It might even make the national news too!
Headlines & postmatch quotes
"NSW OzGolfer's Finally Play match"
"The game that turned the the NSW OZGolf StrokePlay Champs on it Head"
"8 players play in infamous game @ Camden Lakeside"
"Viscous Sledging heard in Final group"
"Putting poor in 1st group"
"Golf the Victor on the Day"
"Matchplay victor confident of overall win in Championships"
"Matchplay loss sees player spit dummy and vow never to play again"
"Matchplay loser vows to win next year"

I wonder how many of these will come true?

The sledging has already started. Grant you may be putting well but we can all hold the green with our approaches. We in the first group also know that you guys won't be a threat as yourself and Trung are home course heroes and don't travel well.

Trung you can have Connico if you like or you could raise your game and come join us. Take your pick.

Bring on tomorrow.

I usually don't back down from a side game, but this time, I would prefer to just play golf. Nursing a very sore neck at the moment with lots of Neurofen. I am just hoping that I can make a swing tomorrow. Hit some balls at the range today with Matt and I couldn't even finish a small bucket ... Might have to just bunt down the fairway with a half swing tomorrow ... :-D

ARe you throwing a challenge my way? You gotta do better than that for me even to slightly consider moving to the first group.

17th March 2006, 04:11 PM
OK it has finally happened and after 268 posts the round has been played and done. The important result and the one why we all came together was my matchplay with Andrew. I was never in the hunt despite starting with a 2 putt par which Andrew managed to halve with a great sand save.

From there I knackered myself by putting a ball out of bounds or ijnto the water on the holes that I had a stroke on on the front 9.

Andrew turned 2 up gained a stroke on the 10th and we traded a couple before Andrew finished 4/3.

For the OzGolf day we were joined by Matt and Stu (burger) for what was a great exhibition of golf by MAtt who was hitting them long and straight for the most part. What a pleasure it was to play with these guys and the course was definitely one that I would return to especially at the $50 discount rate.

Didn't see much of the group behind but they were obviously enjoying themselves.

Slight confusion on the format of the day but for the most part the scores didn't change much. Here they are for official purposes.

MAtt nett 70 / 38pts
Andrew nett 71 / 35 pts
Trung nett 75 / 35 pts
Jono nett 74 / 34 pts
Connico nett 86 / 33 pts
Burger nett 76 / 32 pts
Virgal nett 80 / 31 pts
GRunt nett 89 / 20 pts

Obviously we have gone on stab pts as it gives everyone a chance. (Connico had 48 strokes on holes that he wiped.

Bradman awards go to Grunt and Connico.

Great day. Lets do it again without taking 270 posts to organise.

Yeah was fun, i had a great day, great company, even jono was a blast. Was all smilles except for 5 wholes of which totaled 48 strokes...but i shall not talk about that...not at all....

O sorry jono you had to suffer all those bumps and my hood like driving and also the cussing after those 5 holes...but we shall not mention that again.....

Well had a real crappy golf day, but the company was great. Thanks Trung, Jono & Connico. I got some pics of swings on the 1st tee and will post them later tonight if I get time.

It is real hard being used to slicing the ball, aiming like usual lining up on the left side of the fairway to hit draws or straight out hooks. It concluded in me having no idea where the drives were going to go. Maybe it was karma for all the chaos I had caused to the organising of the day.

Maybe next time in another OzGolf Day I will be able to bring the Grunt 'A' game that I have seem to never be able to bring to events with any more than 2 of you involved in.

Anthony (connico) you are going to hammer that handicap with that game you are playing. Off the tee you were great, I wish I was that consistently straight off the tee.
The 2 of us in an ambrose could be a great package ;) nice handicap too!

Congrats to Andrew on the matchplay win and also to Matt for his overall win today.

Great fun as always ... My quick impressions.

After taking maximal dose of Neurofen, my neck pain held out ... thank goodness. I was almost considering not playing today. I just hope I don't wake up tomorrow with bigger pain. My game was pretty average. Not too good, not too bad.

