41 points today (22/19) - though that's back 9, front 9 - good if I happen to land on a countback. Currently leading B grade though.

Was pretty down about a few things this morning and after starting with a double wondered why I played. Next hole was a chopfest too but somehow scrambled a bogey. Then strung together 10 straight pars, a bogey and a birdie to be still only 3 over after 14.

Then I thought about it. Finished bogey, triple, bogey bogey. Sigh.

Still, pleased that I'm finally finding some consistency, have had 40, 37 and 41 in my last 3 rounds and hoping it's the start of a run back to single figures.

Heading back in the right direction, BenM.

----------------

30/12/14, Wolston Park GC (Temp 16th), Stroke.

4/11 effective tee shots, 6/18 effective approaches, 5/10 up and down successes, 0/1 sand saves, 27 putts.
3 birdies, 8 pars, 7 bogeys, 0 others.
Scoring: PbPBPPPBB bBBPBPPBb
Score (http://www.ozgolf.net/andyp/Scorecard/rounds/20141230-p163.html): 37-34-71 (+4) (Par 35-32-67)
Other stats: Equal lowest gross score at any course, equal second lowest number of putts.

A week before this round, I'd had one of my worst rounds of the year. This round was one of the best. Overall the stats aren't that impressive, except the putts, where I sank a lot of good ones either to save a hole or birdie. I struck the irons pretty well too, but I just couldn't get the tee shots in a position to capitalise on it enough.

Despite having a fairly poor second half of the year in golf terms, my handicap is now at a low of 6.6.

Next round: OZgolf NY round at Pacific Harbour on Friday.

Not the smartest round, 2 days before the Pac Harbour Showdown!

41 points (20/21) around Reddie Bay in the swelter today. Didn't miss a fairway, hit 50% of greens, 3 putted the last.

14/14 FIR
9/18 GIR
32 putts
5 U & Ds
12 pars
6 bogies

I ended up 2nd in A grade, though I am scratching my head as to how I got beat by a 13 handicapper as our A Grade is 0 - 12?? They are also showing a 15 hcp as 3rd?? A mate shot 46 points today off 16, 9 putts on the back nine apparently!

Next round is Friday at Pac Harbour.

44 points (24/20) for a win in B Grade - 77 off the stick, 5 over par - my best round so far at GCCC and if truth be told, my best round for about 20 years - parred the front, including 2 birdies and a double - back featured 2 three-putt bogies and a double - aim for the year was to reach 13 cap from 18 which I was pleased to achieve, but today's round puts me on 12 - wooohooo!!!!!

The run of good form continues - played holes 1-18 at Corowa this morning in the comp and had 3 over off 8 for 41 points. Could have been so much better as I had it back to 1 over with 3 holes to go but limped home with bogey , bogey and par. Still it was still an even par back nine which had the 2 bogeys and 2 birdies which included a lip out for eagle. Had lots of reasonable birdie chances as well on the remaining holes but just didn't convert enough.

Front nine took a bit to get going but made some good par saves coming in as well a nice birdie on a par 3 hitting to about a foot and a half.

Looking forward to the next round whenever that is. Handicap is also on its way back down after my injury after blowing out to 7.9 the last 4 flagged rounds have got it back to 6.7.

Well done Peppas, what a great start to 2015 :)

I started 2015 with a whimper. My last 4 holes were 7, 8, 7, 6...12 over for 4 holes :( I also managed to break the hosel on my putter, tossed it (what I thought was gently) towards the cart and it went a bit harder and caught the corner. FFS

Was OK before that, 12 GIR, too many putts, driver was OK, irons were good, course still not enjoyable.

39 points (17/22) - first game off new 12 hcap and was worried it would be the only one as I had a lowish score dropping out - front 9 featured 3 three-putts and a miss on the 9th when I shanked it into the bush off the tee and never made the green at all - back 9 much better for 2 over par including a double and one birdie - in a purple patch

Congrats on the ace, Pep. What was the ball of choice, and have you posted on their FB page to express your gratitude? :p

A rather indifferent 26 points this morning at Richmond. Swing was up the creek, sliced 2 balls OOB on the 4th, a couple of other rotten tee shots, but on the upside my wedge play was somewhat decent.

No flagged rounds to drop off for the next 5 rounds so still a fair way to go before I arrive in Anchorage.

