Played Tura and Merimbula many years ago.

Condition should be spot on, and its a great area.

If I wasn't heading OS its something I would consider.

Nice. Any tips for someone who's never been down that way?
Remember what the courses were like at all?

Fairway = good.
Green = better.
Hole = best.

Sand = bad.
Water hazard = worse.
Lost/OOB = worst.

That sounds like excellent advice. I wonder if I could maybe even apply that to courses in QLD

Tura - stay under the hole all day. Length isn't that important, accuracy off the tee is. It is a long track but its even longer when playing three off the tee. And its bloody hilly!
Merimbula - its the retirees course. Wider, shorter. Can't remember too much about it to be honest.

Thanks mate!

Assuming "staying under the hole all day" means rather sneak up on it - don't overshoot it?

That's gold..."sneak up on the hole" he means make sure your putting uphill when on the green , don't leave downhill putts as it sounds like the greens must be quick.

Upon arrival my paperwork showed me as having a handicap of zero, so I was jokingly nicknamed "Scratchy"
31291

Then after we actually won the Sunday, which I was amazed by considering there were like ~130 people
31292

The boys started calling me Scratchy the Shark, and make this and jokingly threatened to print them out and put them up around the club
31293

But on the Thursday I played my normal crap game, and got the wooden spoon trophy with my 19pts, which was six pink Greg Normal "Shark" balls
So I then became the "Scratchy the Lady Shark" lol

Great write up, and it brings back memories.

I started playing at Bateman's Bay, and they did a couple of these weeks over the winter months. Very popular with country Victorians getting away from the cold and their frost damaged greens.

Thanks Dotty. I've heard Bateman's Bay (in general) is a really nice area - I'll have to make an effort to get there sometime

Haha tempting but no - will be false advertising

I'll try and break into the under 20 bracket,
once that's done (which will take who knows how long), I'll aim for the single figures,
probably never actually get to scratch being a social player
