Some dates to consider for this years S.A Holden Cheat Ball

http://www.holdenscramble.com.au/event#/customer/997/schedule/2016/3931

Not sure how we go handicap wise atm as you can only have 2x single figure GA Hcps in a team.
I'm trying my hardest by playing crap to get above 9.9 but it's not working so I'm stuck as one of the singles.

(http://www.holdenscramble.com.au/event#/customer/997/schedule/2016/3931)Here's a few that I could be interested in (Preference in green):

Aug Sun 28th - Clare
Start time 10am
Cost per person $39.50

1. Hatch - GA 7.3 (locked in)
2. Chilled - GA 6.3 (locked in)
3. Cooper Country - 11.1 (locked in)
4. Hard_Pan - GA 10.0 (locked in)

Sep Sun 18th - Ardrossan

Sep Sun 25th - McDuckcrappin

Be interested in some but probably not The Dunes as too soon after getting back from QLD.
Might be out to double figures soon if don't pick my game up

May Sun 8th - Copper Club The Dunes

June Sat 11th - North Haven (Hard Pans Home Course)

July Sun 31st - Balaklava (ex home club of mine)

Aug Fri 19th - Links Lady Boy (would need a day off for this one)
Aug Sun 28th - ClareI'd be interested in the above. Possibly not all of them but most, in particular The Dunes (haven't played yet), Balaklava (haven't played yet), Links Lady Bay, and Clare (haven't played yet).

I think we would be ok for H/C's, depending on who wants to play of course. We could push for two groups if there was enough interest.

We'll see if we can get the ball rolling for the 1st one.
I'm very keen for the first one in that list being The Dunes as I've never played it before either.

The Dunes Sun May 8th
Start time 9:30am
Cost per player $45

1. Hatch - GA 6.?
2. Chilled - GA 7.?

Have added the names of those intereseted in the OP and will keep updating under each game.

Yeh, somewhere between 2-2 1/2 hrs.

That's 2 of us on single GA's so need double digit players now.
I might be able to get my dad if we get stuck.

I still hate cheatballs so I'm out. Even more so when you've got to travel long distances for them!

If nearer the time you need players for the NH one, then you might be able to twist my arm - purely to support HP and the club's new owners

I have a love hate relationship with these things but any excuse to have a hit with you guys is enough for me. :)

I too haven't played the Dunes. My H/C is currently 9.2 which for the dunes could either be 9 (silver tees), or 10 (gold tees). Adding to the mix, we've got two weeks of par comps coming up and my next flag (a 9.0), comes up in a fortnight. So odds are I will be in double figures come May. ;)

I know what your saying. I'm not a real fan of the format either but happy to use it as way to play other courses and with forum members.

Mosquito Lakes ( 15+ years since I've been there)
Tanunda (Need all the help I can get to putt the 10th)
Clare.

Current GA HCP is 9.1 and going out quick and with all of that water I'll be playing around in a couple of weeks, I cant see it coming down.

I always refer to Mawson Lakes as Mosquito Lakes on account of the great clouds of mozzies that hover around the creek that runs the length of the 5th and 6th holes. Never played South Lakes so can't comment but yep, probably get a few there too. :)

Definitely South Lakes! It was diabolical when we were down there - a few of us vowed to never go back! Seriously, I have house-boated, camped etc and NEVER seen as many Mozzies as on that day.

First one at the Dunes is only 2 Sudays away now. Looking to finalise the group over the next week.

Just a reminder there can only be 2 players per group with a G.A hcp less than 10.0
We have problem with 3 of us in the singles atm.

So far we have:
Group 1.
1. Hatch 6.0
2. Chilled 7.2 or Hardpan 9.3
3.
4.

Group 2.
1. Hardpan 9.3

It's a tough comp to do any good in.

I just played the Carbrook one on Friday, we all had from 16 - 18 caps, and ended up with I think a daily of 9.63 or something silly like that. We shot 4 under for the round with no bogies (pretty damm good for a group with no single figure guy in it), so ended up with 57.4 nett, and still lost by 6 strokes.

It's just so hard to know if everyone else is playing honestly or not.

