After speaking with MTB, I decided to run a NSW POTY thread so as to make it less confusing to look at the overall OzGolf POTY thread for us NSW OzGolfer's. Also with the discussion about the strokeplay having more than the 5 events that it started with, I thought of ways to get everyone that is competitive involved in chasing something.

So here is the current POTY standings as of MTB's latest update, before anyone jumps at me for them being different than that which is on MTB's list, there is a reason. He made an error in the game that Jim & I played at Wallacia. I beat jim but he paid jim the winner money. He said it will be fixed in the next update.

1. Matt3Jab$26,500
2. Jono$18,500
3. Grunt$18,500
4. Jimandr$16,000
5. Miro'sWife$16,500

11. VirgalTracy$5,500
12. Fishman Dan$2,000
13. Andrew$2,000
14. Miro $0

I will update these figures when MTB does his next update, the above are current up to Kogarah on the 15th Feb.

Just as a side interest, bit like the PGA Tour if you will, can we see games played alongside as well ?? or is this difficult ??

I think this also needs to be updated for Bardwell Valley on the 26/3 and Australia Day (26/2) - I figure Blakey will get around to it eventually

You're also playing Brooky, Grunt, so there is plenty of money to be had. If you can find a couple of extra players for Brooky and/or the Champs, you could mathematically pass me in the overall POTY too.

ps. I will make up a perpetual trophy to pass onto Jim. Not sure of design just yet but will make one up. Sort of glad I never won as it would have been weird making myself a trophy. Plus I don't think I would have been a deserving winner, not this year anyway. Look out for 2008

Plus I don't think I would have been a deserving winner, not this year anyway. why is that Grant, a quantity V quality argument ? Please explain :)

Grunt
21st November 2007, 11:03 AM
Think that Jim deserved it with the quality, so yes I believe quality beats quantity. Our moneylist is definitely shaded towards quantity though, more games with lesser sized fields does that.

3oneday
21st November 2007, 11:20 AM
So, is money styled on number of players ? Maybe less than 4 players should be worth less, like significantly less ? $500 for the winner ?

Just a thought, but I am also sure I read about a sliding scale somewhere ?

Grunt
21st November 2007, 12:42 PM
That would be easy Pete, only one problem we can't get 4 players too often.

It may get better this year but I am not holding my breath Jarro. People down here seem to prefer their home track so that is where the majority of game time is. I understand that, just that I am a golfer that plays anywhere (almost) due to my shiftwork/weekend work.

If I had a local club membership, I'd be playing a hell of a lot less abroad too.
I'd break my yearly membership down to what it is costing me per round I play there.

At least you did better than Victoria's one OZgolf day.

Why torture yourself. What you don't know can't hurt.

Just like I have no idea how much I spent in the ozgolf weekend.

Moe Norman
21st November 2007, 02:28 PM
Exactly.

Most of my golf used to be ozgolf rounds, but now I'll be playing every week at my home club and will only make the occasional major, and perhaps host a few ozgolfers every now and then.

Comes down to cost/benefit

3oneday
21st November 2007, 02:46 PM
Comes down to cost/benefitso true, when you can pay $12 at home or play a social round for free. At least twice that elsewhere in a comp ;)

Don't hold your breath, most of Sydney Ozgolfers won't be doing anything different than 2007.....

There are a few reasons.

1. The yearly sub for Sydneysiders are over and above 1K per year. For this reason, most of Sydney golfers tend to pick a club that we like, enjoy and play at our home track as much as we can. Why would you pay so much a year and then pay more $$$ to play at another club?

Riverside Oaks membership would be more beneficial. :)

2. I have a bunch of guys at my home track that I enjoy playing with.
Note the word "enjoy". I would play with them anywhere, it doesn't have to be at my home track. 8):smt038

I'll be doing in 2008 the same as I did in 2007, which is trying to play golf with my OzGolf friends and colleagues whenever the opportunity arises. If that means I play a lot of money-counting rounds, then I win both ways.

I can play my home course any time, so if I get the chance to play other courses with people I know and enjoy playing golf with, then I'll accept the invitation.

I even enjoyed my game with Fishman Dan at his home course, and I'll go there again!
