Dudes,

Are low profile fairway woods really a lot easier to hit off the deck? I'm shithouse with a 3W off the deck - so much so that I got rid of my last one (915F) as I was just never using it. Thinking maybe to try something like an Adams Tight Lies or Ping G25/G30. It'd more be for hitting off the deck than the tee. Cheers, FJ.

Try a g20.

What BITS said, low profile, very easy to hit. Having said that, it is not really any easier than lots of other higher profile heads, for me anyway.

Easiest fairway metals I remember being able to hit were Orlimar Trimetals. The second model. They came in even numbered lofts. 14, 16, 18 etc. pretty old now but if you could find one it would be cheap and worth a try. Shallow face and really easy to hit off the deck.

I found the Exotics CB pro pretty easy to hit off the deck. It's a compact head but the sole design seems to really help. If anything it's easier than my 915F. The only reason it's on the bench and the 915F is still in my bag is that it went too far and messed up my gaps.

G25 is oh so easy off the deck.

Second Exotics FWs - had a XCG7 that was great off the deck

Thanks Gents. Might keep on eye out for a G25 3W or 4W...or G30 of the same.

Get a lesson with whatever you have, you're off 5, it'll be a technique/confidence thing.

I don't have a fairway wood at the moment, so just thinking about getting something that's said to be easy-ish to hit off the deck and practicing (probably with a lesson) until I can get it doing. Outdrove a guy off similar handicap on a par 5 the other day, then I lay up with a 4-iron and watch him take 3W and put it on the green. Was emasculating:).

Does anyone have any good vibes on G30 fairway woods? I've got $200 in my club account that I was going to put towards an SM6 lob wedge - yeah, they'll be more than $200, apparently - but thinking to put it to a G30 3W or 4W. Cheers.

Easy enough to hit but short & spinny

I'd be getting the G25 and saving money in your predicament. You can always upgrade to something down the track if you find your feet. There's only small advances in the 30 and a couple of them lead to the 25 being slightly easier to launch, a good thing if you're struggling with the 3. Nothing wrong with the 4 wood idea either. At 6 handicap tho you should be able to make a real weapon of the 3 wood on par 5's.

Thinking a 16.5* G25 in S or Tour S might be a goer. Should sit nicely between my driver and 20* T-MB 3-iron in terms of distance gaps. And the little extra loft will probably help off the deck.

Another vote for G25 woods. Absolutely the easiest wood to hit off the deck and that's saying a lot for a hacker like me.

Any love out there for the Callaway BBA 815 fairway? Had a look at one in Golf World earlier today and it's a cute little head...

Comparing your 915F to my old Burner Superfast 2.0 I would say the Burner is so much easier to hit off the deck. I have both in my bag and to be honest the 915 is only being used off the tee right now. On the odd occasion (off deck) I will pull it out but I do find the low profile much harder to hit.
Still use it though its great.
