:mrgreen:Well the first round of the Victorian Matchplay was played today at Southern and the result was ------------drumroll please--------a DRAW!!!! Even though Flowergirl was up three at one stage she couldn't shake Chappy off who valiantly scrambled back to square it all up leading into the 18th. Par 4 with no shots given. Both players drove well - although Chappy found himself in some long grass. Flowergirls second shot- A bit of a low runner - found her at the front of the green while Chappy got a flier out of the grass over the back of the green. Flowergirl skulls her chip ( again) to the back of the green and Chappy overhits his to the front of the green. Talk about a comedy of errors ( but neither of us where laughing). Flowergirls sinks a great putt and hopes ( in a nice way) that CHappy would continue with the putting woes that had dogged him all day - but no - he sinks it to draw the game.
We both agreed that we had souch a good time that we would do it again at a later date.
Thanks Bruce for your company today - it was lovely to have a game with you again - you bandit!!!!!!!!!!!!
And it was nice to meet you Chappy. Thanks for the invite to play at Southern. I really enjoyed the course. Beautiful fairways - and superfast greens !!!

Well done, guys.
Where is the next one being played? 13th Beach with the other lads?

Give 'em a break Andy - it's only been about 12 hours. Hard to organise anything in that time.

As long as we have a result by 30 June.

I'll add to the story of the round.

FG was up by 3 shots at 2 points in the match. Chappy got out of the blocks before Reenie could get a feel for things and won the first hole, but then his putter went stone cold and he was fighting his flat stick for the rest of the day. FG strung a few good holes together to get to 3 up after 7. Chappy won the 8th and they halved the 9th to go to the turn with FG 2 up.

Chappy won the 10th to narrow the gap to a single hole. 11 and 12 were halved but then FG put on a surge through 13 and 14 to go 3 up with 4 to play. Chappy pulled his finger out to par the next 3 holes and square the match.

All square on the last hole. Why did we even bother playing the previous 17?

You've already seen the details of that fateful last hole. Everyone was having such a nice time they just didn't want the round to end. Awwww...

Given there is still loads of time the idea of a complete rematch rather than go back to 18 or something is an excellent idea as it gives all a good excuse to get out again together. Bring it on.

Thought there may have been some discussion over a beer or wine at the end.

Alas Chappy had to bolt pretty much straight away. The impending birth of a child is a good reason not to linger after the game. I'm impressed he got a leave pass for the afternoon.

Thanks again to FG for a great match and to Bruce for afficiating.

We had beautiful weather, rarely waited between shots and a close fought match.

Bruce putted on the fast Southern greens with skill and was a pleasure to witness. If Bruce is a 23 handicapper with his swing and putting game then I'm a rare albino rhino.

Thank you for FG for the lovely and unexpected present for the impending arrival.

Look forward to the next match, hopefully I will bring my A putting game on the day FG. You played very well.

Chappy

WE are trying to get a date organised. Chappy has suggested two dates but I'm busy - so hopefully we'll come up with something soon.
Keep practising :)
