Didn't take you long to take this thread down the gutter.

Good idea, Keza, I was going to bring it up later in the year. I certainly would like to know what the prizes are earlier this year, and would prefer to have them in my possession beforehand.
Last year, there were a few late changes which completely through my plans out.

So yes, I'm happy to look after the prizes/trophies/medals this year. But other people will need to volunteer to look after the various other things that put this event together.

One question. Is the BL jersey allowed to be set on fire afterwards? As a Collingwood man I have no problem with that, perhaps I'll donate footies only!

I also have Crows, Power and Bombers signed jerseys that I can donate.

I'm sure I could get some other funky stuff like movie tickets, sporting and concert tickets etc. Any TV and/or Radio promo gear basically.

Let me know what you'd like and I'll do my best. Alternatively I could just get whatever I can and hand it over to you?

one of my mates is a turner and fitter, he recently modified his kid cart hehe muaha so that he can wheel his kid around and have golf clubs..

ill take pictures if i can next time...his even got a patent pending on it...basically its one of them big three wheelers...and around the sides both sides his put iron and driver slots...so the whole setup is intergrated..i think its an excellent idea...hehehe he also put net over the opening..and sound damping in the cart...so if the kid cries during a shot atleast its muffled...its pretty neat i have to admit..

Shazza & I would like to start another "fun" prize at the champs but it would require a little work by every one. I'm looking for feedback.

Its a title a few people claim and a few don't want to claim.

Oz Golf's worst putter.

-Simple rules any stroke made on the green with any club counts as a putt. -In the Sat stab round a washed hole is a automatic 2 putt.
-The hard part would be every one whould have note putts on there card.

I'm happy to do the maths, but is it asking to much work from everyone else? I already have a prize in mind

So are we gunna do the Worst Putting award?

I think it would be good..... so many people on this site claim to be the worst putter..... least we can sort it out once and for all.

Our logic behind it was that this award would be open to everyone and realistically everyone has a fair chance of getting it ;) whereas the best putter would only be open to a few people who regularly have sub 30 putts.

Is everyone willing to jot down their number of putts? It may be tricky at PH with the stableford..... however a simple rule of mandatory 3 putts if you wash a hole might be a good incentive to keep on playing out the hole. ;)

I can't see it being problem to count putts at bribie as it is a stroke round.

PeteyD
7th October 2006, 06:45 PM
If you are going to do a worst putter maybe just use the bribie round.

Jono
7th October 2006, 06:59 PM
Shazza,

I think the worst putter idea is a good one. (Not that I'll be in contention or anything ... ;) )

Perhaps we should base it on just one round (either PH or Bribie). Since some of us are going to be hung over on Sunday (and having trouble just keeping score let alone keeping track of number of putts), it might be better to go for the Saturday round at PH. :p

amanda
8th October 2006, 07:52 AM
Shazza - love the idea (especially the 3-putt for a wipe) - would be more than happy to track putts for this.

What about an average of PH and Bribie putts - or 2 awards - the regular putting comp + best putter with a hangover ;)

peter_rs
8th October 2006, 11:46 AM
OK is there any more interest in a putting award. It need more support to go ahead.

the only problem with basing it on one round is there could be a ties. Do we need a poll :)

Bruce
8th October 2006, 12:47 PM
Some sort of countback would settle it.

Any 4 putts. Number of 3 putts. Shortest miss (as judged by playing partners).

peter_rs
8th October 2006, 04:27 PM
Good thinking Bruce,

Tezza ->hence a automatic 3 putt rule. Unless someone is really slow there is no reason why they can't finish a hole out, most washes happen on the green anyway.

I agree AP on the number of putts don't make a bad putter hence I figured make it over the two days just in case it was just a bad day on resort greens. But as AP happy to go with the mass.

AndyP
8th October 2006, 04:34 PM
I agree AP on the number of putts don't make a bad putter hence I figured make it over the two days just in case it was just a bad day on resort greens.
My reasoning is that the number of putts reflect where you are putting them on the greens, as well, not just the putting.

Some of PH's greens are massive, so if you are off target with approaches you could be in 4-putt territory...

Also, you could miss the green and be on the fringe, chip close and 1 putt. Another player is just on the green but in about the same spot, and two putts from there. Are they a worse putter? Sorry, I'm being pedantic.

Moe Norman
8th October 2006, 04:38 PM

The novelty awards should be at the discretion of the prize monkey. This is Jarro at the moment. He should nominate someone in the event that he does not make it. Novelty awards do not have to be for on the golf course. Sat night etc are open slather as well ;) I have a bag of old head covers and stuff I might bring along for more novelty awards.

It is a work in progress Brad I hit a little snag last night, but being an aircraft engineer I should be able to work it out. By the way the other trophy drew blood last night (lots of it). Little mishap with drill bit and finger.

Ran out of time to get some trophy like metal plates made, has anyone got any ideas on how to label the trophies? I will see what i can get done at work if I can. Otherwise the trophies may just be labeled in Marking pen or the like.
