Think the '96 followed the '87's highlight or lowlights. Was too young to remember the 87 but what a kick in the nuts that would have been.

Watched Normans '96 implosion last night. Still as hard to watch as what it was back then.

I watched this as well. Norman was unable to grip the putter and just looked like he wanted to lose. I can't believe how he was gripping and regriping the putter.

What I found the most amusing part was going back and looking at the size of the driver heads and how small they looked.

That's funny after not playing for 25yrs when I started playing again I found driver heads like watermelons, stick the ball on a 3in tee and how can you miss. There was a lot more airswings back in the day!

Watched the 87 highlights yesterday. Poor old Norman really had it in the bag until that 1 in a million chip in from Mize.

Speaking of Mize, some talk about on social media claiming he took an incorrect drop in the 15th, and should have been penalised 😕

Yeah what a dud

"Greg Norman won 91 professional events in his career, including 20 PGA TOUR titles. Victorious in two majors, he won the British Open Championship in 1986 and 1993, and became the first person in PGA TOUR history to surpass $10 million in career earnings."

Another Norman choke that one, bogeying the last. But he did Birdie the 4 before that.

OK folks. The coverage has finally started, on Fox Plus, using the red button.

Forecast is for strong winds, by US golf standards, which should make things interesting.

For those who haven't checked it out yet, they have amen corner and 15 - 16 on separate channels (but not yet, nobody has got that far).

This leaderboard is already looking pretty snazzy...unless you're Ernie Else making 10 on you're opening hole. Or Fowler taking 8 on 13. Tidy start by J-Day. Hope Spieth doesn't get too far out in front after R1.

Ernie showed why he is a true champion by finishing his round. Many other golfers would have pulled the pin not something nice to happen to anyone but he fronted the media like a man. How many times did you see tiger in the car park sorry no interviews after bad rounds. And how many times you see ernie in the car park no interviews NEVER. That's the difference between ernie and tiger. Tiger may have more silverware but ernie has respect.

Sure it wasn't 6 for a 9?You're right. Guess the commentators lost count. Easy to do the way the ball was moving back and forwards across the hole. Moving when putting (as he was doing) is a recipe for disaster. Did he say he experienced a brain freeze, nothing worked?

No the Commentators got it WRONG! Give them no quarter! They are ruthless in their Commentary, so they deserve nothing but condemnation. Shit how many people did they have watching and they still got it wrong! **** 'em, live by the sword die by the......

When I saw the video today I was shocked but not surprised. It's been an issue for a while, remember seeing him miss a putt from about 30cm last year (I just googled and found it was at Dunhill Links). He didn't even hit the hole!

At the time I thought he looked like a bloke with major putting issues. Such a shame, he is an absolute champion and I hope he can find a way through it. Maybe he should hang with Kevin Na for a while, he has obviously found a way through his mindf£$& so it can definitely be done.

Ive seen him do that before. I think it was last year he hit a spectator off the tee which shook him up then proceeded to dance around the hole. It was painful to watch.

We are back on with (only) two feature groups, a bit earlier than yesterday.

Bubba in the first group, and Jason Day in the other.

I was asked by a playing partner yesterday whether they swore at the Masters. Ian Poulter just proved that they do.

I don't like the look of this...Spieth is already six shots ahead of his nearest competitors. If he doesn't come back to the field or no-one else steps up, this may all but be a done deal come Saturday arvo. No-one else is firing at all. How can Spieth seemingly play so ordinary from Hawaii to The Masters, then be burning the field at Augusta?? I don't totally hate Spieth...just prefer to see a closer competition...and for J-Day to win...or Rory. Gotta tip the hat to Spieth if he goes back to back though...

Unfortunately, if the forecast is right and the greens hold their speed, it will be a moving backwards day for most. So far, it reminds me a bit of 2007, where the greens were superfast and nobody could break par except Zach Johnson. Two par rounds will be very good for almost everybody who makes the cut.

Personally, I prefer to watch guys making birdies instead of grinding out pars, but if it is close and exciting at the end it will still be good.

Bugger changing the golf ball. The hole is the same for everyone. By all means alter it a bit or leave it alone. They've altered heaps of holes in recent years. It's a level playing field. The 13th still has it's share of drama and plenty have been derailed there.

Nicklaus, Faldo, Seve, Norman, Hogan etc all played slow at the Masters especially in windy conditions. Getting the wind wrong in shot selection on this course leads to big scores.

Exactly, many ways to go. I am a bit nonplussed in that the ball and drivers don't go no further than 5 or more years ago. The athlete is maybe getting better, depth is for sure. It's not the equipment so much now. They don't make the 100 meters 105 to nullify todays better athletes :D
