Pamps takes a 4 shot lead into the final round, finished at -14 :-D
He was swinging the club beautifully today and putting very well.
Would be great to see him pick up a second win.
2 other Aussies in the top 10 Ogilvy & Allenby are at -8

Go Pamps, the yanks don't really count his win the other year in the modified stab. event. Make another lot of them eat their words.

i'm crossing my fingers, toes , arms, legs , eyes ... EVERYTHING .... hoping Pamps can go on and finish off this tournament tomorrow 8)

His track record isn't real flash when leading a tournament late in the piece, but hopefully he can do it .... the guy really does deserve it.

When I looked a year or so ago, his final round scoring average was his worst of the 4 rounds, I think almost 2 strokes worse than any other. I hope he holds it together.

It could be a good week for aussie golfers as Graham Marsh is tied for the lead at The Champions Tour Toshiba classic.

Show me one guy who "doesn't count" The International. That's a great event that draws excellent fields every year. It's been around for a long time and is a highly respected title to hold.

Oh man, Greg Owen. Leading by one with a 3 footer for par to go 2 up with 1 to play, 3 putts to double bogey the hole. Then bogeys the last to pamps par to give pamps the win. Almost jumped out of my chair when owen missed the second putt on 17.

It was almost a case of "well, if nobody else wants this tournament, I'll take it..."

Both Pamps and Owen were lucky there was no-one else in the hunt. Neither really closed it, did they?

That said, huge congrats to Pamps. He deserves he win. He is a solid, solid player, and hopefully this will continue to lift his confidence. Would love to see him play well in the Majors this year.

i'm actually surprised he could pull himself together to hit the tee shot on 18 ... turned out to be a pretty good shot too.

Moe Norman

because he hadn't lost it yet, he lost it on 18 and there wasn't much wrong with the putt he hit there, other than it didn't go in...

He may not of lost it on the 17th, but it still took balls of steel to hit a good tee shot down 18 while feeling gutted.

exactly.

i don't care how good these guys are, you wouldn't be human if you weren't thinking about that disaster on 17 while you were lining up your tee shot on 18.

His putter screwed up on the 17th green, so why would he doubt the club he has in his hands on the 18th tee?

are you serious ?

it's not the club, it's the fact that he ****ed up big-time on t he previous green

you can't tell me he wouldn't be affected by that. You could tell he was because after he hit the tee shot he carried his driver down the fairway a bit and banged it into the ground a few times.

AndyP
21st March 2006, 12:45 PM
Two completely different types of strokes.
I could understand it when he takes his next putt.

But why would he have any reason to think that he would stuff up his drive?

Jarro
21st March 2006, 01:13 PM
because his confidence would've been shot.

Even the commentators said they were so glad he hit a good tee shot up 18, because the tendancy would be to tense up after the debacle that was the 17th green

How can people say they wouldnt be thinking about it on the next tee. If you 3 putt from so close or 4 putt i wanna see your reaction on the next tee box.

Did the 3-putt on the 17th green affect his tee shot on the 18th?
The answer from what you are telling me is no, he hit a good shot.

No Andy it didn't, and that is why his drive down the 18th was so good.
The fact that he was able to compose himself to make a good swing after the 3 putt on 17 is the whole point I was trying to make.

Surely you as a golfer can appreciate that fact alone?
