Peoples

I'm looking for a hit in the Brisbane area this weekend. I would prefer to play in a comp, and a morning round would be best. I have already discussed this with a few of the guys who I know are already busy, but wanted to see if anyone else wanted a very much out-of-form OzGolfer in their group.

If I don't get any offers, I will organise a round in an open comp somewhere myself. So if someone else has not already committed to playing this weekend and wants to put their interest here, I will probably organise one tomorrow.

Andy....don't take this the wrong way but why dont you round up 40 clams and go see a pro (golfer) ?
What are you saying?

I am still hoping for something to click, which starts a turnaround. But I may look into coaching later this year.

Plus, I'll pick a course with plenty of run, so my dribble shots go further.

hang in there Andy. A good round will come again soon....

I hadn't shot my handicap in competition since August 2003 up until this past weekend, so you're not alone....

Not playing to your handicap, and not playing to 10 over your handicap are two entirely different things.

I'm prepared to suffer through my club champs in a couple of weeks time, if it comes to that.

Scott - If you get stuck, I got a set of Tommy Armour 855s cavities (with S300 shafts) there you can use. They're a bit neglected, but still hit the ball pretty good. I also got an old Ping Pal putter too... I'll be around on Saturday if you need to collect.

If you prefer masochism, I also have a set of PGF Aristocrat SB blades you can try!!

Do it Macca, test yourself :P

Those old Aristocrat blades are great for belting cane toads. Not sure I'd try and use them on a golf course anymore... You can imagine how good the 855s felt when I finally upgraded!!

Upgrade?? Don't the Aristocrats hit the toads as far as the 855s?

BrisVegas

I used to have matching persimmon woods for those Aristocrats. Damn, I wish I had them now... They'd look great in the pool room. If I could find a cheap set of shafts, I fix the blades up and mount them on a rack. I'd love a mint set of "retro" blades/woods for special occasions. Don't think I'd like to go waaay back to hickory shafted stuff, just a nice set of mint '80s tour stuff... mmmm :)

nah, the blades are the gear for toads. 855s have too much offset and are not heavy enough. Sometimes the hosel catches the toads ahead of the clubface, causing them to come off the face a bit low, right and squirrely....

Last time I used those Tommy Armours would have been 1998 when I was a member at Nudgee, so they should have felt at home there. :) I used to use 2 iron a lot around Nudgee North. The long iron 855s are so easy to hit. I'm actually thinking about replacing 3,4,5 in my current setup with those oldies (after a regrip of course!!)....
