What do you put over the grip to stop it blowing out?

I use a length of lay flat hose. I also find that the stubborn grips sometimes come off a lot easier if you roll them up as far as you can, roll them back down, then blow them off.

I have got a spare new Pure gun; $20 pp.
The Pure gun is my main grip tool, but I also have a couple of difference versions of these, for when the Pure fitting gets in the way e.g. some putter grips. Or I need some more power (the shield is removable, and there are a few different versions of the needle in the kit);

I also have a couple of lengths of 40mm pvc tube, plus an aluminum tube that came with one of the guns above.

I know some like to use the petrol injection method, but I find one of these and some Metho is much cleaner to use and more versatile at loosening glued grips;

One of those sure would be handy. I sometimes use a bit a kero with the air to move stubborn grips.

Interested to know what you mean by 'flat hose', do you mean poly pipe or something else?

So you work that up the grip similar to the tool Daves linked?

No, I just slip it over the grip to prevent blowouts - same as the PVC pipe. Being flexible, it just enables you to grab hold of the grip and twist it as you apply the air and still prevent blowouts.
