I can't believe no-one has started this yet.

Anyway I will be playing a monthly medal tomorrow so stay tuned for an update.

Had my final tune up for SA champs trip

Needless to say I am ready to win NAGA

Monthly Medal at the Links Shell Cove... finished the day with an 11 on our 18th for a 96/77. Great times. Looking forward to the Rad and all that Hindley St has to offer in terms of schnits and kitcheners.

Thanks buddy

Really it was built from going double, double in at the end of the front 9

Then went ok for the next few holes and then the last 4 holes went trip, double (from 80m out), double, +7.

Looking forward to this week of golf coming up :)

The 11 will count as a 7 and you will be handicapped 4 lower. Most likely a flag and a drop off anchor.

Well done.

The DSR would need to be 4 or 5 shots harder for it to even get to my anchor :)

Chopped it - 89/80. And there was some quality scrambling in that to avoid much worse. There was an 8 on a par 4 and a 9 on a par 5 in that too.

Lots of blokes scoring well this weekend - except BenM. :)

Stroke Monthly Medal for me, shot a middle of the road 91/75 in the wind. Nice to play a mediocre round - for the last couple of months I've either had 40-something or 20-something points most days. Won a NTP. Still can't chip.

Wanneroo has done well, they realised they had no juniors so are working with Joondalup coaches to allow juniors being coached at Joondalup to play at Wanneroo. Joondalup doesn't have a pee wee membership, so Wanneroo will pick up some good little golfers.

My little bloke was wrapped, played 9 in the morning, had his two junior clinic at Joondalup in the afternoon and was still practice putting in the lounge at home at 7pm!

Gee, no posts for 8 days. Maybe nobody played last weekend except us SA Champs attendees.

Well, I've got five rounds to report, all in the one post. I'll keep them short, mainly because there isn't much to boast about.

Friday 13th at Victor Harbour - 30 points. A mix of great and awful. 3 birdies, two of them after sticking irons close, and two triples, both through following a bad shot with another one. Bad putting late, which was an indicator of things to come.

Saturday 14th at Gawler - 25 points. Fortunate to get that. Played really badly for the last 13 holes. Kept following a bad shot with another one. I had 3 unsuccessful chip outs into worse positions.

Sunday 15th at Royal Adelaide - 31 points. Hit the ball really well, but putted woefully.

Monday 16th (morning) at Kooyonga - 28 points. Played better than the score, but couldn't get the ball into the hole. Left myself some very hard up and downs, most of which I failed to convert.

Monday 16th (afternoon) at Glenelg - 32 points. Excellent long game, but poor short irons. Parred the hard holes and bogeyed the easy ones, usually after putting a short iron into the short right bunker.

After playing three really good courses in a row, a return to Ballina is a bit of a let down. As the forecast is for very warm weather, I might give Friday a miss and wait until next week for my next game.

I was a bit confuse where we were supposed to waffle about the good or bad rounds this month.

A change in thread title to one of the two threads may help steer people in the right direction for all the Nov rounds.

6 1/2 rounds in 5 days from Thurs-Mon.

Day 1
29pts for the first 18 at Tanunda.
Drove it ok than chopped irons, chipped and putted poorly. Only highlight was hitting the par 5 15th for 2 to 12 foot only to hand bag (http://viglink.pgpartner.com/rd.php?r=30862&m=1895167482&q=n&rdgt=1447774078&it=1448206078&et=1448378878&priceret=99.99&pg=~~3&k=436f8bd085f241354185f1b31f582141&source=feed&url=http%3A%2F%2Frd%2Ebizrate%2Ecom%2Frd%3Ft%3Dhtt p%253A%252F%252Fwww%2Eamazon%2Ecom%252Fdp%252FB00D JQ71R2%252Fref%253Dasc%5Fdf%5FB00DJQ71R23988285%25 2F%253Ftag%253Dshopzilla0d%2D20%2526ascsubtag%253D shopzilla%5Frev%5F3%2D20%253BSZ%5FREDIRECT%5FID%25 26creative%253D395021%2526creativeASIN%253DB00DJQ7 1R2%2526linkCode%253Ddf0%26mid%3D184056%26cat%5Fid %3D10010600%26atom%3D10270%26prod%5Fid%3D%26oid%3D 5377881979%26pos%3D1%26b%5Fid%3D18%26bid%5Ftype%3D 4%26bamt%3D17f646d3edc5f025%26cobrand%3D106%26ppr% 3D846c5feb4bba8a0b%26rf%3Dafp%26af%5Fassettype%5Fi d%3D12%26af%5Fcreative%5Fid%3D2932%26af%5Fid%3D613 705%26af%5Fplacement%5Fid%3D1&st=feed&mt=~~~~~~~~n~~~) the putt.
Last 9 in the twilight comp saw much the same for 14pts.

Day 2
30pts at Victor Harbour.
Hit it ok but failed to capitalise when the door was open. Could not buy a putt all day.

