Its time again so I am asking for expressions of interest in the Canberra Christmas Classic, tentatively scheduled to be held at Gungahlin Lakes GC on Sunday the 20th of December. We have moved pre-Christmas this year as I am probably away the week after.

Last year a few of the boys (BennoR, Peppas, 3Jab and maybe another from memory) tied it in with a Saturday round at Federal at the Twilight rate, and a Monday hit at Yowani. I would be keen on a Federal round if anyone wants to make a weekend of it.

The ACT Christmas Classic has been run and won. In a field decimated by withdrawals, 8 interpid golfers braved the 36 degrees and 40k an hour winds.
The course was very dry after a watering malfunction but the greens were still very good and true.

The winner was no real surprise - The Trophy Hunter GK went 14-21 for 35 points to beat Little Dougo on a countback. Dotty and Benno had 34 each.

NTP on 3 went to Peppas and GK put it to 15 foot on 17 into a 2 club breeze!

Thanks to GK Dotty Peppas Kiwitown for travelling. Look forward to seeing most of the boys in 6 weeks in Melbourne!

Benno, thanks for organising and also for the guided tour around Federal on Saturday arvo. Hopefully Canberra gets some decent rain soon as it was noticeably dry at both Federal and GL. Thanks to the others who were able to make it. Was a shame so many had to pull out. Fingers crossed next year it won't be a forecast 37 degrees and few more can make the trip.

Peppas, thanks for throwing the anchor after 9 to allow me to come through with the win. I'm still not convinced on the driver shaft so I might just hold onto the BB for a bit longer.

Kiwitown, hope you quickly get over the case of the lefts that you seemed to be suffering.

Kev, I won't tell anyone about the couple of wedge shanks that you had.

I opted not to take the Xmas tree back to Perth as I though Benno's kids will get more joy than me out of seeing it on the shelf at home for another year. I do have photographic evidence though so I might put a framed print on the wall next to the VIC Champs trophy.

To be fair, the shot that hit Peppas was quality. His ball was sitting right next to the stump under a small tree. There was no chance of playing it right handed so it was played backhanded with the back of an iron while he had his back towards Peppas. So I think he did well to hit his target.

Congrats to GK (the driving machine) for a good win, thanks to all who traveled. While it wasnt the best of days to be on the course, it was a great day because of the good company.
