Gents,

What are some wise suggestions for Stiff iron shafts that would be a bit lighter than S300s and Px 6.0 Rifles? I've hit KBS Tour V shafts at PPGL and they felt pretty good. What else? NS Pro somethings? Not sure if I'll need to change, but I know the R300 Superlites feel pretty good in my MBs, and I may end up swapping out the Px 6.0 Rifles in my AP2s for something lighter. Cheers, FJ.

Get on golfwrx, there is an invaluable chart done with flexes done by a clubmaker, very good info.

Nippon Modus 120s (and don't be worried they play soft - the feel like reg, but play like stiff).

GolfWRX - what's that?? Just kidding:). I'll sus it out - although Benno just smashed my question with his reply too. FWIW, the way they layout their forums on GolfWRX is a mess compared to the OzGolf forums...

Thanks mate. Wasn't there Modus 120s for sale on here recently? I'll see how I travel with the 6.0 Rifles - haven't used these irons for months as they were cycled through the hands of other OzGolfers - then see what's what.

FWIW, the way they layout their forums on GolfWRX is a mess compared to the OzGolf forums...well I guess a serious fitting would do the job, found NS Pro to be very good but use and rate recoil and steelfibre so I'm of no use

What's the ball flight like with the modus compared to the kbs tours?

What's the ball flight like with the modus compared to the kbs tours?

Lower, with less spin. Much better feel through the hands as well.

Depending of your reaction to Modus softer feel, could even go an X or X softstepped.

PX 95, I love the feel of that shaft.

what Benno said - they feel much nicer and my flight definitely lowered slightly compared to the KBS.

Look for FST Pro 115 shafts (Same company/person that makes KBS)

I have tried just about every iron shaft over the last few months and my pick is DG Pro. Similar feel to DG's but a little lighter. High launch in long irons and piercing flight on low irons... You are welcome to have a hit of mine

Modus 120 x's for me, best steel shaft I've used or matrix programs if you feel like lashing out on some graphites.

I like the Modus 120 and 130 - they are similar weight to your current shafts, however I think they feel lighter when you swing them.

KBS Tour V is another option.

I just got a set of irons that came with Tour V's installed. They're a bit too low-launch/ low-spin for me so will be looking to trade for a set of KBS Tour or something similar.

This chart is a good guide - measure the butt stiffness of a club.

PX5.5 and kbs tour stiff have the same butt flex. Both are vastly different in the tip, and will have different overall stiffness because of this.

Nippon modus120, which are very butt soft, come out around 4.5 (I think) which makes them softer than an R300. The extremely stiff tip though, is what gives it a stiff overall rating.

Excellent guide non-the-less.

Depending of your reaction to Modus softer feel, could even go an X or X softstepped.picked up my J40's with Modus 120X softstepped from Chappy yesterday and........wow, very soft, great feedback, good flight and a tad longer (prob cause of flight) than my recoils and Nippon 1050x. Had a flusher next to me on the range using sweet Honma blades with tour X100's have a hit with mine and the flight really wasn't much different and I do believe he got more distance with the modus. He has always used X100 but he said he really liked the feel of the modus. I'm a very Happy camper and Chappy, another awesome build, thanks

So S300 are ~130g, and PX 6.0 ~120g, right?

DG SL or PXi, worth a look.

Yes

I play the sl atm only due to thats what the mizuno thing said and really i like them, I had all sorts of trouble with the px6 felt super stiff, I did like the flighted version though. Pxi's play soft to flex prolly similar to the sl.

Sl's can be had for a great price.

Bloody hell they make lite shafts, don't think i could go that lite (yet) the pro looked good on there chart till i saw they are only .370. Tour X for me one day, would expect them to play like a classier x100SL that im using now.

Any 1' over Modus kicking around this place? Thinking of SS 120X to play at 38.5 minimum or plenty in Tokyo ATM. Or up for other experiments just need the length

Mitch I don't think you'd need to SS these in X. They are as smooth as a pensioners turd.

You'd handle the straight X easily.

What's a decent price on a set of NS Pro Modus 3 4-PW? Not sure if they're 120 or 130. Cheers, FJ.