Day 3
29pts at Sandy Creek Gawler.
3/4 of the round was ok but the other 1/4 hurt the score badly. Again I couldn't buy a putt all day. Had a chance to have a good score, only needed to play the last 4 holes even par as I had shots on 3 of them. Instead I went par, wipe (carved two over a fence), wipe, 2 point bogey.

Day 4
31pts at Royal Adelaide (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00W4Q9XYC).
A frustrating day full stop. My game needed blue pills as I could not get anything up to the hole with any shot or the putter.

Day 5
28pts at Kooyonga.
Too many dumb wiped holes from really poor shots spoilt the good stuff.

18pts at Glenelg
Got very frustrated hitting crappy cuts off the tee and complexly miss timing irons. Was cooked mentally after 9 holes and completely beaten after going through the green with the only decent struck drive and 2nd on 15. Wiped the last 3 after only hitting tee shots into kak.

6.5 rounds for me too:

Day 1 - Tananananananunda - 36pts
Started off with terrible driving - snap hooks or power fades. Don't think I hit a fairway until the 6th hole. From there had a good run of pars until the 11th which dragged my score in. Like most of my golf - rocks or diamonds.
5/14 fairways
7 GIR
34 putts
10 par or better, 5 double or worse

Tananananananunda 9 hole - 14pts. Much of the same.

Day 2 - Victor Harbour GC - 34pts
Started off again with terrible driving - a big pull hook off the 1st. Played a bit more steady here, no great par runs, but fewer blowouts.
6/14 fairways
3 GIR
30 putts
5 par or better, 2 double or worse

Day 3 - Sandy Creek GC - 35pts
In a recurring theme, stunk it up with driver. More rocks and diamonds though. Was going along quite well until the 15th, which I wiped after getting tree trouble on a pull hooked drive. Played the last 4 holes in 4pts to take the shine off an other wise good round.
4/14 fairways
7 GIR
34putts
8par or better, 4double or worse

Day 4 - Royal Radelaide GC - 33pts
Driver ended up going OK here, only really hurting me with a couple of crappy pulls into trees on 4, 9 and 17. Highlight was a chip in bird on the 3rd after a crappy approach from the top of the hill. Was hitting irons pretty well here, grabbing some good GIR, but couldn't get the ball in the hole to capitalise on any of them.
10/15 fairways
6 GIR
34putts
8par or better, 6double or worse

Day 5a - Kooyonga GC - 31pts
Started off like a total busted arse! Played 10-18 + the temp 19th in 11pts. Could drive, couldn't chip, couldn't putt. Woeful.

Felt a bit better after parring the first and birdying the 2nd. Played some really good gold for the remaining holes to play the front 9 (minus the 4th) in +1 (20pts)

3/14 fairways
5 GIR
34putts
6par or better, 8double or worse

Day 5b - Glenelg GC - 36pts
Got excited on the drive in, something about the course just got the juices flowing for me. Didnt play wow, a bit more rocks and diamonds.

Managed to jag 3 birds, but also played the baby par 3 like a total tard.

7/14 fairways
6 GIR
30putts
7par or better, 6double or worse

Overall outcome - when my driver works, I score good. When it doesn't - I suck. I can take away my iron play was definitely improved after 2-3 months of utter toilet. Need to work on my consistency now to minimise the doubles or worse.

Same.

Victor Harbour - 27 or 28. Didn't matter, all I had to do was win the match play.
Sandy Creek - 32 points.
Royal Adelaide - 39 points.

It's an easier game when you have a clear second shot.

Walking off St Micks yesterday, thought for sure I'd not only get NAGA for the day but NAGA for the month. With 8 lost balls and 22points, I thought I'd be a shoe in. It appears I'm now where near it. Just a nothing round then.

You're playing in the big league now. :)

I played Queenscliff in a strong wind today and had 31 points - 19/12. Hit it OK at times, poorly at others. The 19 at the turn was somewhat inflated by going 4-3-3 for the last three holes, and the 4 was a fluke. On the 7th, a short par 4, I hit a long drive to almost pin high with the wind, leaving a delicate shot over a bunker. I bladed it into the face of the bunker and watched it bounce up and out, then roll to 3 feet. Made the putt for 3. :)

On the plus side I had my name on 2 NTPs - on the 135m 9th I was a few metres away and will probably get knocked off, although hitting with the wind will cause some problems. On the 14th I'm miles away but I might win - 175m into a howling gale is a pretty tough shot. I had to absolutely smash a 3 hybrid to get it to the front of the green. That's two weeks in a row I've managed to hit a straight hybrid into a stiff breeze on that hole, so at least I've got one trick up my sleeve.

My chipping woes are slowly resolving themselves - I managed decent contact a few times, even hit the flag once from 30m or so. Distance was all over the place though, but when you haven't middled one for a while it's hard to know what to expect when you get it right.