02/01/15, Pacific Harbour GC, OZgolf Stableford.

8/14 (2/7,6/7) effective tee shots, 7/18 (1/9,6/9) effective approaches, 0/5 (0/3,1/2) up and down successes, 1/1 (0/0,1/1) sand saves, 35 (20,15) putts.
2 (0,2) birdies, 5 (1,4) pars, 5 (3,2) bogeys, 6 (5,1) others.
Scoring: XXBXBXBPX PBXbBPPbP
Score (http://www.ozgolf.net/andyp/Scorecard/rounds/20150102-p164.html): 52-38-90 (+16+2=+18) stab 8-20-28pts (Par 36-36-72)
Other stats (since May 2010): Biggest difference between nines, second worst gross score over nine.

The roller coaster continued, but this time it was all during the one round. I've highlighted it by splitting the stats above.

For the first six holes, I did not keep a tee shot in play; I was either dropping the ball from a hazard or punching out of scrub. You can't score well when you do that, and I managed 13 over through those holes. I just kept pulling the ball far left, and I felt helpless in controlling it.

I finally found a fairway on 7, and although things didn't completely turn around then, some better shots were being played over the next bunch of holes, without converting them to good scores.

The last six holes were the opposite to the first six. I hit the target from the tee every time, I hit 5 from 6 greens, had a few one putts and scored one under, showing what I can be capable of.

It was a bizarro round and an amazing turnaround in play, and I'm not sure why I was so bad early, or what turned it around. It is possible that I really just need to have a few practice hits beforehand. I don't like to hit a full bucket of balls, but I like to few balls in the nets. My home course has them, but a lot of other courses don't, so I'll have a bunch of putts, but go in cold otherwise. It's something for me to think about.

Next round: Tomorrow morning at Wolston Park. I reckon it has been a fair while since I have played three rounds in a week, without it being an OZgolf event.

Odd day today. Heavy rain kept a lot a lot of people away and the pro shop staff started directing golfers away from the 3rd nine as it was soaked and some greens were starting to flood, we didn't see any others out on that nine in the morning [it makes up the back 9 of the North course].
Checked results tonight to see I had won on the North with 32 pts and the only golfers to play that course was our group of 3...
3 on the North / 10 on the West and 104 on the Old.
That's one way to get a win...

Thanks Waz.
The new irons are certainly better but the big difference is the Big Bertha driver. Coupled with the Harrison shaft that I bought off benno_r it is the ultimate fairway finder.

Managed to get a round in today before I melted. What a sport this is we chose to play...I thought I was bad yesterday :(

Had 95 at penrith in our monthly medal, first time I broke 100 off the back plates, So pretty happy.

And on the 18th I bladed my 9i 30m past the green. Had a nightmare downhill chip, and it went in for a birdie. Was happy as.

04/01/15, Wolston Park GC, Stableford.

5/11 effective tee shots, 11/18 effective approaches, 2/4 up and down successes, 35 putts.
1 birdie, 11 pars, 5 bogeys, 1 other.
Scoring: BPPBPPbPP PBBPPPBXP
Score (http://www.ozgolf.net/andyp/Scorecard/rounds/20150104-p165.html): 36-37-73 stab 20-16-36pts (Par 35-32-67)
Other stats (since May 2010): Best consecutive rounds (71-73) at my home course since Sept 2011 (72-71).

There wasn't any split personality golf today, but there were a few pulled drives that cost me some shots, particularly the hazard on the first and OOB on the 18th. I hit the irons well all day hitting the target many times, but I just couldn't get the length of the putts right; probably from coming off the round at Pacific Harbour and they were a little bit furry and scuffed. One of these days I am going to convert a round like this into a top score, but not this time. Today, I couldn't even get a rare eagle putt close.

Next round: Nothing booked, but I'd like to have a hit of some sort this coming week.

03/01/2015 - My second game as an official handicap holder again in about about 5 years

Playing off 14, managed to shoot square round the front nine at Sandy gallop and the capitulated to an 8 over back nice with 2 doubles.

Far from impressed, but the consistency will take time again i guess. Came 3rd on a count back with a net 64 (par70)

Handicapper got stuck into me - will be off 9 this week (use to be off around 3 as a kid under the old system)
