Gents,

I need to pick up my game in the style department a little and buy an actual golf belt. But is buying a second-hand belt like buying second-hand undies? If not, then please let me know if you've got a belt to flog (in good nick, and nothing too loud and proud and Rickie). If yes, then let me know what size Heidi Whities you can throw in to sweeten the deal:). Thanks, FJ.

Oh, I wear size 38 pants. I've ambitions to get that down to 36, but it'll more likely blow out to 40:(.

Have you looked at Ray's site? They have Sligo belts at good prices, plus 30% off at the moment as well;

With Rays belts, go one size up. If you are 38, order a 40

I thought this was a carry on thread from the 'pocket bulge' thread.

Second hand belts are a NO.

Mizuno & Nike has some cheap decent belts. Rays Sligo belts are a good buy too, especially for the price.

I have one of Ray's Sligo belts in 38 and found it fairly true to size. Not much different to my other golf belts anyway from memory. They all work to hold my pants up! But I'll try and do a comparison when I think of it.

As for brands my current favourite is a Puma one I got from the factory outlet at Vic Champs. Problem with a lot of belts is they have large buckles which can dig into your paunch. The Puma one is fairly slim.

They fit small for me.

Maybe you're not being honest with yourself? :)

Somewhat snarky question - what makes a belt a golf belt? Is it just the brand name? Is it the width and colour, or a distinctive buckle?

If you just want a colourful leather belt, here's one I found on eBay, and I'm sure there are heaps of others: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bonded-Leather-Belt-Multiple-Color-Golf-Baseball-Softball-New-Mens-Womens-/321641529050

These look interesting: http://distinctivegolf.com.au/products/silicone-golf-belts

Or if you want the golfy brand name, Ray's sligo belts seem like awesome value.

What the **** is going on here!?

How has this thread reached 12 posts without someone mentioning the most important thing about a golf belt!?

FuzzyJuzzy. Buy a belt to match your golf shoes. That's all that matters, but if you can, yes, avoid 2nd hand belts. Shop around, there's no need to spend $60 on a bit of strap to hold your pants up.

Why not just match your weight to your pants?

These aren't specifically Golf Belts, but I have bought plenty from this UK Seller and they are great value. Also usually has lots of choice for colour, width and length;