Trung, I thought you were hitting the ball really well today. And then on the back nine you hit two drives that were 30 degrees right (no joke) and two duck hooks. Where did those come from? Still a solid 35 pointer.

Connico, you have a natural swing and few of your drives looked like that of a single handicapper. Just need a bit of consistency and your handicap should be slashed by half in no time. Those Ram blades looked sweet.

Grant, ... ummm ... I'm trying to think of something positive to say about your play today ... Nup. Can't think of any. Just not your day, huh? ;)

$50 for the round, and free range balls from Grant ... Great value. Great fun. Let's do it again soon.

PS. I agree with Andrew about Peter Thompson designs. Just doesn't seem quite right ... artificial, manufactured links type courses ... Sorry Mr Thompson.

Trung
17th March 2006, 10:45 PM
thanks guys, had a great day..

been tiling the house for the past 7 days so it was nice to get out for a game. I went after a few drives on the back 9s but the body rotation was out of wack when swung too hard. (hence the blocks and hooks)...

Hopefully keep it nice and simple for future games.

Will have to do it again soon :)

Well, first i want to say thanks to my cart partner stu, thanks for a great day, thanks to my playing partners andrew and vince. Was a great day for sure, well worth the money for the course.

I played well, came in bogey bogey to have +5, but thats ok, and really, who puts a tree in the middle of the fairway???

i'm now a course designer too, my trademark...............................Frilly Bits!!! Guess you had to be there.

Good to see a good turn out midweek and i would go back there in a second, was just a great day.

Cheers.........................................im going to enjoy this one\\:D/ :smt030 :smt030 :smt040

Jono,I had an off day yes, but to be honest my give a S H I T meter was pointing to the ground and swaying in the breeze after a few holes. Everyone has these days but I was also trying things that actually did work today in my comp round at Mac Grange. Maybe I will have a good day next time we play and you will see results.

Fishman Dan

I like the 18th at CL - the tree is your gamble, play safe to the right and risk running out of fairway, or go to the left and have a short approach... or a wet or sandy ball.

Still think CL is the better top-shelf course in Sydney (or just out of Sydney), but yet to play Twin Creeks.

Grunt
18th March 2006, 03:44 PM
Have heard Dan that Twin Creeks you have to make sure your Sand game is on. Lots of Bunkers there.

Dan,

There is a large gum tree just left of the tee about 50m in front of the tee that is now big enough to stop the golfer who wants to go for the bold line. That tree has to go because it effects the strategy of the hole.

The golfer who is willing to do something stupid should never be stopped.

Mate, the way you go on about my three putting tendencies, I thought you would brush off my comments like Trung did to Connico's sledging on the first green ...

I'm sure you'll play better next time we play ... which I believe will be at Eastlakes. 8)

I too had a great day out, as I said to Matt any day out playing golf in the sunshine is WAY better than being at work! :-D :-D

Thanks MAtt for great company and not putting sh!t on my waywardness.
Nice to meet Andrew and have another game with Vince.

It was great watching Matt play - he was in good form and if he keeps putting like he did, he'll have to change his sign-on!
I was hoping some of Matts game would rub off on me, but not much joy in that area.

Comment of the day was from Matt, something along the lines of "what aim for that bunker with the frilly bits?"
Lots of frilly bits comments after that. :smt002

Liked seeing Andrews 'slice' which goes dead straight.
Some of Vince's drives were almost enough to make me sign up for the Bridgestone brotherhood.

I wasnt too happy with my game, especially tee shots, but hey it was a BEAUWDIFUL day to be at golf! Surprised myself with ending up with 32 points, felt saved myself a few shots with pitchs & putts.
Apparantly my two good (par 4/5) tee shots were on 8th whole of each nine. So now mentally will be playing LOTS of 8th & 17th holes!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for organising the game guys, as always LOTS of fun.

Oh, and thanks Conninco for the lift matey! say Hi to (was it) 'Sharon' for me . . .:smt002
