The game that may break me. Had a lesson Tuesday and hit it well just getting used to the new setup.

1 fairway - sprayed everything right except the first. Need to work on it obviously but it's not far away

8 greens. Good considering I was all over the place. Had to chip out a few times but otherwise I hit the irons well. Just leaked them right all day

40 putts - yeah, 40. Tried to close my eyes for the short ones to stop the yips. Didn't help. Had a few 4 putts. Ended up going back to Cross handed and started to putt a bit better but it's at breaking point

30 points off 6

Nice work on Thursday especially then!

I might start tracking points vs putts. I reckon even with 37 points last week I still had more putts...

Sounds like a silly comparison

Maybe, but I'm not advocating anyone else do it unless they want to.

Par is 2 putts per hole, and stableford is 2 points per par, it gives a clue as to where I'm losing points. Its a little bit more than just counting putts.

Then again, I could just use the Swing by Swing app and look at stats in a lot more detail. Depends if you are someone (like me) who likes to measure their improvement (or deterioration). Others just want to get out of the house for a few hours :)

Monday at Pacific, Single stab- 29 Points 16/13.

36% Fairways
39% Greens
36 Putts

Today at Nudgee South, Single Stroke - 81/72, 39front 42back

31% Fairways
22% Greens
31 Putts

Didn't score too bad today, considering I didn't hit a green on the back 9 (a few were close), and didn't hit many fairways.

No sweat mate.

I have a vague memory of some goose using a similar comparison for champs goals.

Bloody raining on the coast again so we trekked up the hill to banjo territory (Mareeba) again.

For the most part I felt as though I hit the ball pretty decent, and was only let down by 3 poor shots which all ended up costing me double bogies.

Stroke round at Secret Harbour today.

Had 86/71. Started and finished poorly. Stupid 4 jack on the first for a double and finished double, double.

Overall I played the best I have in a long while, so I've got that going for me, which is nice. Just dirty I didn't nom nom for Fireball given the fact that I hadn't gone close to playing to my cap for a long while until today.

Luxury. Today's 68.5 missed winning the foursomes net by 0.5 of a shot.

It was made easier playing with a 24-marker. He still missed every green (except from 168m) like his usual game, but getting up and down in 2 rather than his usual 4 made the difference.

Good fun.

Played Cumberland today with 3OD, Noren and another mate from Cabra. The greens were firm and fast, and the pins were all in hard positions.

I had 32 points off 7. I wasn't swing the best but I was hitting pleny of fw's with the JetSpeed. I putted OK but had 3 putts, 2 from long range. As mentioned the pins were either tucked or on a swale, making them very hard to read.

My iron play is still piss poor but it started to improve on the back nine. Had 2 birdies. The highlight of the day was a hybrid I hit from around 200m to about 15feet behind the pin on the 9th (our last).

Considering the tough conditions, me begin rusty from not playing for a few weeks and blading 3 shots in a row on the 5th I was very happy with my score.

Stats:

2 x birdies
3 x 3 putts
2 x wipes
Lots of FW
Not many GIR.

I let my state down as the NSW representative in the Qld Masters at Arundel Hills today by recording 22 points. The fact that there were a number of worse scores doesn't make me feel any better.

The course penalises bad shots severely, and I hit quite a few of them. Some bad swings combined with some bad putting meant a very discouraging round. Not many positives that I can take out of this.

3rd round of club champs on Sat, took the ap2's out to make it the 3rd set of clubs used in 3 weeks. Hit the ball really well , and was quite happy to finish with my 86/75 considering ive shot 98 and 92 first 2 rounds and the misses on Sat were hitting the ball too well , shooting greens etc. Idea is to keep the AP2's in the bag and get used to them , they seem to be my best option of club as I am not quite there for the cobra blades.

Still a long way to go before I am scoring where I want to be again but 73 nett has been winning prizes so far with these club champ rounds so its not easy.

8 FWY ( 4 were just off so potentially 12)

3 GIR ( this is concerning)

30 putts ( best in a long time)

2 x 3 putts

1 bird , 5 pars , 9 bogeys and 3 doubles. need to work on my approach shots to atleast give myself a chance of getting up and down .

Played Echunga yesterday. Had to rush to get there in time and then proceeded to put my first 2 shots in the water :( Not having time to warm up first wastes 4 or 5 holes - I don't know why I do it to myself!

Still can't putt either with the exception of one 20ft putt for birdie and 5 points on the par 5 SI2 (which doubled my then points score). 39 putts is far too many tho. Ended up with with 29 points for a round of 100.

Oh yes! I meant to comment on this. The fairways were squelchy for what seemed like no good reason - not just in sheltered areas. Do they over-water or is it just a problem in the area?

It was like playing UK winter golf back but with UK summer weather :)

Surprised it continued... last time I was down there it was blowing pretty hard (I thought only 50-60kph but maybe it was more) and it was enough for them to blow the horn.

Definitely tough conditions for golf on the weekend, not great up here either, so a bloody solid round under the circumstances!

That would explain why its cheap to play then. It was soggy in places but not enough to ruin the round - but enough for those playing to comment on it. I can only imagine the carnage when its had a few weeks of buggies all over it.

Shame, because it does have some interesting holes (tho some pretty dull ones too)

The last few rounds and have been hitting it pretty well. But the sound of this compared to the x-hot is out there sounds like a shotty going off. I missed out on the jet speed for $169 that will teach me for stuffing around ha ha. My mate has a titleist 913 and that looks bloody nice.
