So there is one gap in my bag that I cannot seem to get right at all. And that's between the driver and my longest iron

At the moment I have a J33 15 degree 3 wood with an X100. The trouble is I feel I hit this club too long for a fairway finder. I love the flight, it's just it goes a bit long for the course I am at.

I had a 18 degree hybrid but it's too close a gap to the 3 iron and went too high.

Trailed a 4 wood but the shaft and overall club feels way too light

So I have a few options:
#1 cut the 3 wood down to say 41.5 and take some distance out of it

#2 reshaft the 4 wood with an x100 but then I'm left with a shaft I'll never use and more $$$ into a test club

#3 shaft up the scratch 2 iron that's with the set with maybe a graphite shaft a touch longer than a standard 2 iron to make a driving iron thingy

#4 keep the 3 wood as is and learn to hit a 3/4 shot with it and then I've got the extra distance if needed on longer courses

For info, I'm trying to find something I hit about 220 - 230

Get a 5 wood that is set up like ur 3 wood. I'm assuming they are going pretty cheap for that model.

I did this Matt and love it. I hit mine 210-225, might still be a bit long for you. Definitely worth a thought though, stunningly easy to hit.

Grip right down on the 3 wood? - you can tape up the tapered end of the grip to thicken it, no need foe 3/4 shot then.

I'm guessing you have one jado?
I'm trying to not buy more clubs!
The 2 iron with a 42" shaft would be interesting!

Reshaft that 16.5 fairway you already have Matty. Sell the shaft, and get a shaft that suits you. Or something :)

I like this option. Cheapest, simplest and probably most effective.

Sounds like you hit your Irons well so why not try the 2 iron or a good quality driving iron with a premo shaft?
Other than that go with PJs suggestion of thickening your 3 wood grip and gripping down.

Is there any dramas in getting a .350 into the .355 hosel? Does that slight extra room create dramas??

Gripping down seems to be a good option, it's just weather it takes enough off the shot.

Hmmmmm

If someone wants to buy the Fuji fuel 60 for the cost of a steel shaft they can!!

Matt, I have a S400 2 iron shaft from a Titty DCI990 (so a .355, I think). Happy to bring it to Cabra tomorrow week if it sounds like something you'd like to try.

KJ that sounds great! Will owe you beers! Maybe I'll extend it to 42" for a test.

Why don't you put the steel shaft out of the 3 wood in the 4 wood or won't it fit.

I have no way to pull shafts at home. Only install them. And I don't want to risk wrecking the shaft all together.

I'll let eBay decide on the 4 wood. I think gripping down might be the better option so I can go for it when needed or try and control it more.

Still keen to shaft the 2 iron but depends how or if it'll fit in the bag. Maybe a heavy graphite at 42.5 inches would make a great driving iron mix
