I wouldn't pass on it.

Wasn't Warney striving for single figures when he had the year off? He was getting close, I think.

i've heard previously heard that Bill Murray is off 2

I've heard something similar about bill murray too. But that his hc is inflated cause he is such a drawcard at pro-ams they have to guarantee he is around for the weekends.

A recent golf digest (us) I have I'm sure has dennis quaid as the best celebrity hc. I'm sure he was very low single figures or scratch. Apparently james garner was real low singles in his more youthful days.

Sean Connery on 15?, well he used to be about an 7-8 when he was on Pro Celebrity, and looked pretty handy. I thought he was supposed to be getting better as he got older?

Jack Wagner on 3? He looked pretty ordinary when i saw him playing golf on Melrose Place, like one of those faked swings that we often see. then again that was a while ago i suppose.

Don Adams was reported by some golf coach to the rich and famous to be one of the worst golfers he had ever seen. Had a shocking hook, played off 30 something.

I played in a pro-am in Scottsdale that Jack Wagner was playing in back in his Melrose days. He was listed as SCR that day, but I didn't actually see him play.

Tubby Taylor plays off 2 left handed and is apparenty good enough for single figures right handed.

He's actually a right handed golfer (even though he was a left handed batsman) who can play a bit left handed. A few years back he was off about 8 at Pennant Hills.

Greg Ritchie plays a fair bit at Brookwater. He's an ambassador for the club. Think he's off 6 or something. Pretty handy anyway.

I'm pretty sure Craig Gower and Braith Anasta both play off less than 6.

I think Braith Anasta is either 2 or 4 and he can play. Saw him playing in Macquarie Link few months back and he almost drove the green on one of the Par 4.

Michael Jordon is off 2 or 3.

That would be a serious ego reduction....Why do you think he got into so much trouble with gamblers in the late 90's......

He's maybe a 6 on a good day, I know a few guys who have played with him and they all say that while he's a great competitor and a good guy, he sucks at golf.......

Basketball is a different story though.......

I know Kenny G can play alright, probably off 1-2. Alice Cooper played my home course in Canada and shot 86 or something, not bad for an old guy, and Rob Lowe shot 99 at St. Charles..........He's terrible.....but a really cool guy.....

Saw him on payTV yesterday. He plays off scratch, and still hasn't had a haircut.
Bill Murray is off 14.
Mark Wahlberg was 7.
Justin Timberlake 6.

what is G69's handicap?

surely he qualifies as an aussie celebrity?

Wendel Sailor hits a long ball and was playing off 10 a few years back.

Punter is on single figures but can't putt to save his life.

He is past 50 now, so he is probably having a shot at the Legends Tour in Oz. It would be for the fun of it I would suggest, as the prize money on offer isn't much.

That always blows my mind, that someone can be so good at cricket one way, and golf the either, when the swings are not totally different. Ah sporting ability, how I wish I had you :D

Unless Acker has had a crapload of lessons over the past 5 years, he would be mid-high teens and that is being complimentary. We played a two ball ambrose and were so busy talking throughout the day forget to keep track of tee shots. Had to use his drives on the last few holes, hitting out from bushes and behind trees. It was a nightmare but a hoot none the less.

I heard somewhere (prob on some cricket interview) that he beat Aaron Baddeley 4 and 3 in a fun warmup contest at The Lakes (Sydney) a few years ago, before the Australian Open was played. He must have made a few clutch putts that day .

Here's something that I saw from Rafael Nadal earlier this year about his handicap/golf.

"1.8, 1.7. I am solid, more or less. I have nothing unbelievable but nothing (really weak). I more or less have a good short game and I am solid with the driver. Being honest, I never take a lesson and I never go to the range and hit balls. I don't have much time for it. For me, it's a hobby. I'm not crazy about going from 2 to 1.7. I just don't care about the handicap. I just care about having fun and trying to play good. I'm a competitive guy and I like to do well and, when I do it, I try my best. But if I have hours free at home, I don't go to the range by myself"

I wonder if he is a slow golfer, and fidgets like he does when playing tennis.

I saw Rafa on video hitting a few pitch shots with a wedge. Very similar technique to his tennis shots - the wrist action is weird but effective.

