Hello existing members and welcome new members

The OZgolf.net forums are provided for you to discuss golf and various other topics, but only if you follow the rules that we have detailed below. Failure to obey the rules of the forum may see your privilege to post here revoked.

We have attempted to cover the key things that we feel keep the forum enjoyable for all, but it is impossible to cover everything. Just because something is not covered in the rules, it does not mean that you won't be reprimanded for it. Think before you post and if you think it may not be acceptable, don't post it. Any action taken is at the moderation team's discretion and with the well-being of the whole forum in mind.

We also expect you to help us moderate the forum. We are all volunteers with lives outside of the forum (believe it or not) and we don’t read every post, so please don't turn a blind eye to violation of the rules.

The following rules apply.

1. Spam
Spam is not allowed on this forum. This includes any form of advertising whether it be for a product, group or service. Websites etc, are permitted in signatures. This excludes the selling of your own golf gear in the Pro Shop Forum.

2. Z.I.T. (Zero Idiot Tolerance)
Repeated trolling, provocation, flaunting of the rules, arguing with mods or just generally being a serial pest.

3. Abuse
The OZgolf forum is a place for chatting about golf and a place to share information and opinions on all things golf (and miscellaneous). Flaming or messages posted that are deliberately hostile or insulting (including any form of discrimination) may be removed from the forum at the moderators discretion. The harmony of the forum is of the primary concern and any members seen to be constantly disrupting the forum or trolling, may be disciplined.

4. Privacy
Posting material that violates the privacy of staff, other members, or any third party.

5. Private Messages
It is not permitted to send private emails or PM’s of another to the public forum. Private emails or PM’s intentionally forwarded to the public forum which are by an author other than yourself, may be cause for immediate removal from the forum. It will be up to the moderator/s discretion as to whether the list member will be allowed to remain.

6. NSFW (Not Safe For Work)
Posting vulgar language, inappropriate images or videos, or links to sites containing any of these. This rule also applies to avatars, signatures and blog posts.

7. Illegal material
Please don't post links to sites that may involve illegal activity (this includes, but is not limited to, BitTorrent and Warez sites) . If you choose to talk about it, so be it, just don't link the sites.

8. Moderator disrespect
Pestering and harassing moderators, deliberately and/ or continually ignoring warnings, unnecessary reporting of posts, publicly questioning moderator decisions, etc. While pushing the buttons of moderators and constantly questioning moderation decisions may be funny to some, it is extremely disrespectful to the moderators who give their time freely to manage the forum.

9. Conspiracy with intent
Threatening or organising to disrupt, invade or vandalise other internet forums or websites.

10. Solicitation
Posting affiliate or sponsor links to other sites for personal or financial gain. Non-profit/ fund-raising sites and links to legitimate businesses may be included (within reason) in signatures.

11. Off-topic discussion
Off topic posts in general are fine, but don't lose sight of the main objective or discussion point of the thread.
Note: not all members enjoy pages of pointless posts. If someone starts a new thread and asks for it to be kept on topic, respect their wish. OT posts that are reported in such threads will be removed.

12. Language
OZgolf is a PG-rated community. Some swearing is tolerated, but not encouraged. The swear filter is there for a reason, so please don't use workarounds to write your profanity if it has been blocked. Excessive profanity or workarounds will result in posts being removed.

13. External sources
Articles sourced from other sources should usually be linked to rather than copied and pasted to prevent copyright issues. Sticking the first sentence or two in to give the flavour of the piece is okay, posting the whole article is (as a rule) not.

14. Signatures
Please keep your signatures tidy and a small size for readability of the forum. If you are going to put a lot of text in your sig, use a smaller font size. Large images in your signature will be removed also. If you want an image in your sig, keep it as small as possible, especially height. Anything bigger than 100pixels high, is too much and will most likely be removed. Userbars and similar images are acceptable in small numbers.

15. Unapproved Alias
Creating an alias account is not permitted unless approved by the OZgolf moderation team. OZgolf recognises that an alias may add to the fun of certain OZgolf events or the forum as a whole. However, if an alias account is created and incurs a warning, this will be incurred against the original user's account, in addition to the unapproved alias, if applicable.

Issues, Questions or Complaints
Complaints should go to the forum moderators, not the forum. Any complaints about members on the forum, or about any issues in regards to the forum, should go to the forum moderators first and foremost. The moderators can and will at their discretion take appropriate action to resolve the situation. If you feel a post breaches the OZgolf guidelines you can report them to the moderator by using the reporting button, otherwise contact them via Private Message.

A final note...
The harmony and safe environment on this forum is paramount. If the moderators feels any member threatens this, they may decide to remove that member. In all cases careful consideration will be made before any member is removed from the forum. The moderators will do their best to ensure that any issues are resolved in the fairest manner with the general well being of the majority of list members in mind.

The OZgolf forums are fantastic way to learn more about golf and meet some golfing friends. A lot of close friendships have been formed through this forum and we do hope that you get as much out of it as others have.
