Can't see any reason why I wouldn't play this? Looking forward to it.

P.S I'd prefer early morning.

no calendar link ...

I'll do my best to get us an early tee-time, but i can't make any promises. It tends to fill up pretty quick.

onya Moe :smt023 You can do that course review while you're at it :smt002

It's a stroke event, same as last year.

I'll get a definite price when i phone up to ask about tee-times, probably be around the $20 mark like last year.

AndyP

Dave, the sheet doesn't come out 'till 2 weeks prior, but i spoke to the guys in the office and asked if i could get us in as early as possible .. hopefully we can get the 7/7:30 start like last time.

I'll let you know when we get it confirmed.

Can any of you that have said you want to play, but haven't clicked on the calendar registration function, please do so .. it makes it a lot easier to get names/details etc. This looks like it's going to be a big one so i don't want to leace anybody out ... so make sure you register your interest properly

As much as I'd like to see choppa take out this event, I think are a few others who can go really low around Nudgee. Still, I think at the rate he's going, chop is the man to beat for POTY 06. :)

Sorry guys, especially DaveMason, I'm going to have to pull out of this one.

My missus won a competition on Nova - a trip for 2 to Perth to see Eskimo Joe. All flights, accommodation and transfers are included. We leave on the Saturday and don't come back until Monday.

I've never been to Perth and don't get to travel much with a young family so it's an offer I couldn't refuse.

Dave, it means your first two matches will be forfeits. Maybe you could play against AndyP and he can take my spot??

Sorry again, I know you have to travel a long way for these days.

No.

1. It's not necessarily a forfeit for Steve v Dave, as they may be able to organise another date for their match.
2. The rules state that I would play Dave, if Steve can't.

Hopefully number 1 can happen.

Have fun in Perth, Steve.

I am currently in Bundaberg working in Childers on the recent Smut incursion into the Qld sugarcane industry. I have been here since last weekend and will be here through this weekend and back to woodford Monday at the earliest if enough replacement inspectors can be found between now and then.

Thanks to my partners in golf... Dave, P diddy and Mr Rs...

Highlights....
* P diddy sink putts from everywhere
* Spending 4 minutes looking for Pete's ball only to finad it and watch him knock it on while the rest of us missed the green...
* Dave striking some pure iron shots....Pure ....
* P diddy chip in on the first
* Getting up and down from just about every bunker I was in...

Thanks for organising the day Jarro. It was good fun. It was good to catch up with Ian and Kee again. And PeteyD was struck with his usual run of bad luck. Although it was bunkers this time, not the dreaded trees of Wynnum.

That was my first shot at the Nudgee north course and I was plesently surprised - I don't rate the south course much (just my opinion). Can't put my finger on it, but there were quite a few holes where I was standing on the tee thinking how good the layout was.

No idea about count back, but AP's post suggest compare first nine

AndyP
19th June 2006, 11:27 AM
How does the countback work?
Countback is done on the back nine of the course (10-18 ), which we played first. If still equal, then it is last six, last three, then last hole, I believe.

So you tied the winner, but he had a better score for whatever remaining holes the countback went to. And you must have done better than some other guy, because you got 2nd on countback from 3rd.

Moe Norman

I just can't get too enthused about the place.
I'd put it behind RQ, brisbane, oxley, gayles, redcliffe, redland bay, wynnum, windaroo and a stack of other.
The greens are indeed pure and roll great but other than that...its average.

g69, any holes stand out as shockers, architecturally?

I had trouble figuring out 15, the short par 4.
They had bunkers at driving distance, but the reward for taking them on and clearing them would be to roll into a greenside bunker.
The best spot to approach from was the left anyway, so there is no need to go near the bunkers.

Jarro
19th June 2006, 03:51 PM

Jarro
19th June 2006, 04:13 PM
yes mate.

the green slopes markedly from back to front. They fly it to the front/middle and the pill stops dead. I've seen it happen quite a few times before. Last guy i saw do it hit his shot down the righthand side, over the trees, and landed on the green.

