 3 in the last 2 holes with a double (shank included) and a 3 jiggle.
Last 9 was a mixture of good and rubbish but made some good up and downs to finish off average.

Stats
128_88-40
6 effective drives 0-3-3
6 GIR 2-2-2
2 GIR from ED 0-1-1
45 putts 19-14-12
x1 birdie, x5 doubles, x1 triple, x4 3jiggles, x2 hosel rockets, x1 OB

Chopped around for 31 pts yesterday 14/17 wipe on the first hole and didn't get much better for a while
The only highlight of the day was getting the birdie hole on the 15th
smacked a drive into the crap on the righthand side , found it sitting 2 foot off the ground stuck in a bush
was about 60m from the hole , couldn't see the hole , took a swing with the gap wedge and its landed 25 ft from the pin
Sunk the putt , absolute arse . Finished with 11 points in the last 4 holes , so doesn't say much for the rest of the day
A 4 man ambrose , and a pinehurst last week has thrown my game out

Nice Mick... Well batted

78/69 for the Monthly Mug in some toughish conditions today.

MM on Sat chopped it up for 92/81

Shot an 87 off the stick today which is incredibly ordinary but I was dealing with this

41218

That my friends is my bruised left butt cheek. Realistically I shouldn't have played as I could hardly swing, unfortunately I'm an idiot

78/62 last Thursday at lakelands. Slope is stupid sometimes. Off index 13.3 and hcp was 16. Still hit the ball as good as I have for over a year.

Just trying to get the Monthly Mug thread up to date for May.
In the spirit of the fun it would be greatly appreciated if the stableford points for the quoted can be posted either in this thread or over in the Monthly Mug thread for May.

I thought the N.A.G.A (Bob) was the important one :D

My 32 points today doesn't put me in contention for anything, but I did break a no doubles streak, unfortunately.

I actually hit the ball really well for the most part, but didn't have any luck, and I couldn't hole any putts. Some days the ball misses bunkers by two feet and rebounds next to the pin, but today I hit a few two feet the other way, into bunkers and buried under the lip. Apparently, this part of the game is supposed to be character-building.

-3 in a par round at NH today. Lost ball each time I tried my 3wood so wiped the par 5 both times. Also could not go left on the par 4 7th/16th and wiped that twice as well. Parred all the par 3s (my Ketsch is back - yay!) but had trouble with my new 56 wedge again and was way to long a lot of the time. 20 putts (6 wiped holes with no putts at all), and 8 pars could not save me.

Single v Par today, finished +2 after bogeying and losing the first two holes.
39/35 off the stick for 74/67 to win the comp on a count back.
Played in an absolute gale but hit the ball really solid most of the day.
Will get me back to 6 but depending on the DSR could even be back to 5.

First round of club championships on Saturday absolute chopfest for 84
Got what I deserved , no practice for 3 weeks , and totally not prepared for the game
Still fixing no 6 tee block 30 mins before we hit off , so wasn't ready at all
Thankfully a chopfest for everyone in A grade so not too far behind

80/71 for 33 points for the MM at NH today. Ordinary start but was treading water with bogey/bogey/par/par golf until the dreaded par 5 6th where once again I could not make the corner on my second shot and went 6 for 1. Made par on par 4 7th after nearly scalping someone skulking in the trees to the leftt with my tee shot. But then had an absolute meltdown on the long par 3 with a 6 for f/a. A par on the 9th and then a tap in birdie on the par 4 10th gave hope and then I maintained one under par (for the back 9), until the dreaded 16th where despite a great drive with my 3 wood off the deck to within 50m, I three putted!!! Managed a four on the long par 3 17th and then duffed my drive on the last, hit reasonable recovery but then my 52deg pitch from 80m shot over the back of the green into thick kykuyu. Ended the round with a 6 for 1. 32 putts, one 3 jiggle only two FIRs and four GIRs. Irons working now. Hybrids and 3w 50/50, Pitches and chips not so much.