There's actually been a book released recently about his cheating at golf.https://www.amazon.com.au/Commander-Cheat-Explains-brilliant-bestseller/dp/1472266102/ref=asc_df_1472266102/?tag=googleshopdsk-22&linkCode=df0&hvadid=341774297905&hvpos=1o3&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7396511901638180366&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9069291&hvtargid=pla-677696712708&psc=1T (https://www.amazon.com.au/Commander-Cheat-Explains-brilliant-bestseller/dp/1472266102/ref=asc_df_1472266102/?tag=googleshopdsk-22&linkCode=df0&hvadid=341774297905&hvpos=1o3&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7396511901638180366&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9069291&hvtargid=pla-677696712708&psc=1)here's also a story around about how this year he's the joint club champion at one of his courses. He's listed as the solo club champ there for many years. This last year he didn't play his clubs champs at all (I don't know why not, he golfs plenty during his job), and another member won them. Trump then supposedly challenged the guy to a game, and were square after 9 holes so he declared themselves as joint club champions and has them both listed on the honour board. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2019/apr/02/donald-trump-golf-28-club-championships

If you’re gonna write a story about a bloke cheating you shouldn’t bag him for enforcing the rules of golf on his opponent.

Aker has to face the board. Likely to get a life ban. An old bloke saw him cheat yet again and called him on it. Aker went ape shit and the old bloke felt threatened enough to report it to the police.
Aker gone. That's the third club apparently.

He called Sam Newman a golf cheat on the footy show, Sam threatened to take him to court over it.

I often find (and have witnessed it myself) that the ppl who advertise other players cheating are often cheaters themselves.

Don't know about that bout from everything that's being written he can do anything with a score card. He was called on too many clubs in his bag as well.Lost his sh1t over it.Club champs he deliberately put his name down with current champ.Jas only got beaten by 12 strokes, wasn't overly social at round completion. On a side note, Zac Murray shot 60 around same course a couple of weeks ago. Putt for eagle on 18 was 1/2 a roll short for a 59

Cheers for that.
Did a little bit of googling to see what the history was with what he did or was doing. Without going through 100's of pages all I could find was the last incident about playing from OOB and a 4 on his score card when someone not in the group claims he had a 6.
In summary it sounds like he's he's an overly competitive dic as well as being just an a$$hat that rubs people the wrong way.

I’d have thought they’d ask his marker about the 4 or 6

What was more interesting was Aker mentioning about being overlooked 8 times for coaching roles at AFL Clubs.
Says a lot that no AFL club wants him.

Evidently he’s working on a Pro career so moving to Qld to make that happen. He's been "working" on getting to golf pro level for 5 years. It's not going to happen, he's just not good enough. Along with his passion for Bitcoin he's just looking for the first time easy path

I put my name down yesterday for the comp at Oxley today, and was told that I would be playing with three visitors from Nudgee, which was a bit concerning considering the known quality of membership there. I was pleasantly surprised to find that one of my playing partners was Matt Renshaw (former test opener, Qld Bulls opener, and my favourite Brisbane Heat player). The first hole made him look like a dud player, but it turns out that he is pretty good. He plays off 5, and hits it pretty long, although come out really low off the driver sometimes. I've got no idea what he scored today, but he got screwed by the course a few times, and I don't recall any birdies.

Maybe I could have asked for one on behalf of my son, but when you can't even sign each other's cards at the moment, you probably shouldn't ask for an autograph.

That would be pretty cool. I've been a cricket fan since I can remember.

Some mates of mine in my social club are also in the music biz, they were meant to have a round with Alice Cooper last year or whenever it was he was here last. Some miscommunication ruined that though.

I knew we had a thread on this.

I watched a bit of the celebrity golf event that Ash Barty, Ricky Ponting and various US celebrities played in on Kayo today.

Knowing that Aussies never lie about their handicaps, I have two conclusions to draw. Firstly, the courses pro events are held on are really hard. Most of the celebs really struggled on the 1st hole at Liberty National, which looked a fairly standard water down the left opening hole. I was embarrassed for Ash Barty, who took at least a triple.

Secondly, the gap between your standard amateur off scratch and your standard pro is really wide. The cameras do not lie regarding the difference between a pro golf swing and an amateur golf swing.

Too be fair, I only watched about half and hour. Maybe the celebs got better as the day went on, but I simply couldn't take more than what I saw.

Ash Barty plays at brookwater, although it's pretty short off the red tees. Even though they're used to TV coverage, I imagine it's different when you're playing a different sport. Barty plays off about 4, and I thought Ponting was pretty close to scratch?

I reckon it’s more like a gulf between the pros and a scratch amateur.

Su Oh was the #1 amateur in the world off +8 before she turned pro and her current world ranking is #114.

Barty said she was off four, and had to play off the men's tees. I only watched a small bit and only saw her play two approach shots, and both were to within a few metres, which was impressive.