Yeh, the comp does have a bit of a stigma attached to it. Often referred to as Holden cheat ball.
Personally and I'm sure I speak for the other SA OzGolfers, we just use the games to get together for a game away from our home tracks. It's not to chase winning a trip away for the finals.
Yes we try to play the best we can on the day strictly by the rules and if the score happens to be good enough so be it.

The low markers have to hit greens from some funny positions if you are to score well, as well as putt the dots off it!

Gonna a be a bit chilly and maybe a touch of fog going by what Wednesday was like. It will be very amusing if it is foggy and decides to hand around with a shotgun start and all bases loaded. Hatch and waza, be prepared to duck and cover even if you think you heard a 'fore!'

I also look forward to Hatch's appraisal of the course as this will be his first hit since the new management's 'upgrade' of the course. The greens now are quite a bit faster for one, quite a few trees have been pruned and/or removed, fairways are a bit better, bunkers have sand in them now (mostly), and the tee boxes are getting reno'ed.

See you fellas there! :)

Sun was out early, no fog, cool not cold and a bit of breeze made for good conditions for golf.
Course condition was much different to the last time visited. The rains have helped immensely but there is plenty of evidence the new caretakers have put in a bucket load of work in a short space of time. Greens are quicker and not bumpy. A lot of trees have been trimmed up around the place so it no longer looks scruffy. Grass coverage is returning on the fairways. Things are certainly on the up after BTM wrecked the course. The future looks good .

Now on to today's round. Getting off the tee and having the option to choose didn't happen too often and it was take who ever had one in play. With all that some good saves for par were made on the long par 4's early to hold it all together before making birdies on the par 5 from 2 foot (nice pitch Waz) and the long par 3 from 8 foot.
Held it there for a few more holes before making 3 bogeys in the last 6 holes to finish 1 over ending up in participation certificate territory. Still an enjoyable day with good company and thanks to HP for teeing up some locals to join us.
Danny did well to grind it out with his first game back from a long absence after the horrific elbow & wrist injury (push bike crash for those at home). Poor guy was topping everything until the last few holes towards the end.

Very much a pleasure to have Hatch and waza at the home track today and proud of the new management putting in quite an effort to have it as presentable as it was today.

Typically, winning was never a consideration but as far as yours truly was concerned, there was a lot of fun to be had. I thought my team did quite reasonably and we were two under the card for most of the day, until the last two holes where we suffered some blips on some crucial shots to finish even par off the stick.

If it's the normal contingent taking part in an SA based Scramble event this won't even register on the 'dodgy' scale!

Today's winning score fits ^.

Organisation was shambles. Scramble site listed 10 o'clock start, club site had 11 o'clock listed. By the time that got organised it was more like 11:30-45 hit off. They didn't have enough give away caps so had the gift bags organised for the locals to collect theirs later but gave them out add hoc so we have to collect ours from a drop off point back in Rad if and when they arrive at Waikerie.

We were reasonably happy with our score of 5 under for nett 62 and weren't even close to placing in 6th spot in the run down.
With the chances we missed from 8-12 foot, 8 under would have been as about as good as it could have got and that would still be a long way off.
Three out of four played a large number of good shots. Hard_Pans drives and long seconds, Waza's pitching and seconds and Thecollective's seconds and a couple of awesome chips knocked dead from very average positions to save pars. As for the other team member? The only thing he did well was put the entry in. A fairly ordinary day for the boat anchor Hatch ☹️.

Had a great day with great company on a very good golf course, thanks guys [emoji106]

Fun day out guys, and good to meet a newy Coopers Country, will see you again on another outing.

Well that was a shambles! lol. We will need to go back next year to defend the bottom of the ladder :(

As above, we started in a blaze of glory and ended like a wet firecracker, it just didn't happen, too much choppin'. Clare not a bad course, you would want some sort of preferred lies, and way too many fade shots for my liking, so it will never really be one of my favs. But always good to see a new course, enjoyed the day out.

Great company made for good day.
Thought we might be in for a good day for a change after the birdie, birdie, birdie start. CC's iron off the down hill lie into 17 and that 236m 3wood bullet onto green on the fly on 18 setting up an eagle putt were awesome shots.
Sadly I think that's where the highlight reel ended for the day ☹️.
We couldn't buy a putt (common scramble theme) and had to chip too many times after all missing greens.
