Hi all,

Been a bit busy with work recently so haven't really been around much.

Just wondering what you guys are looking to purchase or try over the next few months.

For me:
Drivers - Cleveland Hi-Bore;
Fairways - Adams RPM LP Tour 14.5 or 16;
Putters - Scotty Cameron JAT or Del Mar 3.5, Odyssey 2-Ball SRT, Zomo Z:X, Gauge proto (JAT style), Bettinardi BB2-DASS
Shafts - GD PM 702/902, Mitsubishi Rayon Bassara, Diamana Red Board, Aldila VS Proto

Cheers,
T

Jarro,

SQ Tour is still sickeningly good... played with a mate of mine who swings at close to 120 mph last weekend and even he complimented me on a few of my drives.

Gotta try the new drivers though. Experimenting with a Bridgey 460 Diamana at the moment.

Cheers,
T

How do you find the Bridgey compares to the SQ ??

I found the SQ a little too clumsy feeling .. i'm not used to swinging drivers that are 460cc

Is the Bridgey a little easier to handle ?

Initial impressions are that both drivers are superb. The differences are:

Trajectory: SQ Tour 9.5 has a higher trajectory than Bridgestone 10.5
Forgiveness: SQ is more forgiving
Feel: Bridgestone has the solid thump that I used to get from my 510 TP Tour... SQ is very vibrant at impact... both are good and depends what you like
Appearance: Bridgestone looks much smaller at address

I haven't taken both out on the course yet to compare distances. I'm betting they'll be line ball.

I still have a woody for a set of Nike blades but since I barely play anymore I'd probably struggle to get the ball anywhere near the sweetspot.
The rest of the bag is set.

Gotta say I'm not keen on the new look for Titleist Fairways.... This is the retail version (906) of the F3-05 proto that a few of the PGA guys have been using... Think I better get a 904F 5 wood before they change the look as I am LOVING my 904F 3 wood.

"L" series in golf terms means "Tour"

But just like in golf it the guy on the end of the equipment still has to be able to get the best out of it.

Would like to try a 905R with decent shaft would be great ;)

Other then that I would like to reshaft most of the thing I got in my bag... and definately want to reshaft the wedges to something 1 or 1/2 flex softer.

I'm after a camera, but won't go for a pro model like yours tez. Was thinking a 350D might be more suitable.

Oh and a new putter. It's the only club that has never changed in my bag....ever. Going for a cheap Ping until I can buy a scotty

Want to get some wedges(srixon) and woods (V-steel or bridgestone 4 wood, maybe a Nak driver)...and then get the set to match. At the moment I have 5 different shaft flexs in my bag...gotta get that sorted so they all play the same.

Also want to tweak the lofts on my irons...but that is not really hoing is it!

Basically want to get a full overview with Ben, to get properly fitted and matched gear.

A man after my own heart! :-D i had a roll with turboalfa's Newport Beach last night and it's sooo similar to the Ping Anser it's not funny. Maybe a touch more weight on the Scotty's versus their equivalent Pings, but that's it.

Drunken ,my 20D has just been superseded by the 30D,so I'm sure that you could get a good price on the 20D in coming months.

Terry.

drunken
27th February 2006, 12:46 PM
Yeah I'm just keeping my eye on things, as I wasn't going to buy for a few months anyway. The 20D seems to have the advantage in a better housing & more/faster continuos shooting.

Mmm the 20D should go down alot, seeing as its RRP is higher than the 30D....

connico
27th February 2006, 12:48 PM
lol Hey Terry i could get you an L series Tour lense, how about an 24-70mm f/2.8L USM lense, which would almost cost as much as your camera when your brough retail :)

Regardless the 30D really is only a slight upgrade, not much different between the two cameras, i test drove the 30D its a little heavier and can shot more continuous shots at the same speed and more memory settings...basically the same body as well...and its apprantly cheaper....wtf?

Drunken please note that the 10D is also a nice camera and its a lot cheaper then the 20D and 30D... compartively unless your sports shotting then a 10D will do an excellent job for everything else...with the money you save you can get better lenses mate...even if you want to sports shot the 10D will still do 3fsp with max 9 images if memory serves be correctly, it also has a slower max shutter speed of 1/4000 instead of the 1/8000 in the 20 and 30...and its 6.3mp

but its much cheaper and still an effective camera

drunken
27th February 2006, 12:51 PM

My ho'ing days are limited ... ;)

Driver: Very happy with the Cobra F Speed. If I can't drive it as far as Stephen Kennedy, I may as well be as loud as him ... 8) The only thing I might try is reshaft with the V2. Loved the feel of the V2 in TS's driver.
3 Wood: Still looking for my perfect 3 wood. I'm hoping Miro's Callaway with perhaps an NV shaft may be the answer. We'll see.
Hybrid: Very happy with the Wishon 18 degree now that I have the right shaft in it. (NV75 Stiff)
Irons: I like my Oxygens, but I would prefer something with less offset but just as much forgiveness. I've hooked a few shots with the Oxygens. Hmmm ... I hear the Callaways calling me ...
Wedges: Pretty happy with the Pings ... i3+'s in PW and GW, mb's in SW and LW. The unshankable wedge is out of the bag for the time being.
Petter: Pelz modified 2 ball blade putter. This one is for keeps ... for the time being.