Medal of medals today with a 2 club breeze kicking up around the 12th... Very weird day where everytime I had a wedge in the 90 to 120 range I was sticking them inside 6-8ft but anything between the 5-8 irons and I couldn't hit it for the life of me.

Ended up shooting 6 over (off 5) with a soft bogey on the last and had 5 pars, 5 birdies, 3 doubles and 5 bogeys for one of the weirdest rounds in a long time. Just shows how playing once every 3-4 weeks really screws your game around.

I have been shooting mid to high 70's on Tuesday's but can't break 80 of a Saturday for some reason. Well played Jabber. Clearly the Maxxis should be going into all our golf bags.

After my week in SA golfing paradise it was back to the mundane grind of a Friday comp at Ballina, on greens still quite slow almost four weeks after being renovated.

My golf standard was exactly the same though. A mixture of great and awful for 34 points. Three birdies, but matched by three wipes, all of them inexcusable.

I'll be sticking with my Powerbilt putter though. I found the secret to not missing the 4 footers was to not leave myself any. I holed five putts of 10 feet or longer, and left everything else within tap in range. Really, when I putt that well I need to get better scores. Maybe next time.

In what was a complete opposite to my game last week I posted my best round at Richmond by finally shooting even par 70 (off 5) for 41 points. Went out in 2 over with 2 very soft bogeys and then had 2 under on the back.

All up it was 14 pars, 2 birdies and 2 bogeys but wasn't my best ball striking round as I was out of position a number of times and managed to get up and down nearly every time. Missed birdie putts on 13, 17 and 18 with the last two allowing me to break par for the first time. Really happy with how I played down the stretch and it gives me more confidence to finish off a round.

Felt like i should have been a few better though. Had 3 putts lip out and doubled a par 5 that i was just off the green pin high for 2. Still was probably my best round since I've started playing again. Seemed to hit everything in the bag consistent where normally something plays up. Absolutely bombed some drives (for me), slight tailwind down the last measured out at 286m which is probably a good 20 past my previous best

tsk tsk.

Chopped it at Woolgoolga last week but felt strangely confident today and hit the ball pretty well. Started off 10, went par, double, bogey, par, birdie, birdie, lipped out 6 footer for birdie, missed 6 footer for birdie, bogey for +2 and 21pts.

Back 9 (front) wasn't quite as good but scrambled well, no wipes, til I 4 putted the last green from about 15 feet for a double and turned a 79 into an 81.

Thanks mate, Yeah there are some tight holes but if you spray it enough you can make the next fairway over and still be in play sometimes.

Well done on the 41 pts yourself!

Nothing the report myself this week (first swing in anger in two weeks and I was shite). But, we had our NH Grades Finals today and my mate HP2 (who a few SA Ozgolfers may remember from the Lady Bay Scramble, won the B Grade Title. Very pleased for him. The guy who bet me in the quarter final, ended up winning the A Grade, lessening the sting a little for moi in the process and we had a 10 year old (no typo), win our C Grade Title. Watch out for this kid.

37 points for me today - was looking the goods until I wiped 17. Didn't win anything, but I was happy to play a nice consistent round for a change. I hit the ball well enough to put off thoughts of changing my irons for a bit longer.

35pts in a weird round this morning. Felt bloody terrible but didn't score so bad.

32 points, 11 on the front 21 on the back. Hit a few thin wedge shots at the wrong time that went out of bounds on the front. But had 1 under par on the back.

Point taken. It was weirder than usual, if that's possible. ;)

5 rounds played in November, stroke round at home ... raised the bat, shouldn't have got out of bed. Matchplay vs Peppas at Victor Harbour (SA Champs) Went down 3&2 after bring 6 down after 6! Got as close as 1 down , but Nadg turned up and my good shots all disappeared!
SA champs round 1 at Sandy Creek 35 points , 1 wipe... a few good up and downs to save some points.
SA champs round 2 at Royal Adelaide 28 points , 2 consecutive wipes, hurt my forearm in the fescue ... never got back into the round 16/12 spit.
Took the next weekend off, gardening and family time.
Played today at home (The Vines) 37 points, 16/21 .. left a few out there as well 1x 3putt and a few lip outs!

Enjoyable month. Royal Adelaide again next Sunday

50pts off 11. Solid golf.

That's exactly what it was. Fairways, greens, putts.

29 points today. Still all over the place with some good some bad (going wipe, birdie, wipe is just one example).

I used Peppas' errr I mean benno_r's i20s with Super Peening Orange and they felt like hockey sticks - so stiff (no homo)! They feel very different from those S56s Pepps - I could game those, but not these. And either both those sets are shorter than standard, or my Cleveland CG16s are long.

My 2 biggest issues are still getting off the tee with any confidence of it doing what I expect, and then the short game. I've got another week off next week, before M3J's visit and ambrose the week after, so hitting anchor before year end is probably not possible, but it is still only 4 non-flagged rounds away...
