View Full Version : Monthly Gross Gun - March 2016

For all the lower markers who don't carry sandbags and have no chance of having 44 points, this thread is for you.

Lowest "played to" handicap for the month is the winner. This will account for different pars on different courses and different ratings. If it takes off, maybe LarryLong can incorporate into his monthly interview.

Sorry Dotty, I'll post here too but doubt it will hold up. Played Penrith today in the Vardon event and had my best ever round in relation to par +3 off the stick 75 scratch. Not sure what the payed to be, but I think it will be to scratch or 1.

Started on the back and had +4. Came home -1 on the front. Only 1 birdie but no doubles and no 3 putts.

The JetSpeed bb6 combo was awesome only missing 2 fairways all day.

I had a played to 2.7 on Friday, so your lead didn't last long.

But I notice a couple of claims in the monthly thread that probably beat me, so my lead won't last either.

First comp game at my home club since January on Saturday, and snuck in a played to 2.7. Doubled the last, so wasn't the best finish, but we played the last 3 holes in a tropical downpour and I couldn't even see where I was hitting.

Anyone else had a low round?

Mate, you surely have shot better than 3 over somewhere. Of course you have! I just looked at your golflink. You parred Cabra for a played to +1. You also parred Stonecutters Ridge. How could you forget? They say it pays to have a short memory in golf.

Mate, you must have played awesome considering your nett score was a podium finish out of over 200 starters. Top 10 scratch too.....awesome effort. Driver being on song is what led to my good round too. I just need to back it up a few times before I can be Vardon eligible :(

This club has a really weird setup,

Best card was mine at nett 66 then nett 68 then 72 and above but they had already decided the slope was 68?

I always thought DCR was set from 17th best player of the day?

Anyone offer light on this??

I think you're mixing it up with the old system.

The DSR is not longer the 17.5th percentile. It is much more convoluted than that.

DSR will provide golfers with a rating that is a reflection of the conditions they played under. The complex formulas will determine whether the difficulty presented at the time by the playing conditions was normal or different to normal.

Some muppets programed a computer to predict what a given field should shoot and compares it to what they did shoot. From that comes the dsr.

So that's how only 3 players in field of 30 shoot under par nett and DSR is still 2 under par????

Makes complete sense!!!! Not!!!

This is why...

DSR = SR + SUM{(36+Par-SR-CPA-mh-b-S)/(m'h+b')2} / {SUM(1/(m'h+b')2) +1/CSD2}
