March 11. Looks like there will be quite a few matches played then.

If that's a Saturday, I need to check with Mrs BW if she's working that day. Otherwise it could be a possibility. (I'll just need to save up!)

If that doesn't work, maybe we could ask Jarro if we could to orginize to play a early Sunday morning round at Nudgee, seeing as it is about half way berween us.

Tezza,
I've just booked in some holidays over April. Maybe we can set this up for a Nudgee game then.
I'll be away for Macleod Cup, so we'll have to reschedule.

Work sux. I've already sorted out what needs to get done in the 160 hours before holidays (and there's more like 250 hours worth in there)!

Looks like 12 April at Nudgee may be the go!

Jarro
28th March 2006, 07:48 PM
yep, i'll book it for you guys as soon as the timesheet comes out.

of course, i'll be there to make sure it's all above board and there's no over-the-top sledging ;)

BrisWesty

Can someone else come along too, to make sure Jarro doesn't sledge Tezza and I too much.

Thanks Jarro for doing the leg work to organise this for us.

Looks like we ought to make this an ozgolf day.

North course?

Just giving this one a bump. Who wants to come along and hang out with Jono at Nudgee (if there's anyone apart from me who hasn't yet)?

First up, neither of us deserved to lose this match play; we both took Nudgee on and beat the crap out of it.

1st hole – Both missed fairway to the left. Tezza stuck his approach in the bunker, and saved for par. BW stuck his approach about 2m from the hole and sunk the bird. 1 up.
2nd hole – Tez in the middle of the fairway, safe two putt par. BW went left, laid up short, chipped to a metre and par to halve the hole. 1 up.
3rd hole – Tezza played a safe 3 putt bogey, BW went everywhere (hook, airmailed green, in roots etc) except in the hole for a one putt triple bogey. Square
4th – Tezza almost made the green in 1, BW a little way back, both on in reg, BW 1 putted for birdie and go 1 up. Didn't need the shot on this hole.
5th – Big drive by Tezza, made the 4 look easy, BW scrambled for a one putt bogey. Square. BW had had 5 one putts to here.
6th – BW gets a shot here. Big drive by both players, and both on in regulation. BW finally missed a putt, but Tezza drained his from about 3m for birdie, hole halved.
7th – Both way right off the tee, Tezza got his birdie 4, BW hacked his way up for a double bogey 7. 1 down.
8th – Another shot for BW here. A couple of 4s, Tezza horseshoed round the cup from the edge of the green with his texas wedge, to miss his 3rd bird in a row. BW easy 2 putt par to win the hole. Square
9th – BW’s tee shot trickled back onto the green from the hill behind, and 2 putted for par. It didn’t matter because Tezza stuck his 8 iron to 50cm and sunk the birdie to be 1 up at the turn.
After 9 Tezza had gone 2 under (off 8) for a 33. BW was 4 over (off 14) for a 39.

10th – A shot for BW. Both on the fairway. Both stuffed the approach. BW splashed out of the bunker to a metre and saved par, Tezza got his par. Match squared.
11th – BW missed left and got down for a bogey. Tezza 2 putted for par to go 1 up.
12th – A shot for BW here. Both on in regulation. Tezza almost got on for 2 but didn’t get his chip to the hole. Both 2 putted for par, but BW got a shot on the hole, to square up again. Note, this was Tezza’s first score greater than 4 for the round. Fantastic effort.
13th – Tezza right down the guts off the tee, BW stuffed his second, short for 3, over the back for 4, and in the hole for a dirty double bogey 7. Tezza made sure of his par 5, but it was his second 5 in a row. 1 up for Tezza.
14th – Tezza short in the bunker off the tee. BW on the green. Tezza airmailed over the green out of the bunker, but chipped back and sunk the putt for bogey. BW two putts for par and square.
15th – BW played up short of the bunkers and pitched on to 3-4 metres. Tezza launched a drive to about 50m, chipped over the green. (BW thinks “I’ll get him here.”) Tezza almost sinks the chip coming back. BW misses the birdie and gets his par, Tezza sinks a pressure 3m putt for par to square the hole.
16th – BW gets his final shot from Tezza here. BW goes right, Tezza hits a knuckle ball nearby, but on the fairway and not in trouble. BW plays to the front fringe of the green. Tezza comes up about 20m shorter and chips to about 4m for 3. BW putts to tap in distance and pars hole. Tezza can’t win the hole but 2 putts for a bogey and finally comes back even with par. BW is 1 up with 2 to play.
17th – BW lofts it right and into the trees. Tezza quilts one over the corner into the centre of the fairway about 90m out. BW is fortunate to have a clear shot out and chips into fairway. Tezza hits wedge onto green about 15m short of the flag. BW approached to pin high about 4m right of flag. BW thinking “Tezza’s in 3 putt territory, I put this in and go to the last 1 up.” Tezza putts, it rolls, rolls, rolls some more, right into the back of the cup for a birdie 3. Magic putt by Tezza to win the hole. BW two putts for bogey. All square going to the last.
18th - Tezza goes left into the trees, so does BW. Tezza’s ball got caught up more leaving him a longer shot. Doesn’t get the first one out, but puts his third shot on the back of the green leaving a nasty downhill attempt of about 8m. BW doesn’t risk going for the green and lays up short and right of the front bunker about 5m from the green. BW chips up and leaves it about 3m short. Tezza’s ball refuses to brake and runs about 3m past, putts back up and leaves it just left of the hole for a double bogey 6. BW overcooks his first putt about 0.5m past the hole and sinks a buttock clenching downhill putt for bogey 5 and the win.

In the final wash up, Tezza shot a 1 over par 72 for a net 64 (fantastic effort), while BW fired 80 for a net 66. BW won four of the 6 holes he got a shot on, which in the end was the difference. Neither of us got a lead of more than 1 up, and there were only 3 holes halved for the day.

it's amazing how often two people play outstanding golf all day then bogey on the 18th wins the match.

sounds like a ripper of a match!

That's an incredible round of golf, from both players. How good am I feeling about our round 2 match now.

BrisWesty, Lets get our match in very soon. What are the chances you can bring yourself up to that level again so soon after a great round? :-D

I'm ready to dance.
