I knew there was a reason I liked you Eagsy. It's your winning Aries personality. I'm the day before. :)

Do yourself a favour people and go check out the official Masters web site.
This year they are showing real time footage of the practise range and Amen corner :-D

Also check out some of the great Masters videos on the site, I just watched highlights from the 1986 Masters
Note : you will need Realplayer to view all videos.

Aussies really struggling on the first day at Augusta. Only 1 aussie in under par midway through the 1st round of the masters this morning. Vijay leading with -5 and in the clubhouse, Tiger has finished with an even par round. Last place in +16, a big spread of scores for the 1st day.

Scores @ 5:45am Thursday

Appleby -1 (10thhole)
Pampling Even (clubhouse)
O'Hern Even (16th Hole)
Ogilvy Even (10th Hole)
Allenby +1 (Clubhouse)
Scott +2 (7th Hole)
Lonard +6 (12th Hole)
Hensby +7 (16th Hole)

Guess a couple of them are well and truely out if it now unless the guys in front of them have the shockers they have had today tomorrow.

What is the cut at the Masters? 60 plus ties?

Fishman Dan
7th April 2006, 06:29 AM
Scott eagle at 13 - putt from off the green. Back to EVEN. If he can keep it together and stop the odd bad hole then he's a chance of doing something.

Hensby interview now - he should talk more often prior to tournaments.. +8 was solid.

appleby -2 after 17
ogilvy -2 after 15

I'm quite impressed with the skills of Ian Healy - excellent knowledge of golf and doesn't come off sounding/looking like an absolute tool like Kenny Sutcliffe!

pretty good 1st round from the aussies apart from the big mouth

Moe Norman
7th April 2006, 08:29 AM
Scott left a few out there with some uncharacteristic poor ball striking.

Ogilvy looked good and Apples looks very dangerous.

I had a look on the Masters site last night around midnight (QLD time ;)) and loaded up the driving range webcam. Sure enough, Tiger was there blasting a few drives and some knockdown irons.

Those greens are going to be even faster than usual on the weekend

Jarro
10th April 2006, 05:27 AM
man they are missing some putts

Freddie had short birdie chances at 2 and 3 and missed, and Ogilvy was on the par 5 13th for 2 and 3 jagged :(

Rocco on the 12th played it just like I could I reckon. Water, Water, Bunker!!! All he needs now is 2 shots to get out and a 3 putt.

Lefty does it again, just way to solid down the stretch.
Got to love Woods comment "I was in total control of my ball striking but was a spaz on the greens"
Great stuff :-D

Jarro
10th April 2006, 11:50 AM
How i wish Freddie had of dropped a few of those putts

Nice win to Lefty, he has been the best player on t he planet the last few months anyway. A thoroughly deserved winner.

Went into Caboolture to pay my fees yesterday. No sign of Brett; the guy I normally pay them to. Had to go upstairs to the bar.
"Rocky, where's Brett?"
"Oh, he's over in Atlanta staying with Rod Pampling. We just had a call from him this morning. He's having a wonderful time."
I bet he is!

I have a work trip to Atlanta, Georgia this week.

Anyone know where Augusta is? I would mind having a quick drive to have a look from outside the fence... ....

My mate lived in Atlanta until a few months ago. He drove out to Augusta one day (about 2 hr drive) just for a look. He got 100m in the drive before security jumped him and told him to p!55 off!
