Every wondered if its worth the effort, to swing off ya feet?

Total Carry (yards) is calculated as ClubheadSpeed x 3.16 - 85.2
Or in simple term, increase your clubhead speed by 1mph, and gain 3.16 yards, which is 2.9yards

I have created a chart converted to metres

The rollout distance assumes firmer fairways that we may be used to, but statistical data confirms rollout is constant regardless of clubhead speed. (actual: 3yds variation between 75-120mph

Is that what guys mean when they hold up a sign showing 3:16 next to the tee on a PGA Tour event?

An increase in club head speed can lose distance also. Angle of attack, smash factor, release pattern through impact also have an influence on distance. The experts have had to revise and disgard previous scientific data on what occurs at impact and the results, since the new high speed cameras with 1000+ frames per second have come on the scene. Even the new ball flight laws are being questioned with flexible clubface technology. Experts who rely on trackman data are only looking at the static position of the clubface at the point of release.

Just ask shazz about my driving at the Leon day. Smash smash smash, useless. Ease of and boom. First decent drive was the one I laid off on, and she commented how much smoother my swing looked. Yet I still can't get it into my head. As I said to her, even Cory Pavin won a major! Swinging faster is pointless if everything else doesn't line up. At least for me.

Ray, you are right, this chart assumes no change in any other factor apart from the clubhead speed. In other words, jumping out of your socks to generate more clubhead speed is the worst thing to do. You got to improve your speed by eating ya weetbix and the like.

Goughy is living proof of that.

In my experience, swinging "slower" doesn't reduce clubhead speed, and trying to belt one can.

I remember an old video of Jack N's, I think I may have borrowed from Jaster. I'm sure he said when he really wanted to go after a drive, he slightly widened his stance, let the shady it another inch, and concentrated on an easy smooth swing.

Yep, I spent most of the day slapping the driver into the right hand rough. Forgot to get the hips going. It was a hell of a fun day though, with good company.
