I'm having a week off golf this weekend, so I'll need a round the weekend after.

I like playing Gailes, as it is always a challenge for me, and the open comp is cheap ($16.50 last time).

According to their online fixture, the format is stableford.

Who would like to play?

It's great to see we can still pull the numbers together for a local round.

Who cares?

And what's this working out the groups for the organiser business?

It's nothing new mate. Thommo requested his group for the Wynnum Day and you've done it the past to get a game with your mates. I'm simply doing the same. It's the first and last chance I'll get to play with my neighbour and Troy and Ken were wanting to play together. The rest of the groups are yours to do as you please, I don't care who plays with who outside my group.

If you'd rather not book my group as is, please let me know and I'll make my arrangements.

See thread heading.
The comps run from about 11am onwards, I think, but the later the tee time the better, as it will leave the morning to spend at home.

I'll probably ring the club tomorrow to book some groups.

BV, you know I'm kidding, right?
The groups as they are, are pretty close to my 'draft' anyway.

Just the age old problem of pullouts after the draw is posted...with a definite pattern forming.

As for the cart option..I think we should seriously consider the medical certificate rule. As Ian healy once said to Ranatunga....you can't get a runner just beacuae you're a fat overweight **** !

Are you trying to suggest moe has an issue with AndyP, or is one of the other guys?

As I said I actually taking Christine as my caddy (for reading green purpose only) and she's not really good at walking long distance as most girls from HK does.

If I just come by myself I probably won't use cart (because they are expensive) but I really need someone help me to read the green to win this thing and I really want to win it.

If it were just the two of you sneaking off for a few quiet holes and a chance for a bit of sly horizontal barn-dancing when no one is around I could understand, but hey this is an Ozgolf day. Saying you require one because your girlfriend may get tired is bloody weak to say the least :???:

If she is going to take this game up as a sport then she will have to learn to go the distance on foot. If you need her to read putts because she is better at it than you, then I think you know what area of your game needs urgent attention.

However, as the organiser I would have expected a PM, if he was "building a shed".I'm really building a shed well putting one up that came in a box. The other one got destroyed in a storm a few months back and the mrs put her foot down and said I need to put the one I bought (two days after the old one blew over) up.

As I'd never played with AndyLo I was going to give him a chance. Now the groups have changed and I'm with AndyP. Macca and Choppa I'm still out - which just goes to show I really am building a shed!

p'shaw my good fellowe, i shall share some excellent sack with you in a post prandial manner thence.

near Oxley, we went in and drank a pint of wine, where we were very merry at our Jole of Ling, and from thence after a great and good dinner Mr. Falconberge would go drink a cup of ale at a place where I had like to have shot at a scholar that lay over the house of office.

and so parted; and thence home, where I found my wife and maid a-washing.

and thence to my office, where nothing to do...and thence to bed.

At least you've got all your scores under 90. With all the rounds I've played there, I still had to go back to 2002 to find one for me. I've always said that this course has got me.

Just rang Gailes to change the booking. Instead of changing all the names about, I've just cancelled the first group. So when you go to pay your green fees, you'll find that your name may not be down. It was the easiest thing to do over the phone, and the club had no problem with that (hopefully the pro on Sunday doesn't either).

We'll play the groups as follows. Let's see if our group can keep up with SpeedyVegas.

Another fantabulous OZgolf day is over. Thank you to all who turned up. And thank you to my playing partners who made it an enjoyable round.

Here are today's stableford results, which are of a higher standard than usual for an OZgolf day.

1. Peter_rs 40
2. Choppa 37
2. Eag's 37
2. BrisVegas 37
5. AndyP 35
5. Shazza_rs 35
7. Keza_G 34
8. Scotty_G 33
8. BrisWesty 33
10. Azza 31
11. Andylo 29
12. Macleod 23

As I mentioned afterwards, how often does 33 points finish 8th in an OZgolf day.

I won't comment on the official matchplay that was on the day, I'll leave that to the participants.

In an unofficial matchplay between myself and Eag's, I was destroyed 5 and 4, which looking at the scores above seems a little harsh.
Eag's made some great putts and up and downs at the right times, and I failed to.

Thanks guys, it was a good day. Nice to have a round with Mark(Bris)Westy for the first time. Very consistent player , once you got it going. Poor Macca came up against a tough opponent today in choppa. He was striking the ball beautifully and probably should have gone several better than he did.

I feel a little "empty" after today's game as I left a heap out there. First time I've played on slow greens with the new putter and really struggled to get it to the hole. Had several lip outs and a 180. Wasn't really anything at stake today, so I kinda lost interest.

Can't wait for the next big outing at North Lakes. Big, fast greens!

Thanks to scotty, keza and pete for the round. Had a reasonable day. Had fun with the new driver (?).... ;) Sand play was woeful.... or should i say dirt play.

35 points.... 19 and 16....faded a little towards the end. Had a stupid song stuck in my head for most, okay all of the round.

Thanks for organising today Andy
Thanks BrisVegas, Macleod and Choppa for helping find my errant balls. It was a pleasure going round with you all for the first time.
33 points (including 4 washes). Dear oh dear.
On the bright side - 9 pars on a course I've never played before. Shame about the 6 double bogeys or worse!
Despite only 32 putts (putted out on the washes too) the greens were in pretty poor condition, but I liked their subtleties, they certainly caused misreads several times.
Macleod didn't have a very good game back, and Choppa was playing very well. Choppa vs BrisVegas would have been a clash of the titans worth watching today. Both hitting it way long out there, but nothing really dropped with the putter for any us today.

So Shazza, at risk of causing us all mental scarring, what was the song?
And ALo, considering you were carrying 27 pages of "speed up" on your back, excellent effort.

Onwards to North Lakes.

So 40 points with 4 washes... what could have been. With a CCR of 70 I wont even lose a shot. I was -1 under the stick after 5 holes. for 23 points (2 washes) after that it was down hill. including being 2 fairways over after the driver slipped due to the rain.
