Doesn't surprise me at all. Both Holden and Ford in Australia sells sh1tty car base on global standard.

(Faults and faults... and lots of faults... just sheer poor build)

Andy....depends how you define poor. The quality is not as good as some other brands, but the product is good overall.

Andy....depends how you define poor. The quality is not as good as some other brands, but the product is good overall.

How I define poor is how many faulty car per overall production - which is realiabiltiy

For example: M Benz is a good car because their faulty rate is 1:9000 something

Porches is Crap! 1:350

I think Ford is around 1:500 something and Holden is 1:600 something.

Alo,

Get your conlusions correct. Porsche has a high intial fault rate this is correct. However, Porsche then has one of the lowest long term fault rates and highest long term owner satisfaction levels of all car manufacturers.

You would be very hard pressed to find a Porsche owner that hasn't owned more than one or intends to buy on again.

MBenz on the other hand have had very significant declines in quality control of recent years and there reputation has suffered significantly for it.

miro,

got the website to support it?

I always know the one I was reading is outdated but can't find a new one.

By the way I believe what you are saying on M Benz miro....

Making the C class and below in S Africa really blows the QC aways.

1 Lexus 93.2

Is it 1 per 93.2... or 93:2?

Skoda at no.2? Is that because out of the 10 people who actually own one 9 were happy.

Just joking if there is actually anyone out there who owns one of these. Couldn't tell you the last time I saw one on an Australian road. Having said that would be way more popular than the good old LADA

No its an index of "satisfaction" as opposed to faults per car.

I would take a Mk1 Escort 2 door with a 2L Pinto or Cossie Turbo over just about anything (except XR6T, any GT/GTHO/GTP)

I have read that the critics rate the Ford straight six as good as any in the world, they put it up there with the BMW six's widely recognized as the best straight six built.

Add the turbo to the Ford six and you have one ball tearing motor car.

Terry.

considering that a Taxi does about 800,000 clicks before they throw them away, and seems that 99% of Taxi's are Falcons, the old ford cant be too bad.

When I was a cabbie in my uni days, I was driving an EF Falcon with 930,000 kms on it with the original motor and gearbox. It was the 2nd diff, but other than that, nothing to indicate it had nearly a million k's on it. The Falcons are pretty robust.

990B...I am not sure there is a lot of difference in reliability Holden V Ford...there may be model to model, bt not overall.

VN is more reliable than EA
VT and AU probably even on reliability
BA/BF probably better than a VY/VZ...

It all swings around all the time though.

A Ford Service manager would probably say the same thing about Fords.

Well I don't rate any service manager. I had my PT get it's final service under lease last week. He could not explain to me how they could do an accurate assessment of the brake pads without removing the wheels. I have mags but the brakes are not that visible. They are trainee or rejected salesmen I think.
