I recently got a 38" spider mallet putter that is to long and I want to cut it down to 36".

But I've been told that if I cut it down I'll have to have it balanced again. I just thought the grip was the balance weight for the putter.

So a little help before I get it cut down and is there any problems doing it.

Had a 38" Futura X that I wanted to do the same to. Was just too hard - sold it and put a Tour Lock Pro in a shorter putter instead.

Shouldn't be that hard if the weight is in butt of shaft like the futura x is. Blow grip off take weight out, cut, add weight, putt grip on and drain some putts!

I was told that some have the weight in the butt of the putter shaft but I thourght that with TM counter balanced putter the grip was the counter weight.

Pull the grip off and have a look. If there is a weight pull it out, then cut the shaft and replace everything.

If there isn't a weight, cut and reinstall grip and you're done!

I am pretty sure I read on GolfWRX that the weight is all in the Grip.

the daddy long legs, tank cruiser and titleist counter-balanced putters the weight is in the grip itself.

i think titleist may do some adjustments with butt weights if u ask for it though

My Titleist (Scotty Futura X DB) had a 50g weight epoxied in the butt of the shaft.

My futura x wasn't in the grip, it was epoxied in top of the shaft..

Just an update, got an email back from TMAG, with TM CB putters you can extend from 35 to 38 or vice versa and it will be exactly same as their stock putter.
