I've got a set of X flex I'm about to pull
They don't feel overly stout or boardy to me. ....

Budget?

How much do these usually go for?

I've heard they feel softer to flex but X flex might be a bit too much for me, let me double check on that

Currently using C-Taper Lites S flex, looking for something with slightly less spin, less launch

I have sets with Modus 120s, Modus 105s and C Taper Lite S. C Taper is lower launch and spin for me than the 120s. If you want lower launch and spin of the three, I'd recommend Modus 105s.

Having said that, I have another spare set of Modus 120s 4-PW I'd consider letting go for $180pp. 1/2" over, absolutely mint.

Not what I was expecting, I would have thought the 120s would be slightly lower. Have you hit the Steelfibers i80s by any chance benno?

Yes I have, not a lot though because they were too light. I have had i95reg, and currently have a set with i110reg. Modus 105s is still the lowest of the lot.

How do you compare the i95s to the 120s. Not sure whether the 105s would be too low for me as I still need a bit of spin. Trackman would be handy to compare the lot...fyi with 6 iron ns pro 950gh S flex spin rates were around 6000 avg whereas the i80r was about 5500. Looking for something around that mark

I would say if you are getting 6000rpm with the worlds highest/spinniest shaft (NS Pro 950), you would be a low spin player already. Anything is going to drop your launch and spin compared to those. I had a cool clubs fitting, and he was happy to optimise me DOWN to 6000rpm using i95reg (lowest spinning of the bunch). From memory the 950GH were about 7000rpm +.

Out of all the the options to lower spin and launch compared to CTL stiff, I found it was Modus 105s. Not a lot in spin rates (based on how ny shots were holding greens), but visible lower launch.

i95reg is somewhat similar to Modus 120s. I just couldn't handle shafts that light with all my chopping and changing. Feel wise though Modus 120s are the best of everything I have.

Cheers,
Ben

Cheers benno, been helpful, what I might instead if see if I can get on a launch monitor to see what my c-taper lites are doing before switching to one of the Modus shafts.

Now how to close this thread in the meantime...

Don't forget, it's OZgolf. You're allowed to buy because it's shiny, or pretty. No need to worry about details of whether it actually performs better. :D

It is also perfectly acceptable here to buy stuff and the sell stuff without ever actually using/hitting said gear ... Which it seems I am getting more and more proficient at ! One could say it's borderline encouraged ;)

IN BREAKING NEWS...

I am three games in with modus3 105 in reg shaft. I've always hit a higher ball, these shafts are giving me a stronger flight with softer landing/ spin of the previously used KBS Tour.

VERY HAPPY

Gday Pete,

Steelfiber i95 regs are long gone to the house of Eca I think.

I could be keen to sell the 120s, if the 120x Anfield is pulling are the right length / set.

Cheers,
Ben

Too stiff? They play a bit stout.

No, not really.
Was telling another ozgolfer, they are as long, if not longer than the other 2 current sets.
Beautiful ball flight, very similar to PX Flighted (which ive used vey successfully in the past having been fit for them at the Callaway fitting centre years back).
Just couldn't work them, just RT Blocks all day, no fade, straight block.
I wasn't swinging to bad either....
Just the wrong profile/kickpoint for me.
I could persevere with them, but id be fighting my swing id say....

Possibly a touch too stiff. Soft stepping could well straighten that out but it might not too. Whether it's worth it to you personally to muck around with them is another matter.
