Just interested on thoughts on this club, have read that you need to be a really good long iron player to babe one of these? Haven't tested one out yet but am keen to!

I've got the 2 and 4 still looking for the 3 but I agree with being a decent ball striker is a massive help, miss hits are pretty harsh but there so soft out of the middle. great irons.

What's your set up like? I am playing a 4 iron and 4 hybrid, but looking at something that will give me a lower more penetrating ball flight off the tee and off the deck. Would you recommend the 3 or 4?

I would have thought a normal hybrid to be more playable for a 15 marker.

I would have thought a normal hybrid to be more playable for a 15 marker. The hybrids are working well for me at the moment but am playing a fair bit, my handicap was 15 start of last year then had a break due to year 12. Am Back into it now need to get my cards in to get a new number. But as I said am looking for something that gives me abit of a lower more penetrating ball flight.

Hybrid is definitely easier to hit but I'm a pretty decent ball striker so I like playing longer irons but I'll still throw the hybrids in depending on conditions and what course. Bit of practice with the hybrid and you can hit low penetrating bullets.

Defiantly don't plan to get rid of the hybrid in my bag, just am drawn to this club might give it a hit on track man and see where it's fits in my yardages.
On titleist website it says it's a custom order? Do I have to go directly through titleist to get one?
Thanks for your help

Went into pro-shop with the intention of getting a 712U - came out with a 910 hybrid instead after results on the launchmonitor showed me I was getting way more distance and accuracy with the hybrid. Then again I'm a fairly high handicapper.

I had the 4 and didn't think it was that much easier to hit than a AP2 4iron.

I prefer my hybrids.

Pretty good, but tbh i find the s+ shaft in the 913H better for me (it feels a bit softer in flex vs the Kalil).

On the second hand market i think the difference is only about $30 now, so Id say yes. Not worth the full retail difference though

The answer is yes, you do have to be a good ball striker to hit it. Had one, now have a Mizzy MP-H4 which is substantially easier to hit.

I really like them but I also haven't used a lot of different irons. I have tried the AP1's so no idea how they go. As I understand they have strong lofts and are more offset than the AP2's.

if you're considering a 712U and aren't a good ballstriker, look towards the mizuno fli hi irons.

thick sole/base to pick the ball up cleanly...without the chunked shots. my mate who plays off 3 has both...i'm off 1 and can only hit the mizuno fli hi consistently (and really enjoying hitting it on tough long par 3's...ie 195m ones... much easier than hitting a hybrid accurately)

i hit one today on a short par 4 today for a laugh after i laced my 4 wood... hit the 712U about as far as i hit my 6 iron... not hitting that thing again haha!

Have just been fit for the AP2s was tough not to go the AP1s! My thinking was its a iron set i can play for awhile, unless my club hoeing takes toll!

I meant I haven't hit the AP1's.

There are few of the lads on here that didn't like the AP2's but that's just personal preference.

I nearly moved mine on about 6 months ago cos I bought mizuno's with c-tapers but so glad I didn't.

Played with a 1 marker recently who was piping his Fli Hi 2-iron. Said he couldn't hit hybrids...

Digging up an oldie.
Thinking of grabbing a 712u/S300 for hits n giggles to sometimes switch with my 18.5* hybrid. I don't have any drama hitting my hybrid how I want & it's just an itch I'd like to scratch. My next iron is a 5 iron that I give a fair nudge, so it's a gap filling between my 5 iron & 5 wood. I've hit these a handful of times over the last couple of years but can't remember whether they were a 2,3 or 4?
For those that have them or have hit them quite a bit do they launch high/low?
I'm trying to work out if I want a #2 or a 3. If they come out a little high I may get away with a 2 but if not a 3 may be the way to go?
Appreciate your input, cheers.

Just re read my post & realised I got it wrong sorry. I've been playing my 5 wood instead of my hybrid & the 712u will be a replacement for my 5 wood/hybrid. So it'll be between my 3 wood (12* mini sldr) & 5 iron.
Thanks again

Saw these yesterday. Solid bargain. Jado, you're a bit young to be starting your iron set-up with a 5-iron, aren't you?:). For a strapping young lad like yourself, who drives it like this bloke: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYI0bPnvzOY , surely you can handle a 4-iron...:).

I don't need a 4 iron brotha, the 5 goes far enough. Only one of the U's would be in the bag instead of my 5 wood/hybrid or unless the course or conditions warranted carrying two of them & I'd drop a wedge.
