Just a quick introduction to everyone,

I'm Chris, I have recentley started to get back into golf after a few years of having the odd hit at the range etc. Cars used to be my hobby, but they are to expensive and I have grown out of that stage of my life (25)

Recently moved into a place thats about 2 mins walk from the local driving range so I have been getting a bit of practice

Been playing almost every weekend since December, and Im slowly getting better! Last four scores where 83,80,81,90, the 90 being the first round with my new clubs so there was a bit of trial and error!

In the process of joining a club, just waiting on all the paper work to go through

Just got hold of some new irons, Titleist 690.CB's 2-9, and I have a 690.MB PW, and Vokey Raw 52* and 58* wedges. I use a Cobra SS 370 7.5* driver and a Odyessy Rossie 2 putter.

Bought a hybrid of Jarro, J33 15*, so that will complete my set

So hi to everyone here, look forward to being a part of this forum

Chris

Hi Chris.

Good to see a member from Adelaide. Hopefully we can expand into SA a bit more so you can play with some other OZgolfers.

I have only played a few of the public courses, and some private

Probably the best I have played in SA is The Grange East/West course

The East course is one of the more highly rated in the state

Buying new clubs before getting on the site is going to severely affect your reputation on a site that prides iself on changing (read: hoing) on a regular basis.

Welcome anyway. Hope you get a lot out of the site in between the meaningless drivel

Not yet mate, hoping tomorrow, so I can give it a crack on the weekend!

Just spoke to my prospective club pro, seeing him about fitting my irons and also a few lessons maybe. Looks like membership is all go, so I should have a proper handicap soon!

Hi Chris,

When I was in SA last year I played a course on top of a mountain overlooking the city... apparently it is a private course.. name escapes me... real nice... a little cool for my liking but nice....

Have a great time here and welcome..

Cheers

Sounds like maybe Belair or maybe Flagstaff Hill? I have played at Flagstaff but I can't remember if it had a view of the city?

I haven't played at Belair yet, thats on my list

well done Chris. I started out on 17 as well. Come to think of it, so did Greg Norman. Could be a good omen for you...

Welcome Chris!

Congrates in getting the same handicap as Gregie when he started his golf! :) That's a great start for ya!

I think we've been down the Greg starting off 17 path before at some stage. BTW I started the same.

Chris, get used to cursing the index 18 hole at your course.

Nah, I like the 18th hardest hole, its a uphill par 3, about 130m.

The next hole is a 204m par 3, its a bastard! Always into the wind, and bunkers on both sides!

AndyP

You do this via the User CP -> Edit Signature

Well bit of a update

Things are coming along pretty well.

Getting to play most Saturdays, practice has been a bit limited due to time but I try and get a few swings in a couple of nights a week.

Handicap down currently to 12.7. Started at 17.2 then went out to 18 for a while and things are starting to click a bit now

Had my first eagle on saturday, hit a nice drive which left me a touch over 77m to the green. I hit my 58* wedge straight at the pin which was hidden from view by a bunker. Got up there and it was in the hole!

Had my second eagle two holes later, Par 5. After hooking my drive left into trees, I hit a punched 3 iron out onto the opposite fairway. I was left with what I thought was about 135m, and hit a pure 9 iron and it went straight in, on the full!! I saw and heard that one, which was nice!

Had a best of 25 points for the front nine, but fell away late in my round to finish with 39 points

My bag is pretty well finalised, as per WITB thread,

Cheers all,

Chris

Yeah you're not wrong. That's sweet.

I could be well off, but surely there there wouldn't be to many people in the world that would have done that. ????

Chris32
20th March 2007, 04:53 PM
Yeah, I was pretty happy. The guys I play with could not believe it, but the second one was a ripper, as I had to wait for the fairway I was playing up to clear, so they where all on the green edge

Kept the ball too, it deserved to be retired :)

Obviously dc68 has got 3 eagles within 3 holes before. Or was it 2 eagles and an albatross. Whatever it was, he's a bloody legend. Just ask him.

Moe, are you going to pull out the Oxley round story again?

Moe Norman
20th March 2007, 06:52 PM
no,

I don't think it needs to be told again.

3 consecutive eagles isn't THAT rare - is it? ;)

poidda
20th March 2007, 06:59 PM
I was actually thinking about knocking it in from 77 meters, and then from 135 meters 2 holes later?!?! Did you better that Moe?

Well played Chris, welcome to eagles club, I still remember to this day the feeling of watching a shot go in the cup from 150 out for a 3/6 is Stableford.

Moe Norman

Poidda,

No, I didn't better it.

The first 2 of my 3 consecutive eagles were holed out with the putter.