Hell, Nudgee himself nearly flew it on there using a demo Launcher driver

i usually play a 2-iron down the middle, then a gap wedge on ;)

Jarro

Greens are amongst the best conditioned in Brisbane, but are largely boring in complexity. Fairways were dead due to drought, so not much to say there. However, perhaps the super needs to tell the mower to mow the correct lines so the holes can be played how they appear to have been designed.

The 15th fairway traps are silly, they have bunkered the non-preferred side as AndyP pointed out and an internal OB on 16 is rediculous on a 380 acre(?) property. 1, 4 & 5 all have potential but 1 has stupid mowing lines, 4 has a silly greenside trap and 5 has the most rediculous fairway lines of all. 400m Par 4 and they mow a fairway about 30m wide and have 70m of rough on the non preferred side where most golfers would be hitting long irons or hybrids over a greenside trap, No need to make them do it out of the rough!, just bloody mow it!

Having said all that, I've never not enjoyed simply going out and playing golf at Nudgee and it's priced accordingly, has friendly members and the greens roll true. I'll always be back for another game.

Love the roll of the Nudgee greens. Of course, I would say that after yesterday, but they just seem so true.

yeah the greens are in great shape.

They are actually a little better on the South Course

Yeah, I'm a fan of the greens too. I seem to do better on them than at Caboolture.

I know I'm a bit late for this but just got back from Brisbane.

Thanks to Jarro for get the day well done mate.

Congrats to AndyP for his win on the day and beating me in our matchplay drove all that way to go down 2&1 well done mate your putts were droping from every where for you
I knew my number was up when you chipped in for a birdie on our 1st hole .
And to Keza and P-rs thanks for the day.

The cse well I like the layout ,the greens were great but the fairway were well green in some places and that is all that I'll say about that.

But over all had a great day and didn't mind the early start with rain.

I thought they were crap.

They were too smooth and when you started the ball off-line, it just stayed there (38 putts  )

Spent an hour on the putting green this afternoon. Part of my plan to improve my putting. I think they call it practice??

Mate, i have SEEN guys fly it onto the 15th green and stop it.
It can be done. I hear ya Jarro, i have seen plenty of blokes hitting drivers into par 4's and holding the green, and thats on flat tops, if that ski slope of a 15th green was made of concrete it would still hold a 1 iron downwind from the rough.

I have managed to stop a driver a few times, but not quite 300 metres, even got a couple to back up.

now that i have got your attention, putting the scores in results order would be nice.

Andyp, why didnt you win the overall net - they gave that to some boofhead with 67 nett and you had 66?

Dave, thanks again for making the big effort to drive down. I really do hope you enjoy the rounds down here, as sometimes you seem like you don't. I thought you played pretty well actually, you hit some really nice shots, but had a couple of blowouts (which didn't really cost you in the matchplay), and the flat stick keeps letting you down.

Thanks to my other playing partners for making it an enjoyable round. I noticed that Kez was a pretty handy player out of the bunker, and set herself up for a few sand saves (never mind how she got in there in the first place), and Peter_rs is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get on each hole.

Thanks for organising the day, jarro. Looks like the Nudgee Plate is firmly locked in the OZgolf fixture, with two division winners and two runner-ups in the last two years.

mate, if your putting is as bad as you say, i'd be getting some tips from your Dad. I was watching him hole them from everywhere on the putting green

Andyp, why didnt you win the overall net - they gave that to some boofhead with 67 nett and you had 66? Maybe they have four divisions, say 0-6 gross and net, then division I (7-14), division II (15-20) and division III (21-27) nett prizes?

Hi Jarro.

It takes me longer to do the updates if the scores are not written up in order. Therefore I get less excited to do them as quickly as you would like.

this sort of result is written in Braile (for someone who is reading 100 threads in one hour)

6:35 - Kee-100/78 / Golfer69-92/81 / perci-101/91 / Graham (percis bro-in-law)-102/82

6:42 - Ploppy-86/77 / Peter_rs-96/78 / Just-134/??? / Keza_G-84/80

7:03 - Macca-92/77 / PeteyD-105/78 / Chris Green- ????? /

can someone please sort these into order of net scores whilst i work on the other 100 golf days.
