AndyP
14th March 2006, 05:22 PM
After much discussion, Steve and I have agreed on a date and venue for our matchplay.
Hopefully our decision will maximise OZgolf attendance also.

Here are the details of the round:
Venue: Oxley Golf Club
Date: Anzac Day, Tuesday, April 25
Time: 12pm to 1pm. The later the better.
Comp Format: Medley Stableford
Cost: Should be $19 if the other Open comps are anything to go by.
Calendar: http://www.ozgolf.net/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=26&day=2006-4-25&c=1

i've brought this issue up and I'm not too concerned about it.

as far as pennants go, who givres a rats?

Pennants is real golf - off the beater.

Point of order !

From the matchplay rules.

5. *Full AGU Handicap as at the date of the match applies, verifiable by golf link or other official source. * *AGU matchplay index to be used

Obviously "IF" a person does not have an AGU handicap they play off scratch.

Moe- might not make a difference to you, but what about the next person - and the next?
(he is not called 990_Burglar for nothing)

goughy
14th April 2006, 09:51 AM
Looking at golflink I'd guess he still has a valid hc. Golf link requires 5 valid cards in a 12 months period for it to stay active on golflink otherwise it reverts to a club based hc. But since you can have a valid agu hc at a club that's not on golflink then I'd say he's still ok. How many cards must be handed in over what minimum period at your club to keep a valid agu hc.

Moe Norman
14th April 2006, 10:09 AM
if he doesn't have it sorted by the time we play the match we'll both play off scratch.

seems fair to me.

Andy,

Do you want me to get our names down on Tuesday or will you call them?

990B Luva
14th April 2006, 03:12 PM
The problm is Golflink, my handicap is not lapsed, anyone can ring Jindalee (32793073 - ask to check Brett Warren's Handicap if you are that desperate) and confirm it if they wish but it is 15.1 or 15.2 (not sure if my McLeod round has gone through)

AndyP

I'll let you do the honours, Steve. I've organised a few games on the forum this month.

Brett - please read the rule again. and the onus is on you to prove your handicap not the other way around.

Given that you openly admit you dont play comps, and If i also remember correctly the last time i saw your Golf link there was only a couple of scores showing, and handicaps are lapsed at the beginning of every year, your pushing your luck trying to convince anybody it did not lapsed. With all due respect though - I do know that golf link should still show your record and state that it is lapsed.

based on your performance in some ozgolf days your damn lucky you dont get a special ozgolf handicap anyway - shall we have a poll :-)

honestly if Golfer69's handicap had lapsed not many people would complain if he continued to use 11, but lets face it your closer to a 5 handicap than a 15.

BrisVegas
14th April 2006, 06:44 PM

I wouldn't joke about that...

990B (along with choppa) is someone who doesn't need much of a handicap when he has a good day.

Congratulations to Steve on his 2 and 1 victory today. He is in a nice little form patch, and I was definitely outplayed.
He's a great putter and hit some really nice drives. Three super drives on the home stretch, come to mind, that really set the win up.

I started the round with two pars, yet was 2 down thru 2 as Steve had birdied both. What a start. I got it back to even by our 5th and it was a tight match from there.

I really enjoyed the match, as I don't get to play matchplay and it's good to see how your game (especially putting) holds up under pressure.
I actually played quite well, to my handicap, but was beaten by someone
playing better.

For the record, the margin was never more than 2 either way, and there were results on 12 of the 17 holes.

Well done, Steve.
Look out, Dave/Kee.

---------------------

I'll put the day results in a new thread in the 1st tee area, so Blakey can pick it up for the POTY money.

Lost to 990B 4&3. It started off weird for the first 5 holes as we traded holes and all were by 2 shot margins, so there was very little pressure.

Then I made a few birdies and got 2 up before losing 6 holes straight as 990B played some good golf and my putting went missing, even losing some of the holes where 990B didn't have a shot, which really cost me.

He sealed it nicely with a birdie on 6 (our 15th) after I drove the green and only managed Par.

Well done Brett - look out Stoney.

AndyP
26th April 2006, 01:54 PM
AndyP and I had a very close match with the big turning point coming on the 3rd (our 12th) when Andy found a bunker and lost a hole that he had a shot on. That squared the match and was the last shot I had to give him. :p
That did hurt a little bit, and you seemed to hit your straps a bit after that.
Really wish I had of sunk that birdie putt on 1 though.

I was a bit dirty about my lie in the bunker on 3, as it was just in front of a mound of sand (I was surprised to be in the bunker in the first place), and didn't prepare myself properly for the shot. The second bunker shot wasn't too good either.

After that you parred 4 of our last 5 live holes, without giving up a shot, so didn't really give me a look in at the end.
Your drives on 4, leaving 40 or so in, 6, leaving a greenside chip, and 8, to about 100 in, really set the holes up.

You played well when it counted.
