Went out for my first full round with the Ping i's and they performed pretty well, I was a bit left most of the day. I then hit a couple side-by-side with cobra amp cell pros and the cobras were straight, pings were a bit left. The specs are as follows for the pings:

Is the offset on these irons considered a lot? Would it result in going left if I was previously using clubs with zip or very little offset? Is it something that I'll get used to?

I think the long irons have a bit of offset but the short ones not so much. It can make you hit it left.

BTW, I'd love the answer to be that it is me :)

Something else to consider: Lie angle.

PING have moved to blue dot as standard, which is ~0.75° upright.

So if these are the new iE1s, and they're blue dot and your Cobra's are stock... this might explain the deviation.

I'd definitely check the lie angle. I got some S55s a while ago and got fitted for blue dot. Everything was starting left and going left. My local pro got me to hit a few ball off the lie board, and sure enough they were too upright. It turns out they should have been red dot. Everything is coming out much straighter now.

As above, Lie more then offset - You should notice that you pull the shorter irons more then the longer ones if lie is to blame.

Cheers guys. I am usually 2 degrees upright and half inch over. These are standard length... Might be worth fixing

Offset definitely will make someone not used to it go left.

I agree. Offset gives a split second longer for you to close the face before impact. If you have no problem with that, it's likely the face will close a bit more than with no offset, making it go a little let compared to something with no or little offset.

Yep offset in pings suck.
Never get use to it

Where does the ball start with a strike towards the hosel? Is the average golfer more likely to make inside contact with off-set irons or non off-set irons?

Interesting question. Whilst I don't think offset per se makes the ball go left, I do think it makes it harder to line up square. So I've been trying out irons with minimal offset. They are less left for me, but I am also much more shank-prone. Dunno if the two are connected.
