Looking for an experimental GI iron set.

Descent ball striker managing to play off a HCP of 6 with my current Adams CMB forged irons. However cant stop thinking how GI iron set might help me get a little lower.

So looking for something that is in the GI category but HAS to have minimal offset like the CMBs.

Dont care what the top line or back looks like or if there chunky, shovels etc. Stiff shafts relatively newish 2014+ models and in descent condition.

Let me know whats available!

Thanks

That reminds me, still have to shaft my 545's up. Definitely a solid iron along the lines you seek and immensely popular. Also the TT588 with upgraded shafts fits the bill nicely as well and can be had cheap at times. Sold a set 3weeks ago and the guy had his best ever comp gross first outing with them after just one small practise session. Reasonably compact, decent feel, low offset and plenty of forgiveness for their size.

For someone who plays golf 5 days a week, I expected better... ;)

While I've never owned a set, I've hit them on the course a couple of times and the Z545 irons are a great set if you want low offset and forgiveness. They look the part as well.

3rd, 4th and 5th that
Had five games with mine and they are amazingly forgiving without looking like shovels! Lost 3 shots off handicap

I'm after a similar set. Ping i20s, Taylormade Rsi 2, Callaway XR Pros are on my shortlist.

Cool z545 was on the shortlist so just need to find a 2nd hand set, don't want to pay for a new set only to return to my trust cmbs
Also just hit the ping Gs ? Ugly as hell but damn 10m-15m longer than my Adams and so forgiving...

Would have thought the G would be a distance from the all important minimal offset tho.

Oh yeh the offset was huge, I thought I was going to struggle with it. Only just demoed the 6i on the course and out of 30 balls I missed 6 greens. That's frickin amazing for me from that distance...
I thought since it was a practice session on the course I was just relaxed the swing was in so hit my cmbs and didn't do badly but nowher near as these ugly G irons.

Note only hit the 6iron around the course in a cart

Hasn't stopped people from selling previously on here. oZgolfers are a weird bunch, they would sell the holy grail of clubs to try something new that doesn't suit them just for the heck of it

Love the look of the srixons but never hit one, really you cant go wrong with j40 dpc's for about 1/3 of the price.

Minimal offset, thin top line in a midsized forgiving head, super feel.

The most GI iron with the least offset I've seen is the Callaway Steelhead XR. Same offset as Apex CF16s, and about the same as Adams CMB. There is also a new Pro version coming out with the same head size, but even less.

Not sure if you got a set but I've got a set of mint condition MP-15s for $800 + postage. 3-PW , 1/2", 1° Flat but Dynamic Gold Superlight S300 shafts. More details on Gumtree at http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/como/golf/mizuno-mp-15-irons-mint-condition-3-to-pw-stiff-shafts/1136168149

You've bumped 5 year old threads. I think we get it.
