Apparently not everyone knows about our new portal that has been installed, which serves as our front page.

Well, go check it out then.
http://www.ozgolf.net

It contains a snapshot of the calendar, recent posts, site statistics, reviews, and who's online.

And as time goes on, hopefully more too. And don't forget you have the option of a side bar on the left hand side of our forum page. Just go into quicklinks, and down the bottom you'll see the option. It provides some easy to access functionality as well as some of the stuff from the portal, including a link to new reviews.

"you would need to provide your own index.php if they don't have to use the home module, because the index.php included with vbportal, just sends them here."

Yeah but how do I get it to "remember" that I don't want it to appear each time I logon?

Its fine.

While you are at it, is it possible to create a text only version of OZG?

Just like you do a google search on golfwrx and it only shows the thread item in text only unless you click "show me in HTML" or something like that.

Yup, and it wasn't me, that is the temporary page we put up before the portal was installed.

The server host must have changed something because I had a similar thing happen on my blog and personal website. For some reason the domain stopped going to the index.php file and started going to the index.htm file. I just renamed the index.htm file and it is working again now.

Ahhh, now that you mention it, I think this has been happening for sometime now. Say a week or so. When I got the mac,the URL didn't autocoplete and it was sending me to this page. I thought I must have had the URL wrong and just kept going to the forum.

That is generally the default behaviour in a server's /etc/httpd.conf

Most of the time it is something like:

DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.php index.cgi index.pl Default.htm default.htm

And it will follow that order, from left to right, until it finds a file.

Just ask your webhost to put index.php at the front of the list. Problem solved.
