Highlight thus far, Tiger beating Stephen Ames 9 and 8 !!! :smt119

4 Aussie through to the 2nd round:

Adam Scott
Robert Allenby
Nick O'Hern
Geoff Ogilvy

Ernie is in a struggle to beat Bernhard Langer at the moment but most all other highly seeded players are through.

Watching it right now, Langer might just get up here. All the other aussies that Pete didn't mention are all out, Lonard, Appleby, Hensby, Elkington & Pampling.
Allenby has to play Tiger next round, hope Tiger has used all his good golf.

AndyP

Adam Scott
Robert Allenby
Nick O'Hern
Geoff Ogilvy

At least one of them will get through to the next round, as O'Hern and Ogilvy are playing each other.

Ernie got done by Langer guess it would open that part of the draw right up.

To Ames defence - Tiger shot -7 for 9 holes, including birdies on holes 1-6!!! :shock:true, it was in the paper today that Tiger used Ames comments about him hitting it everywhere, or whereever he was hitting it, as added motivation. Like he needs more things to make him play better !!!

Allenby 1 down after 10, Scott the same, the two aussie playing each other are square.

At least we are assured of one through to the third round now !!! although they have been all square for most of the back nine. Hopefully they don't play 36 trying to decide who will win !!!

thought Allenby had Tigger early on ... 2 up after 6 i think it was, and Tigger was spraying them everywhere.

Lehman is my pick, he's played superbly in his opening 2 matches.

I think Di Marco as well

Goosen and Toms are moving quietly along. Both can sneak under the guard of their opposition. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of those 2 in the final at least.

Goosen's part of the draw looks a fair bit easier. As does VJ's.

Woods, Mickleson & Singh all gone.

In the end he tried to be conservative so the end was not as good as the golf earlier in the round.
Davis Love III was pretty much your normal American in the interview it took him quite some time to say that the better man on the day won. Most of the interview he said how he should have won but did not play well enough, at the very end he said Geoff played consistent good golf.

Did anyone notice on I think it might have been the 14th hole in the consellation final Zach Johnsons caddie replaced his ball in readiness to putt. Has anyone ever seen that happen before and is it allowable?

Jarro
28th February 2006, 06:28 AM

Lehman was quoted by the commentators saying words to the effect I don't want to be here this is a waste of time after losing to Ogilvy on the Saturday afternoon. He had a big winge about having to stay to see who was third and the prizemoney difference for 3rd and 4th only being just over 100 000.

I have to agree with Pete. Saw the replay last night, and I thought his interview was quite reasonable considering he had just lost over half a million dollars and the matchplay title.

He said more than once that Geoff played well. He said both of them were hitting their drives well and it was up to whoever could make the birdies. He went onto say that Geoff made the birdies and he didn't so that's why he lost.

saw that...but I think the caddie just placed the ball on the green next to the marker so that Zach could see the ball position from behind the hole - there was never any extra movement by the caddy to picked up the coin/marker...
