View Full Version : The best bargain purchase you've jagged on OzGolf?

Folks,

In recognition of myself this week being on the receiving end of the best bargain golf purchase I've ever scored on OzGolf (and in golf in general) - and as a testament to how awesome it is to have access to such a lively, robust marketplace for quality second hand golf gear (and one that from my experience is populated by some very amicable dudes) - I thought it'd be worth starting a thread detailing the best golf purchases we've been lucky enough to have jagged in the OzGolf Pro Shop to date. What you bought, what you paid, who you got it from, and when, if you remember. My apologies to the elder statesmen of OG if there's already a thread on this.
I'll get the ball rolling:
- A set of 712MBs 4-PW (with hard stepped R300 SuperLites) in cracking nick, $320, from rick3003, purchased on 090914.

And for what it's worth, after a range session and one practice round, God knows how but I seem to be hitting the MBs better than my 712AP2s (Project X 6.0). Explain that one!

Great idea mate and good on you for embracing the community. Ps your probably hitting the blades better as the shafts are a lot less stiff and easier to load ;)

Thanks mate. I do consider the OzGolf forums in general a very handy resource. We should be grateful. And yeah, think you're right re: lighter shafts in the MBs. Forgot to mention that they are hard stepped once, but yeah they feel great. When I was considering purchasing them, I'd assumed I'd probably need to find new shafts for them. But they're pretty awesome as is. Thanks rick3003! I also really like the thinner soles - I seem to hit down on the ball a fair bit, and the way the MBs glide through the turf is pretty awesome. And good lord they look sexy, almost feel hesitant to hit them, they look that nice:).

Bronze - Ping G10 driver off PingLauncher ($150, when it was only just superceded in 2010)
Silver - 50+ hours of free advice off Virge666 over the past couple of years.
Gold - 2009 Ford Mondeo off Grunt (at $14,500, it is probably OZgolf's biggest sale)

10 years of bargains, most of the time I can't even remember what irons/driver/putter I was using a month ago.

A set of Kbs Ctaper shafts where I opened the box they came in took one out had a look then reposted for sale in the proshop at a $50 loss. Why is this a bargain you ask! If I had used them they would have cost many times the amount that I would have lost!

Best bargain on Ozgolf has been hanging out with Perci and his off casts, never mind all the time and effort he has put into building clubs for me I'ver the last 5 years.

$$$ wise to many to even remember :)

This is a tough one to answer, I don't think that anyone in the market for golf gear could go past Ozgolf for pure value for money.

I have been the fortunate recipient of some significant generosity when it comes to gear on Ozgolf and like to think I have passed on some gems over the years too.

I don't think you can measure a bargain based purely on cost, I think you need to consider what it did for your game as well.

I bought a 7 wood off Bluu last year.
Cost me less than fifty bucks.
I love that club as much as I love my kids.

I have rotated so many items through the bag over the years. The X forged iron heads I got from PTP for $280 and one of the Trusty Rustys that Perci sold me for somewhere around $50 are still in the bag.

You get information and advice off Dotty and Liptout?

No wonder your handicap got anchored last year.

I don't buy much because there isn't much LH stuff, but I got a driver shaft that has been absolute gold for my game. I think it was $110 bucks. Love it

Green marker pen off the spud at Vic champs ( thanks mate!)

The ability to play such great courses in Melbourne with top blokes takes the cake but. Would never do that type of trip by myself so was lucky for it to be organised and handed to me for such a small price to be honest.

The V Steel 5 wood (and the 3 wood head that I moved on for next to nothing) that I traded with Outcast for a couple of Nakashima fairway heads.

Been a little over a year since I put it in the bag and I can only remember hitting one catastrophic shot with it. Otherwise excellent!
